I don't, but if I did, I would chose the heaviest, solid bullet. Its all about penetration. I would also test it to make sure it feeds and fires reliably.

Yikes. I, like most of us I suspect, have carried a 22 at times. Usually if I carry one it is for critters. If it is for self defense my carry ammo wouldn’t be based on hp or solid it would be reliability. So on that alone I’m picking mini mags which in my experience are the most likely to light off. Mind you I don’t buy fancy expensive stuff so I have no idea if Eley and RWS or whatever is crazy reliable.
Clearly a malfunction in a Beretta Bobcat can be a chore under zero pressure. Reliability. That’s my thing in 22’s.

I haven't carried a 22LR, but I do, at times, carry a 22mag revolver. Can't remember what ammo I have for it, but that is one nasty little round. I've seen the damage it can do first hand.
