And this extremely simple concept is lost on many folks. It is mathematics, really. I really like Cruz, but I'm by fault a pragmatist, not a dreamer. Like stickman posted, I'd gladly vote for either. But to ignore the fact that Trump is the one single superpower dominant force in the entire presidential election is dumb. But I forgot; he's gonna implode any day now, he's gonna pull out because he doesn't want to be president, and he's going to lose to Cruz anyways. And he's the second coming of Barry Roll Eyes

I hope that will be the end of Rubio's chances. Trump and Cruz will certainly use that against him if he can't even win his own state.

“Media needs to chill,” Rubio strategist Todd Harris reacted on Twitter. “The Florida Quinnipac poll numbers are way wrong. We are going to win Florida. Period. Take it to the bank.”

In spite of the Rubio campaign protests, Trump has consistently polled ahead in Florida.

That kind of arrogance is suicide. Rubio is on life support...It's just a matter of how much Donor money they hemorrhage before they pull the plug.

DALLAS - Six days before Super Tuesday, Ted Cruz and Donald Trump are now tied in Texas, according to a new public opinion poll commissioned by WFAA-TV.

Cruz and Trump both had 32 percent support from likely and actual GOP primary voters, with a 3.9 percent margin of error.

It is the most recent survey of Texas voters and the first one to show Cruz no longer leading in his home state.

I wonder how many times a candidate has lost their home state and was still elected President (or even the nominee).

I'll vote for Trump or Cruz over Hillary, but why are so many convinced that Trump has such a better chance of beating her in the general than Cruz? I've seen several Trump AND Cruz supporters say it as though it's a foregone conclusion. I'm not arguing against it, just looking for the rationale behind it.

I seem to be encountering an alarming number of otherwise Republican voters who have gone bat-shit-crazy and are acting like they are at least considering Hillary over Trump if that's the match-up. It's anecdotal, but it scares me and makes me wonder if Trump really has any chance at all in the general. The only thing I know for sure is that some "centrist" or "moderate" Republican can't win.

because Trump has cross-over appeal, especially among southern democrats. Cruz has zero cross-over appeal.

Just one small data point, but it is a real data point:

Nevada Caucus:

Trump 34,531 votes

Clinton 6,300 votes

in 2012, Obama won Nevada by 7%.

Based on the primaries so far, Republican voters have much more enthusiasm than Democrats

You might be right, but isn't the cross-over appeal argument the same thing people said when they nominated those "moderate" Republicans in the past couple of elections? I have lived in the south my whole life and I don't know any so-called "Southern Democrats" that aren't just GDCs who will vote for Hillary. The old Dixiecrats have either wised up or died off at this point. And we're really just talking about Florida and Virginia anyway, right? I mean, Hillary ain't winning any other southern states no matter who she's up against. So, the argument is that Trump has enough cross-over appeal among on the fence voters in FL and VA to carry those states?

In Nevada Trump got a higher percentage of both the women's votes and the Hispanic vote than Cruz and Rubio combined.

I've said it before, and still believe that if he is the nominee, Trump will get a higher percentage of the Black vote than any Republican candidate in history. He doesn't have to get a majority, but if he gets 15-20% NO democrat can win.
