Trump lost Colorado so there are no electors to be had for the President Elect. If I understand it correctly, the idea is that he knows they won't switch to vote for Hillz, but suggests Kasich as a reasonable alternative. All this faithless elector nonsense is making me nervous. NRA Basic Pistol Instructor NRA Range Safety Officer

I do not believe that any of us could fully comprehend the absolute hurricane of fury that the American electorate would unleash in the wake of such suicidal foolishness. Think of being one of those 300 or so EC voters who might do such a thing. The ire, the absolute demoniacal whirlwind of anger would sweep these people up so that their life would never again be the same. Think of being suddenly the focus of the rage of 60 million voters. They would want to know your name, where you live, your employer, the names of your family members, and anything else that would aid them in their quest to destroy you as you destroyed this nation.

Thank you. I have to stop reading the bullshit. Everything seems possible after this election. I watch this unprecedented reaction from safety-pin-wearing children and think "could that actually happen?" with the electors? Rest easy. Youre being sucked into the media BS. Look at it this way... The election is over. The "cage match fight to the death" is over. It MUST be replaced by yet another mindless torrent of hyperbole. First it was the "riots". That ran its usefulness. Did ANYTHING really happen there? Nope. Now were on to the "Electoral Crisis" and the "Trump Transition Disarray". A pox on them all. Relax. -------------------------------------- "There are things we know. There are things we dont know. And I believe there's a provision for Congress to refuse to accept the votes of the electors and require the state to appoint a new one if they do act as faithless electors.

