Massie is so full of shit, IMO is on the same playing field as Marjorie Taylor Greene; like her he's obsessed with the Epstein files and anti-Israel. Trump can't stand Massie, a guy who along with Rashida Tlaib, voted against a House resolution affirming Israel's right to exist. He was the lone Republican to vote against the SAVE Act, same with funding ICE. Fuck Massie.

Eff him!

Another RINO outs himself. I'm sure that Hakeem Jeffries is giving him a nice pat on the head. And I am sure that Hakeem doesn't have to reach far to do it.

Most Republicans are weasels; I don’t know about Massie in particular.

But Massie is not wrong.

He is in fact entirely correct.

If anyone but Trump did this you would be screaming like a stuck pig.

Are you willing to put your boots in Tehran? Your child’s? Your grandchild’s?

I am good with Trump’s action. I’m not going to Tehran, nor is my child (but could be, depending on Trump’s desire to Nation-Build a ME stone-age ‘democracy’ across decades).

More importantly someone needed to push Iran’s shit in, since Carter and everyone since has failed to do so. Trump brilliantly exploited Supreme Leader’s meeting with his underlings.

And Massie (per above) is still 100% correct.

Bipartisan revolt targets Trump's war powers after massive Iran strikes

FoxNews link

Here we are again, with the weasels in Congress trying to get in the way of getting things done.

One more reason to dislike Tim Kaine:
quote:
Sen. Tim Kaine, D-Va., has repeatedly forced votes to curb Trump’s war powers abroad, and he was nearly successful in halting further military action in Venezuela until Republicans blocked the effort earlier this year.

Kaine had already prepped his latest resolution, co-sponsored by Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., for a vote in the Senate next week. He argued Saturday that the strikes, carried out without congressional approval, further underscore why a vote should be held immediately.

"These strikes are a colossal mistake, and I pray they do not cost our sons and daughters in uniform and at embassies throughout the region their lives," Kaine said in a statement. "The Senate should immediately return to session and vote on my War Powers Resolution to block the use of U.S. forces in hostilities against Iran.”

The only things Tim and his buddies would do are a) get in the way, and b) blab the plans to the world before action was taken. Jerks.

Grrr! Mad

Politicians seem to have forgotten that they work for us, not the other way around.

President Trump didn’t declare war on Iran. He declared war on Khamenei. And won.

Wait, I thought the Gang of 8 were briefed prior to this action. Wasn’t that the issue they were bitching about after the Maduro raid? I swear these morons do this just to hear themselves talk.

Don't believe the lies from the Democrats, the RINOs like Massie, and legacy media that the President needs a declaration of war to attack Iran. Congress passed the War Powers Resolution in 1973 which requires "in the absence of a declaration of war" that a president report to Congress within 48 hours after introducing United States military forces into hostilities. The WPR mandates that operations must end within 60 days absent congressional approval. Therefore, the Trump Administration has until Monday morning to brief Congress and be in compliance with WPR. It could be argued that the briefing to the "Gang of 8" already fulfilled that obligation.

Since 1973, the War Powers Resolution has been used 132 times and every President except Nixon (he was embroiled in Watergate and was only in office 275 days after WPR passed) has utilized it since its passing. Clinton holds the record with 38 times, Obama is in 2nd place with 28 times, Biden is in 3rd place, Reagan is in 4th place, Trump is in 5th place, Bush 2 is in 6th place, Bush 1 is in 7th place, Ford is in 8th place, and Carter is in last place.

Additionally, there has not been a declaration of war from Congress since WW2, but we've been to war multiple times. Congress thinks they are shielded from blame by giving repeated 60 day approvals to past Presidential actions instead of declaring wars. In other words, they're a bunch of bloviating, paper tigers.

Thank you, tatortodd. That is a great answer and better than the one I was going to give.

Great info on the use of the War Powers Act too.

As Mark Levin said today regarding Congressional Democrats whining that only Congress has the power to declare war, "declare" war all you want - or don't - it doesn't change the president's power under the US Constitution.
