I surfed over to CNN and Van Jones was going ballistic about how Trump's speech made him afraid...really made him afraid...he said it made him think of George Wallace...OOHHHHH he was afraid Roll Eyes...

That commie shit just needs to go to his safe space and suck his thumb or something.

Lol. Yeah I've been forced to watch CNN the last couple nights and while the commentary has been mostly positive tonight was the typical shit show. The one older white guy was trying to say we need to unite as Americans and the Mexican chick was telling him we can't and he can't understand why because he is white. Then Van Jones started talking about how afraid he was and I put my headphones in. Pussies.

I know the song very well and it's meaning.

Just seemed out of place regardless of how true.

Well if you think CNN was bad you should have had to watch the commie bastiges on PBS. 6 trolls not one of which had anything good to say about anything that happened. I'm surprised they didn't defend the protester.

The problem, is the low info voters will listen to the likes of Van Jones and their spin instead of listening to the actual words themselves. I heard concern for the plight of minorities, the idea of school choice to improve, concern for poverty rates, etc.

None so deaf as those who will not hear...

first speech of the convention I've watched

it was pretty good, but I think when he softened his voice and spoke normally rather than shouting he had a far better impact

but it merely solidified what I already knew, but it was really nice to hear it on tv for a change - and he didn't seem to mind slamming it to the media either

The one time I'm glad I had Directv. Channel 347 IIRC was all convention, start to finish; no commercials; no talking head assholes. Quite the enjoyment.

Listening to "Focus group" comments on Fox...

What really is the point of abstaining and refusing to vote for either candidate? I can understand being disappointed with the options, but to proudly proclaim that you won't vote for either?

Why are you there? Just go home and sit out the process. Like it or not, there are ONLY two possible outcomes to this election. It is going to be Trump or Clinton. Not voting or voting for some no-chance candidate serves no purpose. Do you really think either party is going to look at the dissatisfied folks and make any sweeping changes to the process?

There was black woman in the group who said she would never vote Hillary because she was a murderer and would never vote Trump because he was racist. Did she listen to him speak? The moderator called her out on why she called Hillary a "murderer" but totally ignored challenging her on the racist statement.

One positive, out of the group of 15 or so who all claim to have been "undecided" at the start, 7 said they were now learning Trump, 6 said they couldn't vote for either and NO ONE said they would vote Hillary, the remaining few still claimed undecided.

Cnn is dropping the fear tactics because they themselves are afraid. Once the hat changes teflon don will kick em out of the press conferences.

They are scared. It will be like baghdad bob until the end. They will deny trump is in the whitehouse when they watch him walk in.

I disagree about the "shouting". He wasn't shouting, as far as I'm concerned. He was being very passionate, and quite effective. I know a lot of people don't like his style, but it suits me just fine.

The only thing almost as epic as Trump's speech, was watching the CNN commentators try to throw down on each other. And I am pretty sure the one time Bush supporter is voting for Clinton Wink

I listened to his speech. What I kept thinking every time he hit a point that made me nod or seized my breath at the thought of having a real leader heading in the right direction, I thought to myself, I don't think he's the clown this thread labels him as. He may have been before. He may be again. But tonight, he sounded to my heart the way Reagan did. He sounded genuine. He sounded righteous. He spoke to me. I don't think he is a clown.

Best acceptance speech I have heard in a really long time.

Did anyone else catch the comment that Ivanka made about how she will be by Trump's side even after he gets elected? I'm thinking Chief of Staff.

Rachael Madcow quoted a tweet from David Duke and then said Trump is the gateway drug to the Klan. Seriously, they are in full freak out mode. They see him winning.

He sounded genuine

One of the things that struck me yesterday was how there seems to have been a consistent thread of basic sincerity and love for country throughout many of the speeches and speakers, Donald included, which only stood out because of how unusual its become. It also lacked any real sense of crazy, at all. There are little bits I disagree with, mind you, but not much.

And I could hardly be more cynical and suspicious (and sick) of most politicians and people in general who are trying to feed me bullshit in one form or another... And while I'm not foolish enough to view him or anyone else this week as perfect, nor do I believe everything will get done, or as quickly, it's been refreshingly real and bullshit free.

Whatever happens, this is certainly the best chance we've had in a long time, both because of the strength of our side, imperfections and all, and of the weaknesses of our opponents, and just watching this process unfold has made obvious how half assed and misguided and weak our last two attempts/elections were. Wow, what a joke it's been, for years.