Thought this was great: The Exhausted Epithets of the Left They didn’t work against Trump and won’t work against his aides. Barack Obama’s signature phrase, “the audacity of hope,” came from a black nationalist, Jeremiah Wright. Obama stocked his administration with black nationalists, delivered speeches to openly separatist black colleges and associations, rolled out the red carpet for Al Sharpton, encouraged the reverse racism of “Black Lives Matter,” and rationalized the behavior of athletes who protested the American flag. None of this qualified as “ethno-nationalism” in the eyes of the media. They reserve that smear for conservatives who oppose hyphenated Americanism. Those who talk about race the least get hit with the charge of racism the most. We’re told that Trump is surrounding himself with “bomb-throwers.” Like who? Bill Ayers? In Obama’s case, the charge was literal. He blurbed the book of a domestic terrorist and launched his political career in his living room. In Trump’s case, the charge is figurative, but the Left expects Americans to tremble even more. Wright, at the height of his black nationalism, baptized Obama and officiated at his wedding. Obama sat in his pews as he defamed America. Yet a media that managed to ignore all of this endeavored to make Trump look like a regular attendee at Klan meetings. One would have thought from the frenzied coverage that David Duke had officiated at Trump’s wedding. In fact, Trump had no association with racists and earned the exhausted epithets of the Left for nothing more than opposing its open-borders ideology. Now, having failed to stop Trump, the Left turns to a new smear campaign against his aides. In the wake of Hillary’s defeat, a few liberals questioned the tactic of describing half the country as “deplorables” and treating any disagreement with liberal ideology as evidence of “racism.” But those doubts didn’t last long. Trump’s selection of Stephen Bannon as his chief White House strategist and senior counselor has liberals gasping anew. They point to him as a singularly sinister “white nationalist,” whose Breitbart News Network reeks of racism. But in their hastily assembled “five worst things he has said” lists, one doesn’t find any racism. All one finds is robust disagreement with the assumptions of liberalism. So what? The reeds on which they hang their charge of racism grow thinner and thinner. In the absence of any damning quotes from Bannon, they had to cast about for supposedly shocking headlines from Breitbart, such as “Hoist It High and Proud: The Confederate Flag Proclaims a Glorious Heritage.” But if you click on that article, it goes to a column in which the author rejects racism and celebrates the military valor of Robert E. Lee. That is the heritage to which the article refers. In the absence of any racist headlines, they sought to prove Bannon’s “racism” by checking “the reader comments” on Breitbart. The editorialists at the New York Times suggested that ludicrous standard. And if that high evidentiary bar for racism doesn’t impress you, the Times had another one: what random racists, whom Bannon doesn’t know and whose praise he didn’t solicit, have said about him: Or take a look at who’s rejoicing over Mr. Bannon’s selection. The white nationalist Richard Spencer said on Twitter that Mr. Bannon was in “the best possible position” to influence policy, since he would “not get lost in the weeds” of establishment Washington. The chairman of the American Nazi Party said the pick showed that Mr. Trump might be “for ‘real.’” David Duke, former imperial wizard of the Ku Klux Klan, called the choice “excellent” and said Mr. Bannon was “basically creating the ideological aspects of where we’re going.” At the same time, the Times tells us that Bannon is a “perplexing figure,” which is apparently its euphemism for saying: This person we have just been calling a racist is really just a conservative American with whom we disagree on bitterly contested political matters. The “perplexing” Bannon, it informs us, is a “far-right ideologue who made his millions investing in ‘Seinfeld.’” Why that is a baffling contradiction isn’t explained. Nor do they explain what makes him “far-right,” given that he just ran a winning campaign. CNN, pushing the same propaganda, ran a news scrawl that said Trump had made a “fringe” figure his chief strategist. Even in defeat, the Left feels entitled to tell Americans who is and who is not on the “fringe.” The American people can be excused for seeing all of this as a show about nothing. The Left’s trivialization of the charge of racism only made it easier for Trump to win. Previous GOP candidates lived in dread fear of the media’s PC mau-mauing. Trump didn’t and ended up getting a higher percentage of the Black and Hispanic vote than Romney. While Hillary wrote off half the country as a basket of deplorables, Trump turned up in inner cities. Obama and other Hillary surrogates mocked him for his “Make America Great Again” slogan, but next to the “God damn America”-style multiculturalism of the Left, Trump’s simple nationalism looked less scary than sane. https://spectator.org/the-exha...pithets-of-the-left/ _____________ "I enter a swamp as a sacred place—a sanctum sanctorum. A nicely written article from a blogger named Daniel Greenfield (the Sultan Knish), titled The Obama Era is Over - Obama and his supporters loved talking about history. His victory was historic. They were on the right side of history. History was an inevitable arc that bent their way. The tidal force of demographics had made the old America irrelevant. Any progressive policy agenda was now possible because we were no longer America. We Were Obamerica. A hip, happening place full of smiling gay couples, Muslim women in hijabs and transgender actors. We were all going to live in a New York City coffee house and work at Green Jobs and live in the post-national future. The past was gone. We were falling into the gorgeous wonderful future of dot com instant deliveries and outsourced everything. We would become more tolerant and guilty. The future was Amazon and Disney. It was hot and cold running social justice. The Bill of Rights was done. Ending the First and Second Amendments was just a clever campaign away. Narratives on news sites drove everything. Presidents were elected by Saturday Night Live skits. John Oliver, John Stewart, Stephen Colbert and Samantha Bee were our journalists. Safe spaces were everywhere and you better watch your microaggressions, buddy. No more coal would be mined. No more anything would be made. The end of men was here. The end of the dead white men of the literary canon. The end of white people. The end of binary gender and marriage. The end of reason. The end of art. The end of 2 + 2 equaling 4. This was Common Core time. It was time to pardon an endless line of drug dealers. To kill cops and praise criminals. To be forced to buy worthless health insurance for wealth redistribution to those who voted their way to wealth. This was Obama's America. And there was no going back. We were rushing through endless goal posts of social transformation. The military fell. Then the police. Now it looks as quaint as anything from the 50s, the 70s or the 80s. A brief moment of foolishness that already appears odd and awkward. And then one day nostalgic. It wasn't the future. It's already the past. It's history. Scalia died. Hillary Clinton was bound to win. And she would define the Supreme Court. Downticket races would give her a friendly Senate. And then perhaps the House. But there is no right side of history. There is only the side we choose. The Obama era was permanent. It was history. Now it is history. Its shocking ascendancy has been paired with an equally shocking descent. The Obama era is done. It's gone. It's over. It was wiped from the pages of history in one night that left Congress and the White House in Republican hands. It would have been bad enough if Jeb Bush had succeeded Obama. That would have been inconvenient, but not a repudiation. Instead Obama's legacy was dashed to pieces. His frantic efforts to campaign for Hillary did no good. The public did not vocally reject him. What they did was in its own way even worse. They brushed past him. They sidelined him. They gave him passable approval ratings while dismissing his biggest accomplishments. They forgot him. They made it clear that he did not matter. And that is in its own way far more brutal and wounding. They didn't just destroy the Obama era. Instead they dismissed it as if it never existed. Obama didn't make history after all. He wasn't a teleprompter demi-god standing athwart of history. He was Carter and Ford. He was there to be forgotten. He didn't change the world. He wasn't the messiah. He was merely mortal. Just another politician who will sag and age. Who will, in the end, be photographed like Bill Clinton, lonely and lost in a world that has passed him by. The Obama era ends not with a bang, but with a whimper. With a national consensus that maybe he didn't really matter so much after all. And those to whom he mattered the most were his enemies determined to undo everything he did. Obama once thought that he belonged to the ages. Now he belongs in the rubbish bin.
