Just submitted another Form 1 today for a SBR I am building. Super easy to efile. And yes I know as a GOA member who lives in Texas I probably didn’t need to file, but who knows what will happen when the next administration takes over.

I did a Form 4 on Sunday night. Monday, being a holiday, it said it was submitted yesterday. It was approved around 4pm. So call it seven hours.

Form 1 to build a SBR submitted Monday AM and received it back this AM. 46 hours.

Got another approval today I submitted Tues. night. So just under 48 hrs.

I walked my older brother through his first ever Form 1 on Friday afternoon and it was approved yesterday morning.

My last Form 1 took over 60 days.

Looking at the form is a little intimidating for a first-timer like me.

Am I guessing it isn't worth paying Silencer Shop $50 to do it for me?

Received the SUBMITTED e-forms email from a Silencer Shop submitted Form 4 on Sunday 9/13/2026 at 13:34.
Received the APPROVED email this morning 9/15/2026 at 8:29.

It's not hard, but you have to do everything exact. I literally sat at my computer with my ATF page open and talked him through it on the phone. Took around 15 minutes.

You will need your PIN number at the end like with your suppressor.

You will need your EFT file and photo to upload under the Responsible Persons section.

You will have to measure your SBR in the collapsed position and take a photo of the side with the serial number.

The reason I love PSA/H&R receivers so much, they're under the manufacturer pull down menu and exact model is there.

You will need your Sheriff's name and address.

I've bought 3 suppressors in the last few months but have yet to fill out a Form 4 myself.
Silencer Shop did all 3 of them, and I submitted my fingerprints through their kiosk.
I did, of course, make an eForms account, but I never submitted my fingerprints to them, only a photo.
Not sure if they are in the system from what Silencer Shop did or not.

I need to figure out if it is worth the trouble for the SBR.
They won't be going out of state.
I'm not sure if it is worth putting a stock on a 15-22 or Stirbog pistol?
Although I may ultimately get a shorter-barreled upper for my 16" AR.

I'm also kinda waiting to see how this suppressor and SBR NFA stuff works out.

I may contact you in the future when I figure out what I want.

OAL for Form 1s is with the stock in the extended/unfolded position, not collapsed or folded. It doesn’t really matter though. No one is getting hassled for using the collapsed position vs extended.

The ATF agent himself that helped me at my local gun shop fill out my very first Form 1 had me do it collapsed and he said that was the rule. He said after that, they don't care what upper I put on it so long as if it is ever examined by an agent, it matches what is on the form.

Many agents are clueless about what the actual rules are. This is what is written in the instruction section of the Form 1.

Items 4e and 4f. Specify only one barrel length and overall length, as
applicable. Note: if the firearm has a folding or collapsible stock, the
overall measurement is to be made with the stock extended.

Oh man, is this true. BTW, IOIs are not agents. You'd be terrified at the disparity of knowledge between them. But dealing them is like calling the IRS a few times and getting different answers each time. You're still on the hook for your compliance.

Trust - Form 1 - approved yesterday less than two full business days after certifying.

And to think, not long ago I recall waiting ALMOST A YEAR to get an approved Form 4 from the NFA Branch!
