If true, that's premature isn't it. Don't you want to see what the FBI may have in the way of evidence particularly on the Clinton Foundation investigation first? Or, wouldn't you want to force Obama's hand into actually pardoning the Clintons before leaving office to add a final disgrace to his legacy, throw the Democrats into further disarray equating the Clintons with Nixon historically, and ease the headwinds for your agenda in the first 100 days?

The only way that flies with me is if he starts pardoning folks (and he'd have to form a committee to identify all of them) who have committed lesser violations of our various secrecy statutes.

Donald Trump cancels meeting with New York Times

President-elect Donald Trump canceled a planned meeting Tuesday with The New York Times, saying it was “not nice” of the newspaper to change the “terms and conditions” of the meeting at the last minute.

“I cancelled today’s meeting with the failing @nytimes when the terms and conditions of the meeting were changed at the last moment. Not nice,” Mr. Trump tweeted Tuesday.

“Perhaps a new meeting will be set up with the @nytimes. In the meantime they continue to cover me inaccurately and with a nasty tone!” the president-elect also tweeted.

The paper, meanwhile, says it was unaware the meeting was canceled until they saw the president-elect announce the news via Twitter Tuesday morning, and that it did not change the ground rules or try to do so.

The paper said it had demanded an on-the-record portion with Mr. Trump in addition to an off-the-record one and that Mr. Trump’s team had pushed for only a private meeting.

Mr. Trump held an off-the-record meeting with television news executives and anchors in New York on Monday.

"Demanded?"

Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

When you had the votes, we did things your way. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way. This lesson in political reality from Lyndon B. Johnson

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." - Justice Janice Rogers Brown

Two points:

1. Acceptance of the pardon implies there is guilt otherwise there's no need for it. Many time Hillary said there's no case and she was confident she's done nothing criminally wrong. She won't accept it if offered. Others might still be investigated but not Hillary per se but by implication she will be.

2. Congress will still investigate to learn how this happened and what safeguards were violated. A decision by president has no direct bearing on congress.

The Hamilton actors who insulted Pence have a poor voting record.

Javier Munoz, who plays Hamilton, hasn't voted since the 2006 midterm elections.

Records for Dixon (who delivered the prepared speech written by Lin-Manuel Miranda) show he didn't vote in 2012.

There are no records available for this year, so it's unclear if the cast members voted in 2016

Dixon couldn't even give his own speech. He had to read what Miranda wrote.

This is excellent. A couple of years ago, I began to explain Keynesianism to young liberals not simply as centralized control, but as an oligarchy. When they begin to understand in this fashion, the light starts to come on more often- at least that is how it seems. This article and the manner in which the dems sought to coronate Clinton should make this even more clear.

To say that he, Trump, would not recommend that his AG go after Clinton was exactly the right thing to do. It should not seem personal, like some left over animosity from the campaign. Let the FBI conduct their investigation, as they are doing. (And let's see what happens to the FBI when they are not under a corrupt DOJ.)

Yup, it's best for Trump not to get mired in this. Let congress and the FBI do as they will. Trump has much bigger fish to fry now.

That is a good read,I get all gigley just reading it ,the firing the incompetent would be fantastic.

I just remembered this morning the harassing phone calls from the census bureau wanting me to take a survey for college graduates. I ignored them for almost a year but they wouldn't give up. So I gave in. Anyway, part way thru the phone interview I told the lady I graduated almost 30 years ago and couldn't remember some info she was asking for. She chuckled and said "kind of silly, huh'.

Heard a little of Laura Ingraham on the radio talking about the meeting Trump held with the nitworks and some of the talking (air)heads. The (air)heads went to the Washington Post and told them that Trump dressed them down in the meeting. Laura's question was "You don't think that's the ONLY thing that happened in an hour long meeting do you?" I think what Trump did was bring them in and speak to them on a range of issues, and he tossed that in to read their reaction. As others have said, he's a quick read and my guess is he tossed that in there to see how they responded. Now he knows who has had a change of heart, and who has become more entrenched in their GDC slanted coverage.

+1
If the President directs what the DOJ and FBI will do, doesn't that perpetuate a corrupted political administration of justice? We have had too many years of that with the Democrats.

Conway said that Trump did not "wish" to pursue Hillary and Trump on 60 minutes said that he did not want to "harm" the Clintons.

If Congress or the various independent investigators in the regular course of things find facts for prosecution, then that is not something Trump should control. Justice should proceed independently and fairly for all Americans. Sure, the AG is the president's lawyer but there is a social aspect to how citizens perceive whether the AG and DOJ function for us all.

If we want to restore confidence in justice and the rule of law, each entity/person must stay in his/her/its own lane. Having the president pick who he does or does not want the FBI or DOJ to pursue is not compatible with the independent administration of justice.

President-elect Trump has bigger fish to fry right now. Conway emphasized that fact in her announcement today.

Also, what if Trump found out Hillary had only a year to live? Or, that investigation would cause more national security harm? What if he had a higher level briefing on what was found and concluded that not wasting his capital on it was a comparatively better course? There are so many things that could be informing a President-elect's decision compared to someone who was at the candidate stage.
