WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump's campaign manager was arrested in Florida on Tuesday and charged with battery, police records show.

The report from the Jupiter Police Department said Corey Lewandowski, 42, was charged for intentionally grabbing and bruising the arm of Michelle Fields, a reporter at the time for the conservative news outlet Breitbart, against her will at a Trump campaign event on March 8.

"Mr. Lewandowski is absolutely innocent of this charge," Trump's campaign said in a statement. "He will enter a plea of not guilty and looks forward to his day in court. He is completely confident that he will be exonerated."

Simultaneously, the police department released a video showing the incident between Fields and Lewandowski. Unlike previous videos released by news networks which were at the news conference, the new video is not obscured by people.

The video shows Fields walking alongside Trump and then Lewandowski grabbing her arm and pulling her backward.

Trump's rallies across the United States have been marked by rowdiness and physical contact between protesters and either his supporters or security personnel.

Lewandowski was charged with simple battery, defined under Florida law as intentionally touching or striking a person against their will. For a first offense, it is a misdemeanor in the first degree, which carries a maximum sentence of one year in prison or a fine of $1,000.

But there seems to be little chance of that.
Another GOP operative who was also enlisted as a go-between to broker an alliance tells CNN the Cruz campaign had no desire to engage.

If Cruz was as dirty as some of you have suggested at times he would be all over this. It would benefit him more than Kasich because as we are seeing in Florida and Louisiana he's picking up delegates to win in the 2nd or 3rd round to prevent it from going to a brokered convention (the only situation where Kasich can win because he hasn't won 8 states). Letting things play out only gives Trump the opportunity to win it outright or come close enough he gets it anyway. I'm glad he's not part of it.

Except this latest video does show he did clearly grab her and jerk her back, and the he lied about it. Had he done that to many of the members here he'd of ended up on his ass, most likely. It's not the end of the world, but he was out of line, and apparently committed a crime.

I could care less what the official legal definition of battery is, common sense tells you the guy grabbed her arm because she was overstepping her boundary, I do not see any (in this video at least) any throwing anyone to the ground or excessive type of force that would injure someone.

No, I don't recall ever hearing that allegation, neither on the news nor from the interviews she gave shortly after the incident. It has always been an issue of being forcibly grabbed and tugged back / pushed aside, nothing more.

No, I don't recall ever hearing that allegation, neither on the news nor from the interviews she gave shortly after the incident. It has always been an issue of being forcibly grabbed and tugged back / pushed aside, nothing more.

I doubt that Lewandowski intended put her on the ground, but that's a reasonable perception if you are moving forward and someone bigger and stronger grabs you by the forearm, hard enough to leave bruises, and jerks you backwards and off balance, which clearly happened.

Bottom line is he did what she, the other witnesses, the audio and video recordings all indicate or prove he did. Initially all she was asking for was an apology, but instead she was accused of making the whole thing up. If the guy had just said "I'm sorry, I overreacted. I didn't mean to hurt you." It would mostly likely be a thing of the past, but he chose to flat-out lie about it, and Trump did nothing to deal with the facts of what happened.

I have the first two, the second picture with the shotgun I had put on a long sleeve T after the temps dropped significantly on the first weekend, needed a warm up shirt, $20.

The second was the brainchild of the folks at the Iron Horse Saloon in Ormond, the first image hit facebook the week before and they sold out the first semi truck load in the first weekend,

Sent several to a few friends in TX, KS and WI. Bought one for myself, check out the ISIS Goat Fucker flag in the lower corner LOL...

'She crossed in between agents and our protectee after being told not to,' said the agent, who was present that night in Jupiter.

The aerial footage from inside the country club ballroom, which is a series of still photographs taken at steady intervals, doesn't capture Fields making contact with Trump. But it shows him apparently pulling his arm away from her.

It's still not clear, but it doesn't look to me like she was pulled anywhere. It looks like someone grabbed her to stop her forward progress and prevent her from impeding to USSS agent following Trump.

And yes, you can still find headlines claiming she was pulled to the ground.

What a bunch of sensitive pussies, or scheming miscreants, or both.

And I don't care who it was, or who did it, I'd feel exactly the same degree of unsympathetic disgust for any "victim" of such a "crime".

If that's the standard then I could have charged dozens of people in my life, which is of course ridiculous as I was never truly attacked nor harmed by people who grabbed my arm or some other bullshit.
