Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

When you had the votes, we did things your way. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way. This lesson in political reality from Lyndon B. Johnson

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." - Justice Janice Rogers Brown

Rubio talking about Trump's hands was a calculated move, not a random taunt:

Rubio is a blithering idiot...this means he's out of ammo to use against Trump.

Trump keeps saying no one has ever said this about his hands. Bullshit. It was in a freaking magazine. He knows full well what was said in the past and why Rubio's taunting him with it. Yet, he can't help responding and lying as part of the response.

I think it matters for two reasons:

- Trump should ignore Rubio's nonsense, but he can't help himself because his ego gets in the way. This goes to temperament. We should care about temperament in a president.

- Trump calls everyone else a liar. He lies all the time. This goes to his credibility. We should want a president who has at least a modicum of credibility.

Are we talking temperament, or poise? Those are two different things, and what you seem to suggest as the correct response speaks to what I would call poise. A good thing in a candidate, no doubt, no question. Temperament is another animal. I don't want a president who won't respond to stupid personal attacks. He can have the poise necessary to ignore horseshit, but I fail to really see how this hand size thing is a sticking point.

I expect that all my elected leaders lie to me about everything all the time. *shrug*

Not the way it should be, but it's the establishment. Trump's a different brand of liar, so it seems the entire establishment is after him. I'd rather vote for a lying businessman than a lying politician at this point.

Sorry, deleted to edit. Wasn't intending to play game. Whatever you posted, I never saw anyway. Smile

Temperament vs. poise, hair splitting semantics. Either way, he's easily baited and that's part of his personality.

Lying all the time, fine, they do. But when you set yourself up as the arbiter of who's lying and you yourself lie constantly...that goes to temperament, too, IMO. He really has embraced the there's-a-sucker-born-every-minute theory of humanity.

Not really, but if it's all the same to you, then I guess that says something. He's got the entire system sweating and shitting themselves, but he's easily baited, so I guess he comes up short.

I'd heard John Oliver had started that small hands thing. Along with the Drumph thing. Didn't know it went so far back. In reviewing it, I see Oliver brings it in @ 6:11 and attributing it. Olivers version below. Don't know why British folks don't like him. I don't understand the finger thing, they look normal to me.

I've had a Donald Trump "You're Fired" ceramic bobblehead on my desk now for many years. I've pressed the button so many times (in jest with my employees) that's the battery died. My brother bought it for me in Trump Tower, where he bumped into the man himself. We both use to watch the Apprentice and loved that show, Trump especially. But I confess that I've had reservations with Trump ignoring the US constitution. Most recently hearing him say to Chris Wallace during the last election debate that he would go further than waterboarding and kill terrorists familys (says the same thing in @ 17:11 in the vid). As a former military guy myself, with both my father and Grandfather serving in the last 2 world wars as well, I hope to God none of our current boys would break the law and ignore the constitution and perform an ugly war crime just because the next President told them to do so. I don't care if it's Obama or Trump doing the telling. IT'S. NOT . RIGHT.

And a place where they enjoy all the benefits of being a state, without being a state. Become the 51st state, or go the heck away.

Great, he has the support of people who can't legally vote in an election. Sounds like he has a future as a Democrat.

John Oliver is trying so hard to destroy Trump and in exactly the same smartass tone as Jon Stewart. So clever, so superior. And you know the real joke? He'll be supporting Hillary or Bernie.
