Most of the time, I come to this forum for news because I avoid TV news and most web based "news" sites. But during these particular times, I don't want to know the details, because it is all manufactured chaos, it's like going by the same fuckin' car crash everyday. I have seen other forums where there are over a dozen stupid threads on this shit, plus the obligatory sky-is-falling-Trump-won't-win bullshit. There is a music site I used to visit, they avoided politics for years, but not now. This Democrat, T.D.S clusterfuck will not stop for the rest of the year, and I am only too pleased not to wallow in this type of misery at this site. My eye is on the prize in November.

Amen. Sometime shortly after New Years, I posted something here to the effect of “strap in, folks, 2020 is going to be a wild ride.” We’re looking at easily another five months of manufactured “look, a squirrel!” type crises, and likely much longer. Their 2015/2016 playbook didn’t work, so they had to reinvent their offense in the off season and this is what the game looks like now.

I would love to read and participate in discussion about it here. But it’s been made very clear that this isn’t permitted. So when I feel the need to find out what the news isn’t telling me, I have two other gun forums with running threads about it, one local and one huge forum with an 800+ page thread about it. One keeps me appraised of the local developments and the other on the national scale. I can only handle it in small doses, though, before my blood begins to boil and my mood turns to shit. When this happens, I understand why Para doesn’t want to have it in Sigforum.

We live in interesting times. Strap in and hang on, folks. And Para, thank you for this fine gathering place.

So that's why I never win one!

And I know for a fact that more than a few members here agree with this philosophy, in this particualtr instance. I'm sick of it, don't hear it, can't do anything about it but ignore it, and that's what I want us to do here- ignore it.

I wish I could be more like you. There are so many things going on that it's hard to not be upset and discouraged at times. There is nothing I can do about it, but it's hard for me to ignore it because it is important to be informed and aware. If we disengage it almost feels like we would be contributing, so I'm not sure what to do. When I read things in the news this is the first place I go because it is full of like minded members who are pretty amazing and that starts at the top.

Thanks for giving us this forum. It would be great to be able to talk about some of these things with everyone, but your position is clear and understandable.

I can't get through to some of you. A post just got caught in the moderation queue.

How 'bout a trial run? How 'bout we shut this forum down until Saturday? Then you guys can get reminded of why this happened, everytime you reflexively, absentmindedly try to log into the forum and instead see "Closed".

Sound good?

I would be afraid that the problem children would not realize what caused the closure. If they don't follow directions now, will they learn?

You don't want to do this. You don't want to say things like that, because I'll turn it off right now. I am NOT fucking around. Do I sound like I'm kidding and in a jovial mood?

Try me

That doesn’t sound good to me. I cherish this forum and it’s membership. I now a good portion of my information about world events from the vast membership here. Around 2013 I quit watching cable TV almost entirely and cut out cable news from my life entirely. It was a good move. I just don’t trust the media or other sources to be as honest and objective as the membership here. The respectful and intelligent conversation here is something you just don’t see that much anymore online. This forum is incredible.

Well, how many more times should I say the same thing? Got a number for me? Five? Three? Fifty?

One way or another, and I do mean that- one way or another, this riot shit will be out of my sight. What's it going to be?

I am patient with a thing until I am patient no more, and then, I become quite unreasonable. That's the next stop on this bus trip.

I dunno' Boss, that would kind of be like closing down a family. At least for some of us.

I know you are dead serious, but think of those that don't have much more than this place in their lives.

Just sayin' yo'.

You guys can't police anything that doesn't show up in the forum, so this is a tough one. You didn't see it and won't see it, so I know that members are staring at their screen right now and wondering what I expect them to do.

I am sick of "Oh, I didn't know" or "Oh, I didn't think."

One way or another, gents, this shit will be out of my sight. I have had it. I'm not going to continue to say what I've already said.

There is always one in a crowd. My mother would simply say YOU are the reason we cannot have nice things. My football coaches would make us run 50 yard windsprints while you watched. The outcome was unpleasant.

Para,

If you want to take a break or retire, I can live with it. There's no way I could ride herd on this forum. You've done a fantastic job. No matter what you decide, I appreciate my time here, and I would love for it to continue.
