Mike Johnson needs to go but he cannot go right now. First things first. I don't care what is the motivation of the Republicans who voted against him, because it doesn't matter. They need to get their head out of their ass.

most likely postering, trying to get some appointments for the outliers voting no to some committee.

press makes more of it than it is but Johnson and his team could have made deals in the past weeks before the vote and quashed any of this, so it's a bit of both egos.

Johnson knows they can't have shit show with the inauguration coming up fast, other's know that too, it's about who bends...

In his nomination speech of Jeffries, Aguilar spewing BS about (D) party fighting inflation and other nonsense. Weren’t they the ones that rammed those 2 boondoggle hills that caused the current inflation? F them all.

Johnson better learn where his bread is buttered ASAP and push the maga policies that the party wants.

For a while there, I thought those assholes were going to loose the speakership. How fucking ironic, having won house majority only to hand it back to the Demorats. These bastards were playing with fire. We would never get a bill through for the next several years. Morons!

It’s apparent after today’s clown show that the RINO bastards still haven’t figured it out.

We voted for MAGA and not for them. They better get their shit together because most people are not going to put up with their posturing and business as usual.

Going back to 1938, only twice did the party in the Whitehouse gain seats in the house in the midterms.

Would be nice if we could make this happen for the third time in 2026. Lord knows we are due. It is my hope the R party learns to stick together from the D’s, supports DJT’s agenda and look beyond their personal desires to focus on what is good for the nation.

If those currently in office don’t want to be a part of the team, primary their asses and find someone who does.

They're not RINOs, but they do have to learn to play for the team...at least for now. There was a very real risk Jeffries could have been elected speaker. The people want MAGA, give them MAGA!

That's a problem having a thin majority: Johnson's job isn't advancing MAGA, Johnson's job is herding cats. As Speaker, he has to massage egos, recognize that some of that thin majority face real Democratic challengers in their home districts next election, allow for those votes that make hometown voters happy but don't necessarily align with the President's goals, and get as much of the President's agenda across the line as possible while keeping those endangered House seats red so we don't end up with "divided governance" in two years.

I don't like it, and I wish it wasn't so. I wish there were a solid majority in both chambers so the Murkowskis and Collinses of the world couldn't hold bills or nominations hostage in the Senate, or that there weren't as many I-ran-as-R-but-am-now-showing-how-fiercely-Independent-I-am idiots in the House. For all the hate on Johnson-- and I am no fan of his, for the record-- it doesn't take into account some of the realities.

The Democrats had control of the Senate last year. Mike Johnson did what he had to do to get a budget thru the Senate. Prolonged government shutdowns during the Presidential election cycle could have been disastrous for Trump.

With a solid majority in the Senate thos year, Mike Johnson has a little more room to work.

Newt Gingrich was on Fox last night emphasizing the absoluetly critical nature of getting Trumps agenda passed quickly. All the things that Trump wants done require some time to affect the economy - and midterms are only 2 yrs away. Rino's take note...get on board Now

Well, it looks like Mexico President Claudia Sheinbaum has "changed her mind" and is now willing to accept illegals from other countries into Mexico when they get deported by Trump.

I would love to know how that 'deal' came about.
Trump must have suggested something that would be pretty bad for Mexico in some way.
All the things like this happening and he hasn't even taken office yet!

Is there going to be live coverage on Monday when Kamalamadingdong becomes the first sitting vice president to oversee the counting of her own electoral loss since Al Gore in 2001?

I’d kinda like to see it, maybe even have Steve Inman do a voice over commentary as she does it Big Grin

I’m thinking 2001.

The voting was in 2000, but that counting was in January, 2001.

I saw this mentioned in another thread -

Is it remotely possible for Biden to use pardon powers to grant blanket amnesty to illegal immigrants?
