After initial qualifications on the boat, we head back for more interviews to validate that we could serve as Potential Naval Engineer Officers in the Submarine Force.

The culture of the Submarine community is based upon every member holding a questioning attitude, enforcing doctrine, and holding others to account. Do we want to become an army of yes-men, endorsing Donald Trump despite his copious flaws? Are we supposed to mirror the sympathetic media that has let Obama escape unchallenged for the last eight years? Are we to be satisfied with an echo chamber?

There is no intent to troll.

Are you sworn to protect this country? You place it in peril by voting other than Trump or abstaining. That's not hyperbole; I truly believe the stakes are that high.

That's absolutely priceless. If only WC had been a Yank, although his origin was probably divine providence. (not to sound like Ted Cruz, BTW).

As I remind my British friend, Winston Churchill's mother was a Yank and he had Yank blood in his veins.

Let's look at the oath I swore upon accepting appointment to the rank of Lieutenant, with some emphasis.

I, [name], do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.

With that emphasis, could it be that I see Donald Trump as a threat to the Constitution?

Free speech? He will “open up the libel laws” to allow public officials to sue the media, and use the Federal Communications Commission to fine critics. Private property? To Trump, eminent domain is a “wonderful thing” and is not actually “taking property” because the owner can move “two blocks away.” Faithfully executing the law? His harebrained scheme to make Mexico pay for the border wall ignores the clear text of a statute and unilaterally prohibits foreign commerce. Serving as commander in chief? Trump has already pledged that he would violate international treaties and domestic law. The military “won’t refuse” his illegal orders. “Believe me,” he promised. Protecting our national security? Trump has lauded FDR’s internment of Japanese Americans, one of the darkest hours in the history of our Republic. And what about the Supreme Court? Assuming he keeps his promise to appoint conservative jurists — and that this promise is not merely a negotiating tactic — Trump’s approach would likely mirror that of George W. Bush: appoint justices who will defer to bold assertions of federal power. Judicial minimalist, thy name is John Roberts

Someone has to fill time between commercials with the HiLIARly hate before more unifying speeches are done. At least he gave me time to catch up on the latest with Cruz. I agree with Krauthammer. Last nite was the suicide note. This morning with the Texas delegation, Cruz completed the act.

Yes it was, I listened to it twice,

Los Angeles real estate investor Tom Barrack, who will speak at the convention tonight, held Trump's first major fundraiser in at his Santa Monica estate in May.

Tickets started at $25,000 and went up to $100,000 per couple. It was the Republican nominee's first official GOP fundraiser and came at the beginning of Trump's march to legitimizing his candidacy with the party establishment.

Since then, Barrack, a billionaire who owns private equity firm Colony Capitol, has co-founded Rebuilding America Now, a pro-Trump super PAC.

Barrack's firm bought and recently sold Miramax, was once in the running to purchase the L.A. Dodgers and once rescued Michael Jackson's Neverland Ranch in a $22.5-million deal.

Barrack has also worked with Trump on "many real estate deals," according to his GOP speaker bio.

He is also a former deputy undersecretary for the Department of the Interior in the Reagan administration.

I heartily endorse C-SPAN for viewing this week!

Never figured GE Smith of SNL fame and his band would be the house band at RNC. You get them without interruption on C-SPAN at each Big Media commercial break.

LOL Yeah two have never been used. Got plenty of other mugs around here. BTW those NAVSEA08 mugs were presentos I received on one visit to them back when.

Our young confused nuke LT may never have heard the stories of junior officers running around trying to score extra small khakis for ADM Rickover when he would show up unannounced to visit a nuclear shipyard. His legendary interviews of prospective nuclear officers are only a small portion of a litany of anecdotes out there.

Anyone gonna tell domcintosh that he's drinking the kool aid directly from the DNC playbook with all those out of context slams against DJT?

Note too that domintosh make no effort to contrast the real transgressions of the Hildabeast or acknowledge that any true comparison of the candidates must label one as anathema to our Union. Again truly sad.

Donald (Sr.) is an odd dude, odd looking and such, his delivery, too, and it's part of what drives or aggravates some people's dislike for him, like a louder and more orange Christie but with crazy hair and an even weirder accent. It's irrational and irrelevant, but it happens a lot, and some people stop there. But Donald Sr. is no monster, despite his odd appearance, and the dude has produced some solid kids, and that's no small thing.

I know and have met hordes of people his kids ages, from all across the socioeconomic spectrum, around the US and a bit around the world, and his kids are not the product of a crazy nutjob, or a dictator, and it takes particular conditions to produce them, conditions that extend well beyond simply having money, and these kids (notably Donald Jr and Eric) know what's up to a degree that places them in the top few percentage of their respective age groups in that way (knowing what's up).

Eric, a whopping 32yo, all normal and prep school looking, the benefit of a new generation of all things Trump, like his siblings, does an admirable job at humanizing their dad and bringing crazy (mis)perceptions about him back down fo Earth, via both his actions/words and just being who he is and who they are. And if this kid, Eric, even believes half of what he's saying, he by himself would genuinely be better at running the country than the entire Administration running it now. And that's just one of his kids. He (Eric) gets it:

No need to "lecture" or "educate" me. I spent quite a bit of time at MINSY back in the day (as both an officer and civilian) as well as making a few trips to "08." Couple of good friends are retired NRRO. But my career took me to other venues and communities as well.

There's a hell of a difference between "yes-men" and pessimistic ney (intentionally spelled that way) sayers such as you've portrayed yourself here. But neither are laudable.
Fantastic. Don't impugn my character as a naval officer, either directly or via implication, and I won't feel obligated to make statements in defense of the same. Third generation military, with over 50 years of service before me and nearly 10 in my own name. Insult me personally till the earth stops spinning, but don't insinuate that I want anything less then the best for these United States of America.

Anyone hearing this speech who is anti-Trump but claims to want a strong conservative is a liar.

This is what we need. No political correctness here.
