I drive a Tundra which most consider a truck. However I do none of those things you have listed. There are nearly infinite things one can do with a truck. I own a Ridgeline and it’s definitely a truck. I tow with it. I use the bed. Didn’t make any sense for me to spend more money on a body on frame that handles worse. The Ridgeline is actually the best pavement handling truck on the market. That’s down to the AWD system and the Unibody construction, which I greatly prefer over body on frame. Inherit handling differences. Its towing and payload capacities met my criteria for function. It has a higher payload capacity than a Raptor. I could have wasted an extra 20k on a full size domestic, but I don’t like wasting money. It’s hard work earning it. I’m glad it exists. It forced other manufacturers to make compact trucks, that are built for reality instead of fiction, towing airplanes down runways in commercials and the like. In 2019 I test drove everything on the market. Gas, diesel, full size, compacts, and was honest about my needs for it. Thinking and driving everything, saved me a lot of money. What am I doing? I own a Ridgeline as well. My first was a 2018 and now a 2023. Having owned a T100, F150, and Tundra prior, I considered a Ridgeline, ruled it out, then reconsidered it, and the more I studied what it did better than traditional body on frame mid-size or 1/2 ton trucks, the more sense it made so that's what I bought in 2018. It was trouble free other than a recall for the back up camera cable. When I decided to replace my 2018 (after 5 years) I looked long and hard at everything out there including the new GM mid size trucks and briefly at 1/2 ton trucks. But compared to a Ridgeline they offered no advantages for me only a lot of disadvantage. I think that if this Cvber Truck has a 3,500 lb. payload capacity, it will have a very harsh ride. Kind of like my F350. Is there some sort of space age suspension technology involved with the Cyber Truck? ---------------------------------------------------- Dances with Crabgrass | |||

I'm with you there. My truck (2001 2500HD Extended Cab Long Bed) doesn't get driven that many miles per year, but when it does it's for truck stuff. It has an 8' bed, and I haul framing lumber and plywood sheets all the time. It has a 4000+lb payload capacity, and I've filled that full-size bed with mulch, straw bales, shingles, top soil, manure, or rock on more than one occasion. It also tows my boat and our little camper trailer like they're not even back there, and you can toss our 10' kayaks and fishing gear in the bed without having them stick 4 feet out the back, mess with a roof rack, or worry about getting the interior of an SUV all muddy and wet. I've heard complaints about the bed-rail height on the newer/bigger trucks, and while I'll admit it's a little harder to get small things in and out of the bed over the rails, I like the high tailgate as it doubles as a great workbench when I'm framing or siding a house, and I've even used it as scaffolding when working on gutters. A good truck is something I wouldn't want to be without. I have a Suburban for family stuff, and a little Mazda 3 for running around town...trucks are for truck things. The cybertruck doesn't appear well-designed for any of that stuff. | |||

air suspension. I own a Model X which also has air suspension and adjustable shocks. I can set the ride height high and plush for gravel roads or low and firm for sports car handling. Not space age technology but tech that's been around since the mid 90's I guess when Mercedes AMG used it on their premium sedans. | |||

This guy shows that it was misleading. He gets into quite a bit of detail in his calculations but it is rather interesting. While the race is not truthful, he still does have some respect for the Tesla in his conclusion, based on the calculations that he made. | |||

Your above 'truck' definition sounds like a 3/4ton or bigger. Never seen a half ton with a gooseneck/5th wheel And when I needed to get a pallet of something when I worked for a dealership I'd get a 1 ton DRW. For my uses, something midsized would suit me fine, over a half ton. Tacoma, Ridgeline would both work. Avalanche, I knocked them for a long time until I drove one. It's effectively a Suburban with the cargo area cut off. Rides on coil spring instead of leaves & makes for a great highway truck. The Enemy's gate is down. | |||

I’ve seen a bunch of them now, including 3 up close that I actually had to walk past in parking lots. They are hideous. The look has not gotten any better on them.
