Lunde got some really nice shots of the prototype at Shot Show, but I'm sure he can do much better in his studio.

Don't worry, he'll get one soon enough.

News Flash!!!

I AM HAPPY! LIFE IS GOOD!

Your new, updated and completely good to go BarSto 10mm barrels are here! Irv Stone Jr. has totally outdone himself with these babies. If his standard barrels could be thought of as sexy, these 10mm tubes are positively erotic.

Your 10mm P220's are going to fly outta here now. I'll post pics and updates frequently now that we know exactly what we're doing, so to speak. Big Grin

You are also invited to ring me up with questions as we proceed to completion. As mentioned before we want to try to "upsell" each of you into the gnarly hard black finish (and perhaps sell you a nifty magwell, too...) particularly if you are a higher-volume 10mm shooter. I'll have the technical details for you anytime you call the shop.

I can't thank all of you enough for your patience and understanding while we got everything together for this challenging project. I believe you're about to be rewarded with what a gun that exceeds expectations in many ways.

I have been trying to control my excitement for waaay to long. I'm ready to burst.

Bruce,

What is this "gnarly black finish" that you are dangling in front of us? I love the natural stainless finish as the nicks and scratches are less noticeable. If this finish is something special, I'd like to hear about it!

Thanks

Hi! It's much the same stuff that Glock uses, and is described as a ferritic nitrocarburizing infusion process that introduces carbon into the surface of the steel and yields a surface case .0015 deep at between 50RC and 70RC depending on the substrate.

This stuff is quite tough and durable. I like what it will do for frame rails and other fitted surfaces.

Thanks for the answer Bruce. I thought that you may be referring to IonBond's DLC. There is a bit of information on the web regarding the use of this finish on firearms. Apparently, DLC is incredibly hard and very durable. I found the website below that offers DLC coating. The price is steep but if it truly is "forever", it may be worth it.

We have been in contact with Mr. Springer, the Western source for Ion Bond's services. I feel DLC has a place, but it doesn't do the same things that the finish I am suggesting will do for our application. Mr. Springer is a great guy with good stuff, and we lok forward to working with him where DLC is indicated.

Hey Bruce, how much money, and time, to add a beavertail to my P220 Project?

Quite the upsell! Hard to say no to such nice options... They seem to have the sales and marketing down - and the technical (or so I'm told!!) Now where do I sneak the extra $$$ from??

Bruce,

Is it fair to assume that you are suggesting that the 10mm conversion's durability will be enhanced by this finish due to the increase in hardness of the stainless itself? If we opt for the optional finish, what does that do to the delivery date?

I already feel like a little kid at Christmas, waiting for Santa!

Thanks....

Good question. It's not mandatory, but I do have reason to feel this finish will improve durability. We may well factor it into our next run for that reason. We have been told turnaround will be just a couple weeks at most from our highly experienced and well-established vendor, so we will arrange for this work while we do other things to limit further delays. I am very sensitive to the fact that y'all have waited patiently whilst we sorted this out and got everything the way I needed it to be for you. Thank you!

We'll offer terms for the upgrades, seriously. I'm not trying to upsell for it's own sake, but to offer enhancements that I am certain will yield a better result for you. That's why we are offering the magwell and finish options to 10mm clients at our cost.

That's the cleanest and most natural looking magwell I've seen--very un-appendage like. Has a much cleaner look than a magwell on the 1911.
