Glenn Beck is a seriously sick man, mentally. I'm not saying that just as a put down, it's what I really think. One of these days he will be found out on Times Square wearing nothing but a big overcoat and offering people meatballs out of the pockets.

Speaking of taking something out of context.

This video points to one problem with the National Review advocacy piece. Glenn Beck leading the charge on who qualifies as a conservative is misguided in light of Beck saying that Hillary or Obama would have been better than McCain. Unfathomable. Who is Beck to say who is preferable now? Beck seems to have no bona fides as a true conservative who cares about what the country has suffered - or will.

I have read this thread from the beginning for months and months. Trump's approach has always seemed to identify things that are going awry while promising to fix them. For that, he has not struck me as an ideologue but as a person seeking a like-minded, non-segregated following on topics. Trump does not seem to be driven by a particular ideology as much as a concern for certain big ideas/issues.

The most doctrine-oriented conservatives are just one group of many that Trump seems to hope will join the fight for change. Even Phyllis Schlafly, a true conservative matriarch, stated yesterday that the National Review does not speak the only voice of true conservatives. The fact that Beck is, in essence, being included now as one of the National Review's "priests" of conservative orthodoxy denigrates the statement of so many other good thinkers and writers.

It has been a long time since we had a "tell it like it is" person seeking office. Trump has re-framed the politics of being ground down by what has turned into a wacky percentage of the population into speaking unapologetically for the lion's share.

What did he say before and after that? What's the context?

The bigger quote was when Trump said, "And you know what? There’s a point at which let’s get to be a little establishment. We gotta get things done folks, okay? Believe me, don’t worry, we’re gonna make such great deals."

http://therightscoop.com/trump...ngton/#ixzz3yH4EKBJN

What? This after Hatch, Dole, McConnell, Graham, and McCain said they would rather have Trump because they can make deals with him? Yet, his supporters will say nothing to see here...

Interesting choice, but then we'll have at least 3 North Easterners running for P/VP. Seems he might do better finding someone from the South or Midwest to help balance the ticket.

Outgoing Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown has become the first GOP senator to endorse a renewed assault weapons ban.

“What happened in Newtown where those children were subject to that level of violence is beyond my comprehension,” Brown told the Springfield Republican on Wednesday. “As a state legislator in Massachusetts I supported an assault weapons ban thinking other states would follow suit. But unfortunately, they have not and innocent people are being killed. As a result, I support a federal assault weapons ban, perhaps like the legislation we have in Massachusetts.”

See, this is one of my problems with Trump. He wants us to believe he's with us and has changed, but then he floats someone who's against our beliefs as VP.

While he’s not making an official endorsement for the presidency in 2016’s GOP primary, at least not yet, Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL)
is calling on the people of Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina to very carefully pick a candidate they think can “negotiate better” when it comes to trade deals.

He laid out the case for why Republicans must nominate a candidate who opposes the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) and the accompanying two global trade deals that would come with it: The Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (T-TIP) and the Trade in Services Agreement (TiSA).

All three deals, along with the fast-track Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) that greases the skids for the eventual easy passage through Congress of each of the deals since TPA lowers the Senate’s 60-vote threshold to just 51 votes and kills the ability for amendments, have become collectively known as “Obamatrade.”

Stephen Miller, a trusted aide to Sen. Jeff Sessions of Alabama, will join Donald Trump’s presidential campaign on Wednesday, serving as a senior policy adviser to the Republican front-runner.

Keep your eye on the goal!

As long as its not a democrat or a Rhino, that's what Trump has done. Without him they would have killed off Cruz and anointed Jeb by now.

I will gladly pick Trump, Cruz or Paul.

If Trump goes down in flames he has still raised the issues and given Cruz a chance.

How Trump Happened

http://graphics.wsj.com/electi.../how-trump-happened/

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

Selecting Brown takes some of the "edge" off his own candidacy. VP picks are usually counter programming to spread a wide net as possible for the general election. A gamble worth taking in order to win.

And who hasn't been terribly successful as a candidate or a Senator, either, except insofar as he's run as an outright RINO. Why would we want someone who's already had his ass beaten red by Hillary (effortlessly, I might add) anyway?
