None of us here ever thought to make a large lift rocket with booster stages that could be landed back on earth.

No one here thought to develop an electric car like a Tesla.

No one here even dreamed of trying to design a solar tile that looks like a tile.

Yeah, he's a loser for thinking and trying stuff. Bad man for having the balls to even consider trying something out of the comfort zone for all us.

Fuck innovation. Just might as well stay home and eat Skittles and Pop-tarts while poo-pooing someone who doesn't think like us.

What a loser he is.

Can't believe you use a ultra liberal left wing SJW crap site like "Jalopnik" to attempt to prove some BS here. Nothing he is doing is illegal, and like it or not, he is trying (sometimes succeeding, and sometimes failing) to do things that are not easy in the slightest. You naysayr's (or at least anyone who would use a Jalopnik article to hate on successful people) sound like typical crybaby liberals who are too stupid to accomplish anything yourselves and need to make yourself feel better by tearing down someone else. Sure he might have some failures, but what in your little sour-grapes life has succeeded or had any kind of impact even a tenth as much as Musk's worst failures?

And I don't even like the guy, but I don't need to resort to using piece of shit lefty SJW Jalopnik articles to tear down the accomplishments of others who do better than most.

Perhaps you should hop over to the same-company "Jezebel" or "Kotaku" (yeah the same tab on the top of the page of that shit SJW liberal website) feminism articles to really start tearing into others with SJW type BS.

No. There are many people here who have done far more good, in my opinion. I respect what he has done at SpaceX. That has taken a lot of hard work, insight, and determination. He is contributing a lot to our space effort, and for that I am grateful.

However, there are among us here members who have valiantly and honorably served our Country in combat. There are members who have served and who are actively serving as LEOs at every level of government. There are physicians and medical researchers who serve others every day. We have inventors, artists, firemen, paramedics, the list goes on and on.

It is possible he is more famous than everyone here, though I suspect, but cannot prove, we have among us some famous people whose names we would readily recognize if we saw their real names. Celebrities, even, who enjoy being normal among us.

At least Musk is producing something. It could be worse. Look at Paul Elio and his Autocycle. Ten years and seven prototypes later and still no product built. But plenty of deposits taken.

And no, I have no horse in that race.

Another malfeasance flag, new CFO resigned very soon after hiring on which usually means he uncovered shady accounting.

Ultimately, I think Elon will wind up in club fed as he is a shitty business man. I am NOT saying he has shitty technical ideas as he has had many brilliant ideas. He is just not good at business, ethics, following the law, being humble, etc.

My implication / quote was geared directly towards the business world / financial success; but Musk is also a very big supporter of the military and other entities, although you'll never hear about it.

I am more impressed by people who do things quietly than by people who crave attention. I have no doubt the guy is brilliant. Brilliant people tend to do things differently. I give the guy credit for answering tweets from every day people. Most people in his position do not do that.

He uses government money to do things they can't seem to pull off.
Government does it (wastes) without you knowing, he does it sometimes.
May be he is a con but he is more efficient with our money than they are.
Just look at the time and money spent on the shuttle project.

Vets are great, as are service people, but to imply they've done more good than the good Mr.Musk is to be completely blind to reality.

Elon is trying, and based on what I can see(which is quite a lot as I'm hyper observant to it) succeeding in doing; is literally saving humanity.

His goal of getting to Mars and making humanity a two planet species will be the biggest leap forward since humans came down out of the trees.

How does one measure success? His companies don't make money, but he's wealthy beyond what most of us can only dream of making. I've long said Elon Musk isn't in the car-making business, he's in the electric power business. He isn't in the space business, he's in the re-usable spacecraft concept business. He isn't in the solar panel business, he's in the solar design business.

People see only as far as they want to. Is he a con man? Sure. Who isn't? But he's a con man who delivers, and doesn't just slink away in the dark with other peoples' money. I'm not sure I'd invite him over for a backyard barbecue, but I respect the fact that he marches on regardless of what people say or think.

You can't truly call yourself "peaceful" unless you are capable of great violence. If you're not capable of great violence, you're not peaceful, you're harmless.

Then send me your tax returns and I can interpolate the rest. Razz
