Bunch of savages in this town |
My first pistol, a used P226 when I turned 21. I started an expensive hobby, and being broke sold it to keep the second pistol I bought. A NIB P228 which I still own, going on 30yrs... It's had an interesting life. I bought it from the same store where the VA Tech shooter bought some weapons. An ex-girlfriend stole it, and threatened to have my ass kicked by people she would pay. She also cleaned out my house and stole a car. I ended up buying a Glock .40 and told her to let those guys know I'd be playing for keeps. It never happened, and eventually I was able to get the pistol back without legal action. ----------------- I apologize now...

Little ray of sunshine |
I had an all inox (including the controls) Beretta 92FS that I kind of wish I still had, but, to be honest, I don't miss it that much. Least - an HR .22 revolver. It was not a great gun. The fish is mute, expressionless. The fish doesn't think because the fish knows everything.

My first Sig. A 90's P228 and a pre-ban Colt AR15 Sporter. I don't really "regret" getting rid of them, especially the Colt, as that went to a Marine friend, who just had to have it. I like to try many different guns so there are many I sold happily to make way for another/newer gun. Joe Back in Tx.

Prepared for the Worst, Providing the Best |
Funny you should mention that...I've always wanted one of those as well. I just came across a nice older Italian one today at the LGS for a pretty reasonable price of $650. That's not a common sight around here, so my heart rate went up a bit and I asked to look at it. Honestly, the action and controls weren't as smooth as my old bruniton Beretta USA gun, or my 92X. I ended up leaving it there...just couldn't justify the money for something that will just sit in the safe and look pretty.

Most regret…my 3913 Happiest to get rid of was a Benelli MR-1 rifle. Stupid thing just wouldn’t run. Sent it to Benelli who didn’t do shit to get it to run. That Damon thing pisses me off just thinking about it.

many many moons ago, I was offered a SIG PE57 as a gift, the gift , was from my Father who ran a business I now run, I told him no, I could not accept such an expensive gift, however if it did not sell at the next show or 2, I would, the next gunshow was a tiny show in Charlottesville, and it sold then, it was $3500,,,, part of me is glad he got that for it and moved on, part of me is kicking myself in the ass for not taking the rifle, we had it in inventory for about a year,, $3500 was real money in the 90's https://chandlersfirearms.com/chesterfield-armament/

I once traded a SAO P220 to get... a stainless SAO P220. I think it is the only one I ever let go.

Regret…. A Texas longhorn Arms in .41mag. Sold it for 1600, asked the buyer for first right of refusal. He agreed. Years later see it on gunbroker for $5k. There’s one I won’t be able to replace. A Python Target .38, bright stainless Python… it goes on. Glad to get rid of? Any of the commemeratives I’ve ever bought.

Doin' what I can with what I got |
Oddly enough, the gun I regret selling the most is the Mosin Tanker I had in college. Back in the early aughts, Mosins were the epitome of dirt-cheap commie garbage rods and I had to have The Nice One for a twelve dollar premium over a regular Mosin. Hocked it to a friend who wanted one before leaving for my basic officer course, because I didn't want to lug it around in my Jeep with the stuff I liked every so many months while the Army shuffled me around - and obviously they'd always be seventy bucks a pop, right? No regrets: every Taurus and Kel-Tec I've ever owned. ---------------------------------------- Death smiles at us all. Be sure you smile back.

Fighting the good fight |
Regret: A nice 1960s Marlin 336RC. At the time, I had zero use for a .30-30 lever gun and needed the funds, but since that time I find myself wishing I had it back. It was also in fantastic condition. Finding another one in the same condition for a reasonable price is basically impossible now. It's the only gun I've ever regretted selling. Happiest: Glock 36. I have a slew of other Glocks, even other .45 ACP Glocks like the G30 and G21, but there's something about that weirdly proportioned single-stack .45 ACP G36 grip that just didn't work for me and my big hands at all. It felt like I was trying to hang on to a 1x4. Combine that with the shitty Gen 3 grip texture (or total lack thereof). No amount of grip tape or Hogue slip-on grips that I tried helped with how terrible that grip felt and worked for me. If I want to shoot or carry a single-stack .45, I'll go with a 1911 any day. Good riddance.

10mm Angler |
Regret: Like RogueJSK, a Marlin. Mine was a clean 1970s era 336CS that I bought in 1994. I sold it a few years ago since I never used it and have a few Winchester 94s that I did. I thought I could always get another 336CS if I wanted one...Hindsight. Hopefully the Ruger/Marlin 336s will be as nice. Happiest: Also a Marlin. I had a 2009 Model 39 that I wanted for years. This being of the early Remington era, it would fail to extract 50% of the time with any ammunition I tried, made two trips back to the factory and a third to a local gunsmith. It was never reliable and I sent it on its way. I've been lucky with my collection of new guns in terms of quality control, but that one was a huge disappointment. Like the 336, I hope it comes back from Ruger/Marlin.

Nothing really. Mild regret Sphinx SDP compact and subcompacts. I had a pair of both, all Swiss made but Kriss pissed me off and didn’t do us owners any favors. They kind of fucked the whole thing up. So it was best. I sold my first 2” Rhino and regretted it but took care of it finding another. There is really nothing I’m sore over. What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone

I had always wanted a Colt Mustang. Got my wish. Looked for years and put Craig Spegel grips on it. Parts fell off it when I shot it. Was thrilled to get out of that one.

I can't say that I really regret it all that much, but I do sometimes miss a Gen 2.5 Glock 26 that I bought new in early 1999. I carried it for years but sold it after collecting a few newer versions. There was nothing really special about the gun, but I guess it had some sentimental value. The one I'm glad I sold was a .50AE Desert Eagle. That thing was so impractical and nearly always threw the brass straight back to my forehead. I was very happy to unload it on a guy who just loved large caliber handguns. 十人十色
