Nearly 500 post in and I'm just posting my first to this thread...

It seems that the far Left and the far Right have determined that the next president MUST be one of them or else. Or else what?

Truly, with the possible exception of Barack Hussein Obama (who posed as a moderate), the country has pretty well settled on middle-of-the-road candidates. Bill Clinton had to drift to the center in order to get elected. Even Ronald Reagan, who the conservatives hold up on a pedestal, was once a Democrat.

I wasn't a Trump fan originally, and there were times I cringed when he would open his mouth. But he resonates with the "pissed-off centrists" who will ultimately decide this election. The thirty percent Left and thirty percent Right will vote their party every time. It's the 40% undecided who will determine the outcome.

Trump says things no other polished politician will say. Politicians are schooled in "weasel words" and in non-answers. Trump is a New York "street smart" guy, who talks fast and doesn't mind whose feelings he hurts.

Ted Cruz is acting like a petulant child. Although he made an adult pledge (crafted so that Donald would cave, not believing he would actually win), Cruz is now being pissy because his feelings got hurt. Guess what, Ted? Politics is a blood sport. If you can't take it, don't bother trying to give it. Donald not only takes it, but rebounds it better than anyone recently seen.

"Crooked Hillary?" You bet. Hammer that theme, don't run away from it. Make the public so aware of Hillary's crookedness and "exceptional carelessness" that no one in their right mind could pull the handle for her.

For good or worse, Trump is the nominee. No, he's not a conservative. No, he's not Hillary Clinton (thank God!). Right now, he's the best we've got, which while may not be saying much, is what we've got to live with.

Pretending otherwise is hiding one's head in the sand, hoping the danger will go away.

You can't truly call yourself "peaceful" unless you are capable of great violence. If you're not capable of great violence, you're not peaceful, you're harmless.

For those who are thinking about staying home come election day because you don't like either one running, remember this the winner gets to pick at least two maybe three to SCOTUS. That will effect how the country will continues in either a conservative or liberal path. I'm a single issue voter and always have been. If the man or woman running is a strong supporter of the 2A then they have my vote. While Zero has tried to remove our rights to firearms, if Hillary gets to pick the judges then we will surely loose those rights. Trump is a craze but he's better then other plus Mrs Trump makes for a real good looking 1st Lady. Chris

WTH is all this babble? I would argue against every point you just made, but whats the point. Your wrong on every one of them, but it really don't matter. It's either Trump or Hillary now. Do you want Hillary as President, yes or no? 2 choices. For real, if you ain't gonna vote for Trump (no matter what), have the conviction & decency to actually vote for Hillary.

The only conspiracy i see is trump offered a scotus spot to ted for non endorsement.

Or trump played ted, got his free press(again). Either way it worked for trump and possibly for ted.

Some people smokin the drapes in this thread. Again its hillary or trump. Remember hillary? The same bitching you did in the obama and hillary threads the last 8 years, ya that hillary. The same hillary that broadcast on cnn that she likes australias gun laws and we should take thier model.

Really, really really really really really tough choice here... maybe Para can turn this into an affordable healthcare act forum for the folks with a conscience not voting for the republican candidate.

Ok, vote for Hillary. See what kind of damage she does to conservative values. I hate to be the one to tell you but conservatism is dead. Hell, Conservatives are likely the reason we were drubbed in the last couple of elections. They couldn't hold their nose or get off their asses to vote for the lesser of the evils and Obama won two elections with conservatives staying home. Brilliant!! What kind of damage did he do to conservative values? He did enough damage that we wont be able to fix it with one or two elections wins.

You have to look at the whole package...his family, their upbringing, The Apprentice program, etc., and his early schooling and endeavors which can have a huge impact on your future.

To me he has probably gone to the Kepner Tregoe school for problem analysis and decision making. His strategy was to let the past presidential candidates present to see what page they were on to determine future candidates for his Cabinet, etc. Now we know which ones are the assholes. Big Grin

I don't know or care which bucket The Donald's politics reside in but I know he is NOT HRf'inC and that is why I will vote for him. No he doesn't fit all of my ideals as a candidate and yes I am voting against the Hildabeast but his general choice of do what's good for America is good enough for me. It's about our country and its' survival not the person and there is no doubt where each of these candidates stands. Kick her ass and make her cry DJT.

I think last night was Ted Cruz's George HW Bush "No new taxes" moment...or perhaps his Marco Rubio "Gang of 5" moment.

He may be able to come back, but I don't think he will on the national stage.

I've heard it said today that Reagan didn't endorse Ford after being beat in the primary of 1976. I looked it up and it's true, he didn't explicitly endorse him and did not do any campaigning for him, but it was a different time and a different election. There was no 24/7 news and no expectation had been set that Reagan would explicitly endorse Ford. Ford was the ultimate establishment candidate and Reagan was running as an outsider.

Once the expectation was set that Cruz would endorse since he agreed to speak, he should have endorsed or declined the invitation to speak. Bad move on Cruz's part, and I don't think it really hurts Trump.

If Trump wins, then Cruz is out of commission for a long, long time. If Trump loses, people like Cruz will be blamed for not supporting him. He loses either way, when a simple "I'm voting for Donald Trump" would have put him in a better position either way. Whether he meant it or not. Very bad move for Cruz.

It's probably wishful thinking on my part, but I could see Trump playing the game better than the rest yet again, and being the bigger man again, the one who puts America first again, and ultimately appointing Cruz to the Court as both a way to get his thorny ass out of the way in the Senate (which probably relieves a pain in President Trump's ass if he wins), and to show how he can forgive and forget and still do what's best for the country, further building his positive brand and image in that capacity, and doing what's right, and benefiting himself in a balance that he seem to do very, very well.

It seems, in a few ways, that Donald Trump is demonstrating, much to the sounds of gnashing teeth and disbelief from many, that much of America (and the world) really is more like a vapid TV Reality show than we'd like to believe, that many common folks are that fairly simple, that many people are that predictable, and that the media and pop culture are that complicit and able to be manipulated by those who understand it. Trump is tearing down a variety of facades, imo, which is very interesting to watch.

I do think Trump sincerely loves the country and all that, and I don't mean that he's treating it all like some silly game or TV show, it's no joke or ruse to elect Hillary or destroy the country or anything like that, but he is consistently demonstrating that he can win, succeed, and so on, and it seems rooted in his basic understanding of people/deals.

Which is surprising, to me. But it's hard to argue after watching the man work/play...

This is similar to what Major Garrett of CBS said. I agree: If Trump had refused to let Cruz speak at the last hour, news reports would have been negative on Trump. Poor, poor Ted. But Trump set it up for Cruz to fail and he stepped in it/on it. Bu bye Ted.

Trump gave Cruz just enough rope to get the job done. he hung himself real good.

just look at all of the former Cruz supporters in this thread, very pissed off to say the least!!
