How so? Agents do not have access to the NFA. The NFA is actually tax data. Contrary to popular belief, they can’t just see who has what, and if they could, they would still need consent or a warrant to inspect it.

Not a Form 4, but I did submit a Form 1 Trust yesterday at 3:45 pm and it was approved at 10:52 this morning. Not too shabby.

My wait time is very long. I am waiting for suppressors to be rightfully removed out from under the NFA. I hope I live that long.

Giving them your picture, fingerprints, biometrics, DNA and first-born son for something the federal government agencies just simply buy for themselves using our money, moreso our debt, is just insane.

I submitted a customer's trust eForm 4 (1 responsible person) with paper print cards on 10/15 and got it back on 10/25. Not bad.

My first NFA item certified 4/15, via eForm with EFT at SS kiosk on dealer in stock suppressor. Waited & waited, then just lost track of time. Emailed the FIB liaison this past Friday morning, and received an approval email 15 minutes later. Makes zero sense to me. Submitted another eForm Friday afternoon in hopes I’ll see a quicker approval this round.

You were delayed. No telling how long you would've waited if you hadn't asked, maybe months, maybe a year. There's no legal requirement for them to do anything once you're delayed for an NFA check unlike with firearms, which is crazy, because they are legally considered "firearms."

So I contacted the ATF via e-mail to check on the status of my Form 4s. (I had filed some Form 1s in between Form 4s, and already received approval on those. I did this previously, after having waited much longer, and this "freed the logjam". All are filed via trust.)

This is the e-mail response I received.

quote:

Thank you for contacting the Industry Processing Branch of the National Firearms Act (NFA) Division. This is an automated message intended to address common inquiries. Answers to many questions regarding the processing of your application(s) can be found at https://www.atf.gov/qa-categor...nal-firearms-act-nfa.

Examiners are no longer assigned to NFA applications until the background check has been returned from FBI-NICS with a Proceed or Denial. If an examiner or research assistant has reached out directly to you by email regarding your application, please reply directly to those emails.

If you are contacting ATF for a status check on your NFA application, please review our average processing times located at https://www.atf.gov/resource-c...ent-processing-times. Applications exceeding the average processing times are generally due to a Delayed background check being researched by FBI-NICS. The NFA Division is unable to approve an application until we have received a Proceed back from FBI-NICS for each responsible person listed as part of the application.

If your application was submitted within the past 90 days, we will not respond to your email with a status check. The same policy applies to requests for status checks made through our call center.

If you are contacting ATF for a status check on your NFA application submitted more than 90 days ago, please reply to this email with your control number and submission date in the subject line of your email. The reply email should include your name, date of birth, transferee name (if different), and form type (Form 1, eForm 4, etc.) for each application.

The NFA Division will expedite applications for active-duty military service members with pending PCS orders. Submit your request with a signed and dated letter giving the serial number(s) and other identifying firearm information in your letter with a copy of your PCS orders. Email the letter and your PCS orders to nfafax@atf.gov. Include “Military Expedite” and your control number(s) in the subject line of the email.

The NFA Division will expedite applications for law enforcement personnel when the firearm(s) are intended for official duty use. A letter signed by the Chief Law Enforcement Officer (Sheriff or Chief) indicating that the officer has a pending application, and that the firearm is approved by the CLEO to be used as a duty weapon should be submitted to nfafax@atf.gov. Include “LE Expedite” and your control number(s) in the subject line of the email.

You can also contact other offices within the NFA Division with the following requests:

·    Government and Law Enforcement Specific Questions - NFA@atf.gov.

·    All Special Occupational Tax related questions - SOT@atf.gov.

·    Expedite Requests, VOIDS and Withdrawals, Record modifications - NFAFAX@atf.gov.

I will keep you posted. Not all of my Form 4s have passed the 90-day threshold, but some of them certainly have.

Got this follow-up this morning.

Your forms were in a delayed or researching FBI/NICS check status until just a few days ago.  The forms have now moved into the queue and will be processed by the next available examiner.

Respectfully,

Picked up a Christensen Arms Ridgeline Scout in .308 recently. Put a Silencer Co Scythe Ti in jail yesterday. Fingers crossed it makes it out to use this hunting season!

Oh, goddammit. It was too effective for us to talk to an actual examiner and find out what the hell is going on, so they did what the FBI NICS Liaison clowns did and decided to start stonewalling us. "I can't tell you to fuck off, so here's your form response in Bureaucrian that tells you to officially fuck off." I can only imagine it's this flood of first-timers emailing them incessantly after like, three days. A buddy of mine bought his first can a few weeks ago and after a week, asked me if I thought he should email them. I told him absolutely not. He got his approval at nine days.

I'm glad all your stuff came through, and I'm glad they're at least willing to look at folks at 90 days. That's still massively better than nine months or a year, but I suspect in many cases, it will simply lead to a lot of guys like you and me sitting around for 90 days and better because we got a delay when we could've had our stamps back in a few days if someone at NICS Liaison would be willing to I dunno... liaise, I guess.

I need to get off my ass and move a few things. Money has been a little tighter lately and I really want to Form 1 my Stribog. Things are working reasonably well right now, I don't want to miss the window and end up waiting six months or something to change out one bolt. Roll Eyes

I get that, absolutely. It's still light-years better than it was, and I'm thankful that the little nudge helped finish them up.

I’m not sure what’s up, I got 9 approved from mid Aug until late Sept all 2-3 days. Did 2 more on 10/18, now going on 4 weeks. Hey I get it with the old delays, but what changes to get nine in 2-3 days each to now at 4 wks?

Bought a rifle can on Wed Nov 13 and submitted all the forms that day through SilencerShop. No movement since, so it's till a crapshoot.

As if to annoy me, they approved my Form 4 just now. On a Sunday no less.

My RS9 took 3 days from the time the Form 4 was submitted. The holdup was the transfer to my dealer which took almost 2 weeks. I have a sneaking suspicion that that was due to the regular manager being out of town and the fill in not bothering to check the status...

I did a Form 1 end of October that was approved in 24 hours from submission.
