Matt Gaetz: What Actually Happened
Prepare to have your mind warped...

Perhaps President Trump’s most impressive cabinet appointment to date was Matt Gaetz, who was destined to become the next Attorney General; that is, prior to the Democrat’s smear campaign…

Gaetz recently stepped aside ahead of an increasingly controversial kangaroo court-like confirmation hearing.

The real reason for that dirty “investigation” of Gaetz, despite his unassailable innocence, was due to the Intelligence Industrial Complex — the current 4th branch of government that rules the other three branches — being utterly terrified of him.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

Did Matt Gaetz actually resign?

an odd discussion arose yesterday: maybe Gaetz never actually quit. Gaetz’s resignation letter did effect his immediate resignation from the current 118th Congress. But Gaetz was also just elected to the 119th Congress. Folks are focusing on his letter, in which Gaetz stated, “I do not intend to take the oath of office for the same office in the 119th Congress.” Yesterday, commenters wondered whether Gaetz’s lack of intention to take the oath is binding. Could he yet change his intention? Could Matt just show up, and take the oath anyway?

In other words, saying one doesn’t intend to do something is not quite as definitive as saying one will not do something. In fact, behind the words “I don’t intend” lies a parenthetical “(but I just might).” I would never accept, for example, a contract saying the other party intended to pay my client for their business. You never know what might happen.

Reading elsewhere, it seems the language used to resign from the current House is etched in stone, but not his statement on the 119th Congress, which starts in the middle of this January. He could very well take the oath then and resume his place in the House. IMO, he is needed there, and I don't see much of a chance of DeSantis appointing him to the senate seat vacated by Rubio. Through the grapevine, his short list of appointees include his campaign manager James Uthmeier, Lt Governor Jeanette Nunez, and yes, his wife Casey.

Really too bad with Gaetz, IMO he would have been great in the AG job.

Good news!

Top Trump aide shoots down Mike Rogers FBI rumors: 'Not happening'

https://justthenews.com/politi..._campaign=newsletter

Senior advisor to the Trump campaign and incoming White House deputy chief of staff Dan Scavino on Friday shot down rumors that the president-elect was considering former Rep. Mike Rogers, R-Mich., to lead the FBI.

"Just spoke to President Trump regarding Mike Rogers going to the FBI. It’s not happening — In his own words, 'I have never even given it a thought.' Not happening," Scavino posted on Truth Social.

Rogers unsuccessfully ran for the Michigan Senate seat in November, losing out to Rep. Elissa Slotkin, D-Mich. He emerged as a reported favorite for the FBI director job in recent weeks, though Trump had not discussed him publicly.

Also in the running for the post is former Trump advisor Kash Patel, who has attracted support online from MAGA stalwarts. Those same figures pointed to Rogers' support for the intelligence community as evidence he would not enact the president's agenda.

Current FBI Director Christopher Wray has drawn Trump's ire repeatedly.

To update my post above, Gaetz was on Charlie Kirk's show and stated that he does not intend to return to congress, that "eight years is enough". Video at link.

In that case, here's hoping for a cabinet position that doesn't require Congress to approve.

The good times just keep rollin’:

Red State Link
quote:
Hard on the heels of the announcement of President-elect Trump's choice for Treasury Secretary, he's now revealed the new director of the U.S. Office of Management and Budget (OMB), calling the nominee "an aggressive cost cutter"...."who will help us implement our America First Agenda across all Angencies."

He wrote:

I am very pleased to nominate Russell Thurlow Vought, from the Great State of Virginia, as the Director of the United States Office of Management and Budget (OMB). He did an excellent job serving in this role in my First Term - We cut four Regulations for every new Regulation, and it was a Great Success! Russ graduated with a B.A. from Wheaton College, and received his J.D. from the Washington University School of Law. Russ has spent many years working in Public Policy in Washington, D.C., and is an aggressive cost cutter and deregulator who will help us implement our America First Agenda across all Agencies. Russ knows exactly how to dismantle the Deep State and end Weaponized Government, and he will help us return Self Governance to the People. We will restore fiscal sanity to our Nation, and unleash the American People to new levels of Prosperity and Ingenuity. I look forward to working with you again, Russ. Congratulations. Together, we will Make America Great Again!

Russ was a very successful OMB chief in Trump 1.0. He's a budget hawk and will work well with other members of Trump's immediate staff and the DOGE duo of Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy. Beyond that, Russ has spent four years on the bench thinking about how to do what didn't happen last time around—it's called Project 2025.

As a bonus, the New York Times loves him.

Mr. Vought’s role in Project 2025 was to oversee executive orders and other unilateral actions that Mr. Trump could take during his first six months in office, with the goal of tearing down and rebuilding executive branch institutions in a way that would enhance presidential power.

In an interview with The New York Times in 2023, Mr. Vought laid out an agenda of eliminating the independence of certain regulatory agencies that operate outside the direct control of the White House, such as the Federal Communications Commission and the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The independent structure of those agencies has been a central part of how Congress has set up the administrative state since the New Deal. But Mr. Vought sees the modern structure of government as a theft of the president’s rightful powers.

“What we’re trying to do is identify the pockets of independence and seize them,” Mr. Vought said at the time, adding of the Federal Reserve: “It’s very hard to square the Fed’s independence with the Constitution.”
Mr. Vought has proved more radical than others in the conservative movement in another way. In the first Trump administration, lawyers in the mold of the Federalist Society, the conservative legal group, at times acted to constrain Mr. Trump’s impulses.

But Mr. Vought is among a faction of MAGA supporters who have come to see the Federalist Society as too soft for an era in which, they believe, liberals and Democrats pose an existential threat to the nation.

“The Federalist Society doesn’t know what time it is,” Mr. Vought declared in an interview last year.
