What Disney is doing is just the latest in a long line of mega corporations acting on the cold hard business fact that their future fortunes are in China and to a lesser extent India. Those markets dwarf the United States. So they will follow the path of least resistance here, which is to turn left and go woke, regardless of the impact on domestic business, because your dollars are becoming increasingly irrelevant to their bottom line. Not saying we shouldn't stop supporting them....I haven't brought a Disney product into my home or traveled to their parks in years. Just don't think it will make a difference to them because you are not their target consumer anymore.

The Disney corporation hasn't cared about individuals or people who are die hard fans and go every year.

They cater to the "once in a lifetime" crowd who will do anything, pay anything and put up with anything because they're only going to do it once.

I've run into a bunch of them over the years and said a long time ago they'd be the cause of the ruination of Disney.

I own a piece of land near WDW that I've never seen and have thought I'd go to Florida and see it, with a visit to WDW while I was there. No more. WDW is off the books. (I've no children to try to convince me otherwise.)

This doesn't explain adopting woke positions because the PRC and India don't give a rat's ass about woke policy and social positions. Do you really think the Chinese think is important that bathrooms don't refer to gender?

I'm amazed I didn't turn out to be a sociopath with the unfettered access to 1980s cable TV I had growing up. Well, I take that back. My brother that was 6yrs older than me "babysat" me over the summers. That means covering my eyes for the shadowy "sex scene" in Top Gun and being sworn that if I ever pull the "you know, the finger" he'd break it off. I used to draw pictures of fighter planes shooting down other planes and guns and what not at school though too. Pretty sure that won't play well with the school administration today.

Shit like this is why I won't move back to the Orlando area and especially Orange County. Crooked sons of bitches kowtowing to the dollars of disney. disney brings in too much money and supply people with jobs. I've always believed that disney hurts Orlando more than it helps. They might bring in jobs but they're low paying, service jobs. Same with the jobs that support disney: fast food, gas stations, hotels, etc. And it's made the traffic so much worse.

You go north on I-4 to Lake Mary and they have tech, consulting, etc.

China doesn't give a shit about queer this or gay that but if the commies tell disney to not utter a word of it in china, disney will shut up and play ball. They saw what happened to the NBA when Daryl Morey spoke up for Hong Kong and against China.

We quit Disney in the 1980's. Just listing the names of all the movies up to then showed a striking concentration on witchcraft and the occult. And I noted that Walt was the source of a lot of that.

Go ahead, recite the filmograpy and you will see it.

Not too many were aware and fewer were even willing to acknowledge it. We quit celebrating Halloween about the same time, too, and tried to put that holiday in perspective for our children. Disney is rarely part of our life now, their expansion into many other areas is typical business expansion but suspect, too.

The current management has apparently decided to destroy the company, and I for one say good riddance.

Think old school Disney.

Now tell me how many of the evil characters were women?

How many of the protagonists were vulnerable and weak women, needing a man to “save” them?

Daughter has Disney plus, there are a lot of the older movies that we watch, the new stuff not so much.

So apparently the Committee to Rectumfy the Evils of Disney Past have decided we need to see an apology for the previous lack of concern over minority or evil whatever the hell they think that Baloo the Bear represents, a wokeness statement on the screen at the beginning of these films like Fox and the Hound, Jungle Book et al so we know that while they are making money off us, we should know they didn't mean to be so mean and uncaring about the feelings of others....

That's what the FF buttons for though...

Some things they won't put out at all, like "Sound of the South." I have preserved copies of stuff that I think they will try to scrub in the future. The Disney of today may be a mess, but they did some good work in the past. I like their old movies like "Swiss Family Robinson" and the movies from the Haley Mills era (Parent Trap, Pollyanna).

They have no choice in the matter if their main products (at least the directly Disney branded ones) are child oriented. Younger people may be having less children the prior generations, but younger people are the ones having children. Conservatives tend to be older, and past their child bearing years.

So it's the 20-40 YOs who are having the children that are being born. The Millennials are 24-41 YO. They tend to serious wokeness, and Gen Z, who are now getting into prime childbearing years, are even woker. They decide what their children see and where they go on vacation. That's who they're pandering to. Anyone 45+ doesn't count any more.

Perhaps, but who is really 'the woke'. They're younger people primarily, those who have been successfully indoctrinated in public school and college. Statistically, these people aren't marrying and having children as prior generations have. They are also poorer as a group than more conservative leaning demos are (and Disney vacations and products aren't cheap). As a 'thinking/intelligent' CEO or senior manager at Disney, I would not wish to hang my corporate profits and growth on that particular demo. Personally, I think Disney, just like Gillette, is out over their skis, and is looking at a huge face plant coming to them. I hope it comes soon, I hope its incredibly painful, and I hope a large group of Disney higher ups lose their jobs as a result of it.

Yes, no rated R, no nudity, PG-13 tops. That's why we have so many super hero movies because they play very well in China. CCP is very "pro-family-values" with respect to marriage, children, and the nuclear family. They are stepping it up a lot trying to get younger people to marry and have at least 2 kids because of the impending population crash.

As said above, China is not "woke" at all and does not want any gay or trans stuff and will either not permit such movies or get their own versions without that content. Xi recently announced a ban on "girly men" bands (K-pop) and effeminate celebrities.

Disney is trying to appeal to 20-somethings that will be having children soon, and if you didn't know about 16% of Gen Z identifies as LGBTQ+ of some sort or another. Millennials are around 9% and Gen X is 4%. So the growth is exponential and everyone will be LGBTQ+ in two more generations.

As for the Disney executive woman lacking any normal kids - I think she is actively teaching her children to be something other than what they are naturally. Putting ideas in their heads they otherwise would not have thought up.
