I wonder how much cash and stock SB offered him to tear him away from Chipotle? _________________________________________________________________________ “A man’s treatment of a dog is no indication of the man’s nature, but his treatment of a cat is. In order to move as much coffee as Starbucks does, they have to buy a shit ton of coffee beans, which means they can't be picky. They buy huge amounts on the commodities markets and go for the best price. Then the over roast it to make it all taste the same - burnt. Then the fill it with other shit to hide the burnt taste. Maybe Millennials and Gen Z will learn that the reason they can't afford a home is because they spend way too much money on coffee, bottled water, "unlimited data" cell phone service, and other non-essentials.

Lefty, perhaps you’ve been imbibing a bit too much whiskey with your coffee Case Shiller, adjusted housing prices corrected for inflation: Although I’m sure coffee and bottled water add up a bit, I believe housing prices costing more than double the prior generations likely has a bit more impact. If you were right, and millennials and gen z were pricing themselves out of buying housing because of their consumption habits, we would see a drop in prices, not a rise…

I was never a fan of starbucks, coffee was to expensive for what you get, taste didn't appeal to me and their woke policies kept me out of their stores.

In my small unincorporated area they just built a free standing Starbucks literally across the street from a newly built free standing Scooters also across from a whataburger that sells coffee and 100 yards cattycorner from a gas station with a food area inside that sells hot brewed gas station coffee as well as cold coffee drinks all a few miles down the road from a locally owned mom and pop independent coffee /smoothie /fancy sandwich lounge that my daughter and her friend will go to and hang out. I heard The owners of this place go to my church but I never met them. No idea how they are all surviving. Never see any cars in Starbucks lot.

Void Where Prohibited |
I've never been a fan of Starbucks, either. It wouldn't bother me at all if they went out of business - it would be better for the little local shops. The only times I had their coffee was when work would buy it for us. I guess if you like coffee drinks they're OK since there's so much other stuff in the cup. Their straight coffee tastes burnt. Get my pies outta the oven! |
Starbucks downfall began when they started shifting from a hip place to hang out and meet friends and have coffee to a take-out only place serving their overpriced swill. There are also a LOT of small independent coffee shops now that ARE doing what Starbucks USED to do and they are feeling the effect of that too. There's a place in Exton, PA (and also at Shady Maple) that does amazing coffee now called Twin Valley Coffee and their cold brew is awesome, it's like brown liquid crack. Starbucks is awful in comparison.

I don't ruin my whiskey with coffee and I resent that you think I would! Maybe I should say "the reason they are broke all the time". Despite the increase in housing and rent, which is a by-product of COVID, paying $20/day for shit coffee (2 large foofy cups a day) is over $7K a year and would go a long way towards better things. Every time I went on the road with millennials, they had to stop at Starbucks TWICE in a 5 hour drive. It's also one reason why people keep getting fatter. Women have said "I don't know why I'm not losing weight, I barely eat!" while consuming the equivalent calories of two milkshakes in their coffees. And when I go to the airport for an early flight I see a line across the whole terminal for Starbucks, waiting for it to open. I go across the aisle from the Starbucks to the awesome local Steakhouse branch and get a more relaxing morning drink, with the professional travelers (of which I am one).

Fighting the good fight |
You'd also ramble in lengthy run-on sentences if you had just consumed a Starbucks coffee, a Scooters coffee, a Whataburger coffee, a gas station cold coffee drink, and a mom and pop coffee smoothie, all in the span of a few minutes.
