I hope this thread stays open. It is a great piece of political and cultural history. The way it slowly morphs from Para's opening "He is a first rate ass-clown, but at least he is giving both barrels..." to the total support of Trump by so many, parallels what happened nationally. All the objections to Trump, and the counter-arguments, happened on a bigger scale all around us.

The revulsion with establishment politicians is a historic phenomenon in its depth and breadth. Trump directly spoke to that revulsion, and politics in America changed forever. This 400+ thread documents it all.

Locked? IMO, it should be alive through the election, and then archived.

There are a couple of people on this forum that have openly been that way. One pops into each and every thread he can and posts that kind of nonsense, all the while claiming that he is doing it for his "principles". You want to look at him and say "dude, what do you 'principles' think about Hillary as the next pResident, and the one that nominates the next few SCOTUS members?". A write in, third party, whatever IS A VOTE FOR HILLARY. Seems pretty easy for anyone with a functional brain stem to be able to figure out. But, it alludes some people claiming to be gun owners for some reason.

The problem with the fanatical right is that they BELIEVE people like Levin and Beck. Both of which are either certifiable loons, or they are on the take for Cruz as a paid asset, one or the other. I listen to Beck on occasion for entertainment. He CAN NOT go more than a few minutes without bashing Trump, and everything he covers comes back to a negative jab at Trump.

Last month, I listened to his show for a week straight, for the first part of the first hour. The longest he could go from the start of the program to mentioning the word "Trump" was about 90 seconds. If Cruz spent money with Beck, he definitely got his monies worth.

Its a business for Beck and Levin. If they dont have something to scream and fast about, their show is empty.

Say what you want about Limbaugh. Hes been pretty neutral in the whole thing. Looking forward to todays show.

Obviously, any candidate needs to appeal to a swath of voters along the political spectrum that adds up to the needed number of votes. If that swath is a bit farther left this time and picks up some blue collar democrats at the expense of some fringe right conservatives, I'm really OK with that.

I read that Charles Krauthammer said he doesn't think he can vote for Trump. At first that bothered me.

But then I started thinking that this movement, almost a revolution in thought , is driven by every day people. So many of us have been driven to the breaking point. We don't want to be told what to think about politics; our own eyes see what is happening.

We have seen that our elected officials, media, and even conservative "champions" have betrayed what is best for America.

It may turn out that the more the traditional spokespeople can't accept Trump, the more the voters become determined to elect him.

It is much bigger than Trump. We know the "king has no clothes".

The elites of this country have taken us down a path that defies common sense and is proving to be a serious and immediate threat to the way of life that many of us cherish.

Doesn't surprise me a bit. These pundits may act like they come down on a particular side (and some actually believe it), but ultimately they love the game that they are a part of. Trump upsets the rules of that game and threatens the status quo.

Actually it's starting to make more sense. It's a chance to reduce or eliminate the national debt. Charge $5 to walk by her cell and taunt her or $10 and you get to chuck a tomato.

Krautheimer and the establishment were out there complaining about and preaching to real conservatives who were peeved about Romney. Now the shoe's on the other foot, and of course their principles are too lofty to compromise and vote for Trump.
