You must be referring to some other guy named Donald Trump. If you don't think by now that Trump is serious, you're not talking about the same guy.

I was referring to Cruz.

the world is listening, waiting, many with intense focus, for *anyone else* to say something of substance, to speak to the issues that matter, and to do so in a way that demonstrates they are part of the solution rather than the problem, and actually resonate with many on our side.

I hear rumbles once in a while, faint whispers of truth and sense and understanding of what we care about, glimmers of hope, but that's about it, and Trump isn't suppressing such things either, directly or indirectly - he's essentially hosting an Open Mic Night - daring anyone else to step up.

But they haven't, and that's on them.

I suspect Trump himself, ego and all, would prefer someone else step up.

But where are they? What's stopping them? What are they waiting for? Seems to me, they're in denial, and what they really want and hope for is that Trump will just fade out or mess up, then they don't have to change anything, and can go back to the same old same old (bullshit).

46and2,

I don't know man. I found myself wondering today what exactly is motivating Trump to run for president. He has enough money to live happily for the rest of his life. Maybe he wants more power? Maybe he wants to cement his place in the history books? Maybe he is truly pissed and wants to unfuck this country? I don't think he wants to push important issues to the forefront and disappear, that is just not his style. Whatever is motivating him I am glad he is bringing up issues most politicans are scared shitless to discuss.

Trump seems to transcend party lines in a way I have never seen before. Love him or hate him he is a damn interesting man and I'm loving the show!

It is refreshing as hell to see someone FINALLY throw it back to the worthless shitfisters in the media!

justjoe,

Stop apologizing. You like the guy.

You have misread my posts about Trump if you think that I like him. But, really, what does "like" have to do with it? Suppose I need brain surgery, and I like one surgeon-- a really nice guy-- with mediocre skills. Another brain surgeon is a real asshole-- arrogant, rude-- but his abilities, his skills, are outstanding. See the point?

Watch Trump slam-dunk the politically correct "anchor babies" right down that asshole reporter's throat. Tell me we don't need this man, Trump. Every day since he entered the race has been... a breath of fresh air. Some days it seems like nothing less than the breath of life.

We are in dire straights as a nation. The people who got us there are corrupt, nasty, miscreants. You know what they deserve?

They deserve Trump.

I was referring to Cruz.

According to a very recent poll, Cruz is trailing Trump as a front runner in his own home state of Texas. And Gov. Perry is considered a "non-factor", perhaps because of his attacks on Trump, and his position on illegal immigration. Link

yeah, stick, it's definitely hard to pin down his motives.

it *seems* as though it started as Trump being Trump, speaking his mind, garnering attention, perhaps somewhat guided by a notion of helping steer the conversation, but as it's picked up steam, whether on purpose or otherwise, he continues to resonate more and thus also continues to distinguish himself from the other candidates. they're helping him by way of their incompetence, in their mediocrity, in their establishment leanings, in their double speak and weak or whacked out opinions, and I've no doubt he notices this, reevaluates, and adjusts. If he turns out to be a real (viable) candidate it's because of the vacuum created by the rest of the field.

because what happens if a Cruz or whomever takes note, adjusts their approach and message - and not superficially, not just to win votes, but actually learns and adapts - then there's no longer an advantage to what Trump offers. he's showing them a roadmap, the nation is responding, and the rest of the field seems to be sitting still, thumbs firmly implanted in their behinds, acting like the same old same old is still good enough - when it clearly isn't, so he keeps rolling on...

crazy times.

I think his motives are pretty simple, he likes this stuff. You don't get to a position like Trump's without enjoying being a killer.

I'm glad he's on our team.

Yes. We're not voting to see whether he's gonna be someone we'd like go fishing and hang out with. We're deciding whether he might be our choice for President. Or a Dentist. Or a Mechanic. The right person for the job. So, yeah I think you "like" him. And I "like" him. At least for me it's time stop mincing my words or get all mealy mouthed and just throw my support for the man this country needs. Trump.

I'd say yes to all of those, but people also need to stop focusing on revenge. That's what the left does and it's how they control and blind their base. Trump is serving a purpose in this race, but when you take emotion out of it he doesn't compare to Cruz. I'm not saying to stop enjoying the show because it's great, but don't get carried away.

I'm seriously considering Trump. Honestly, and why. Because I voted for Romney and he lost, we ended up with all this BS like Obamacare from Obama. I voted in the last election (mid term) all republican, so we now have a Republican controlled house and senate. What have they gotten done, NOTHING. On top of that, Obama is still passing BS executive orders and stuff that is not even constitutional. What are the current republicans doing? That's what really ticks me off. I really think a lot of them are being blackmailed, or something. Trump OTOH, doesn't have to answer to anyone, and a lot of points he brings up like the border, are right and NEED to be addressed, but nobody in our current establishment has the cahonas to do anything. I honestly think Trump does have the cahonas to get things done. Walker does too, just like he went against the unions and won in a blue state.

It will be interesting to see Trumps approval numbers when the field gets narrowed down. I'm concerned that if it's just Trump & somebody like Bush at the end, Bush (or whoever) may pull the numbers to win.

I'm less concerned with that the last few weeks as Trumps numbers stay on the rise. If he keeps gathering momentum, this maybe a blowout.

One thing's for sure...they would clean effing house in Washington. The GDC's would be running for the hills.

I say give Trump/Cruz at least one term (or perhaps the full two), then let Cruz take the reigns. We'll get this country back on top and kicking ass again yet!

I predict Jeb!s numbers diving even more.....

"Thursday, Republican presidential candidate former Gov. Jeb Bush (R-FL) said,”I think that people born in this country ought to be American citizens.”

Bush said, “This whole immigration debate is hurtful for a lot of people. I’m not talking about my family here I’m talking about in general when you just choose this tidal wave of accusations or bombastic talk. There are a lot of people who share the immigrant experience. When they hear this what they hear is you don’t think I’m part of this, you don’t think I’m part of this country. I know that for a fact because I have hundreds of people that tell me that. I think we need to tone down the rhetoric a little bit, talk about solution, and get on with fixing things in this country, and turn this into a driver for success for our country rather than this defeatist attitude that we now have.”
