Thanks and DAMN YOU!! Czechvar Big Grin

Last Christmas I made the decision to purchase my father a good knife, and decided on an Emerson. He is entirely too practical and would never have purchased one for himself. I was planning on ordering one for myself also. We ended up buying each other one He decided on a mini CQC-7 and I got the normal non-waved CQC-7

Great Emerson CS story also included...

My father pocket carries his Kahr in right pocket and his knife in left pocket...

Well as we all know, it just been recently they have started producing a left carry version. I told him to call... He spoke with a very nice lady on the phone and explained what he would like to have done with it..she was a bit unsure so asked one of the knife mnakers that was in ear shot..His return comment was...we can do anything, just have it sent in with a note...Next day he sent it in, a week later he had it back with all of the updates for a left carry mini CQC-7 made to it

They have won my business without a doubt

after going through all 29 pages of this thread...I just ordered a mini A-100 Smile (thats where the damn you come in)

Hey, don't shoot the messenger...You ought to blame Ernie for making the knives nobody can refuse... Smile

I may have to get an A-100 or a Gentleman Jim...Everybody seems to be ordering those.

And it is a given that everyone in EKI has Ernie's attitude...once you buy an Emerson you are part of the family, and they take care of you. Every time I've called or written EKI, they make me feel like I'm their oldest and best customer. Good people...

I know just teasing a bit

Do they still make the knife with the line cutter built in (forget model)?

I have a friend that will be retiring from the Navy in about 18 months after putting in 30. Since he's on his boat much of the time fishing etc I thought it would make a good retirement gift. Will be it or the EDC-1 since he just purchased his first AR

That's the N-SAR, a model of the SARK made especially for the Navy. We had the video about it on page 4. They don't make it anymore, but someone had one a few pages ago...Yep...Chuck Finley just bought his second N-SAR (Page 27).

Chuck - Where'd you get that? Ebay?

You're thinking of the NSAR. It is not currently in the catalog. There is one on ebay ending tomorrow. It is a good auction to watch, because the seller mis-labeled it - calling it by its serial number instead of model. Please let me know in this thread or by email (in profile) if you intend to bid on this one, because then I will forgo bidding. I have mine (older) but am always on the lookout to acquire more, not only because 2 is 1 and 1 is none, but in order to gift to family/friends.

Your pic and story are great with you and your dad, and the knives you each have will both stand the test of time for the story to be retold for a long time.

EDIT:
1. It would help if I gave you the auction title "Emerson 7140 Knife (Beach)"
2. Czechvar "jinx"

Yep I've had my original for a while, and picked up the "just in case" for me as you noted a few pages ago.

Speaking of which, at USN a thread has been started in which peeps can look out for each other in case a lost/stolen one turns up. I'm not trusting ebay overly these days... Roll Eyes

EDIT: Also, I'd guesstimate that this one will go for between $125-160. For perspective, a new EDC-1 is $185.

Yes, the perils of someone on ebay selling something that they don't know what they have.

The "Sled Driver" book by Suhl that was discussed in the lounge a few months ago typically sells for $800-1200. I bought one for something in the low 200s if I recall correctly, then resold it to another forum member for whatever I had in it. The interesting thing was that a goodwill in the midwest had had one they listed for something like $12 buy it now last fall. That one went quick!!

See my edits as above as well.

I shoot, fight, play with knives and get paid to write about it all. Smile

I cover the local MMA and Boxing events in Reno, promote a knife show, write for RECOIL, Blade, SWAT and a few others on spec and write 2 articles a day for tactical-officer.com and a few other sites.

Mike, that's a beautiful collection. How does he pick what he's going to make with the blue and when? "Blue moon" came up and sold recently. I was sorely tempted, and in another phase in life I would have made a serious run for it.

Something about that one looks "off", could be just bad photography, though.

I had the same thought, and I studied the pics repeatedly. I really think it is just the photography.

Snwghst, if you win and I've steered you wrong just send me an email and we'll get you taken care of.
