| I'd go with the guns for which ammo would have been most readily available at the time:
Handgun: Colt SAA in 45 Colt Rifle/Carbine: Winchester 94 Carbine in 30-30
If I wanted to use the same cartridge:
Colt SAA and Winchester 92 both in 44-40 |

| It's not practical I suppose, but I'd want one of those sawed-off lever action rifles like Josh Randall / Steve McQueen carried in "Wanted Dead or Alive."
Of course, given my ethnicity, physique and eyesight, what I'd best be carrying in 1898 would be needles and thread. |

| Unless I was as broke as I am now, I'd try to lay hands on either a Remington 1890 or 1875. I always thought I'd be tickled with the .44WCF, but after reading Hatcher's writings, I dunno. He says the .44WCF never could work up the same level of accuracy as the .45US, .45S&W, .44Russian, and maybe some others.
