Not so long ago, there was a 24/7 website with a webcam monitoring revolver on a chair or table.

The idea being that it would be recorded when it autonomously caused handgun violence.

Is that still active? Is it a P320 now?

Apologies for the thread drift, but Lena as well as Max Michel both announced today that they are no longer Sig Sauer sponsored shooters.

Curious if you can cite source of this ?

Max Michel and Lena Miculek Announce Departures from Team SIG Sauer

SIG SAUER Thanks Max Michel and Lena Miculek for Their Valued Partnerships

I haven't seen something similar posted from Max, but yesterday Lena posted a video on her social media talking about how 'Rose by Sig Sauer' was her proudest achievement, but she's moving onto to greater things, sort of implying something beyond competitive shooting.

Any word on what HPD may transition to?

Houston PD is IOP. The officers have the choice of either Glock or S&W.

That is an interesting turn of events. I wonder how long that has been in the works?

About a month ago, Julie Golob announced she was leaving S&W. My Son and I were both speculating that something may be in the works for Lena to come back to S&W. While that hasn't happened yet, I would not be surprised if it does.

I wonder if team shooters at this level have a non-compete clause in their contracts so it could be three to twelve months before they can make any “announced” move to another gun company

January 2025 HPD officer injured
August 2025 P320 banned

Sad that officers must purchase their own pistol.

If having to buy my own pistol meant that I could choose between a couple different pistols, I would happily buy my own pistol and would much prefer to do so over having no option. If the pistol was chosen for me but I still had to buy it then yeah that would be kind of a bummer.

I attend regular meetings with HPD here in my burb of Houston as I am on a Public Safety Committee in Kingwood, TX. New HDP officers get a $1000 stipend for a weapon purchase. After 1 year they get an annual $2002 equipment allowance. None of the officers I deal with regularly ever complain about having a choice in duty weapon.

We also purchased our HPD substation a Virtual Reality weapons training software license for training and a Polaris ATV to allow them to get back along the lake, river, and bayous. I will be attending our monthly meeting tonight.

2000 and TWO dollars. I totally understand how numbers like this come about budgeting but that number still made me chuckle. “You know what buddy here’s an extra couple bucks get yourself a coffee or a couple extra rounds of HST on us.” Big Grin

Being that this was a competition gun, I'm very curious if any of the parts are factory, especially the trigger; what are the chances that some of these guns (or this one particularly), have/had adjustable triggers with the pre-travel take-up over extended so the trigger movement is as minimal as possible @ go time?

To be very fair to Sig, only department guns and military guns should really be counted when looking for spontaneous discharges. So many personally owed guns and competition guns are so modified, the only factory part left is the serial number on the FCU…

Competition shooters are notorious for screwing around with their equipment. I would not hold it against Sig (or any company) if someone dinked around with the internals. If it had OEM parts, it should be fair game.

USPSA really needs to release a statement with their side of the story. The range officer had to be standing over her when it happened.

It's just mind-boggling that out of almost 350 competitors, the incident reportedly involved a holstered P320.

I believe the point pedropcola is making is that the claim of the pistol going off in the holster, untouched, is improbable, but, people are buying those stories, and perception is reality and this perception makes police departments and shooting ranges and gun stores and the like, wary of their liability, which, in turn, is bad for SIG.

Or something like that

Like I’ve said above and you guys are saying now. NO MATTER WHAT the horse is long out of the barn and I just don’t think there is any “fix” for this beyond a name change (new and improved blah blah, now with trigger dingus at the request of our law enforcement brothers and sisters blah blah etc.

I really do think the P320, even if there is no design or QC flaw, is a poisoned well at this point.

We (CPD) buy our own as well.
We have choices from an “Approved List”.
We’re slowly moving towards all Glocks in 9mm. That’s not my choice, as the Department rarely listens to a simple Sgt.

Another thing about purchasing your own firearm is, well, IT’S YOUR OWN FIREARM.
Most places, department issued they kinda want back. Wink

I suspect it comes down to if a cop is a “gun guy” or not. Gun guys would probably always want to buy/carry their choice.
