That was the end of my doing business with them.
Couple years ago I had a problem with a local Discount Tire store.

I wrote a polite letter (yes, V-Tail can actually be polite, believe it or not) to their corporate office, informing them of what had happened.

Unbelievable response! I received a personal visit from the Southeastern U.S. regional Vice President. He went way, WAY, above and beyond what was reasonable, to make things right. He insisted on going the extra mile, many extra miles in fact, despite the fact that I told him that it was not necessary for him to do this. He insisted.

Of course, that pretty much guarantees that Discount Tire will have all of our tire business going forward.

If you want to write a polite letter, their headquarter address is:

20225 N Scottsdale Rd
Scottsdale, AZ 85255

The only reason I would go somewhere other than Discount would be to get BFGoodrich tires.

Their store on Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs had an employee who tried to pull the old switcheroo on me. He bagged a set of 4 nearly bald 16” passenger car tires and put them in the back of my truck and kept the four 16” 10 ply Michelin take-offs for himself. I had plans for the Michelins as ranch truck tires. Fortunately I peeked in one of the bags and busted his game.

My take-off Michelins had been in a stack right next to my truck in the service bay. No way it was a honest mistake.

The only thing even close to a bad experience I have had was a bad/greedy sales guy who told me he could not rotate and balance my tires because they were too worn (they were not even close). It was clear he wanted me to buy new tires. Instead of doing battle I left and went to another location where they took great care of me.

I use Discount Tire exclusively. I sent my wife in to get new tires on her car and they gave her good tires at a reasonable price. The last time she went to get tires by herself she got cheap tires at a very high price... pretty much says it all as far I am concerned.

I'm having trouble understanding your post. Do you mean when your wife went to a different store, not a Discount Tire, they took advantage of her but Discount Tire was honest? I think that is what you are trying to say but I'm not sure.

Sorry, her prior tire purchase about three years ago was not a Discount Tire. Her last purchase was at a Discount Tire and they were very honest.

They can do that. They got my Radial T/A set for my Chevy.

I’m all Discount Tire.

I have purchased several sets of tires from Discount Tire over the last 15 years. They have always had or matched the best price. They have great service. They fix flats for free and rotate for free. I am a customer for life.

I tip $20 on a tire change or balance and rotate and I make sure all the guys working on it see so they share. Always brings a smile to their face and it's a modest tip for the excellent service I receive.

Many years ago I took a six year old, 1985 Suburban in to a Discount Tire (Santee, CA) for a flat.

A tire had a flat and the tire were not bought from them. They patched the tire, at no cost even at my insistence.

That little effort on their part has so far won my loyal dedication for the nearly 20 years since.

I'm on the fence with them. Was really satisfied in the past with them but after the debacle last summer involving my daughter's car not so sure.

They kept trying to push a Indonesian no-name tire on me as she was on a budget due to being embroiled in a divorce/custody fight/trying to keep the house. And still way over what she could afford. Long story short, local Ford dealer (parts manager is a friend and old business customer) was able to get her a set of Uniroyal Tiger Paw Tourings mounted and balanced out the door for six dollars over what she budgeted.

My Wrangler is up for a set of tires by next year, I'll give him a call then also.

Odd that I come upon this thread. I need tires on my Outback and recently my son has been recommending Discount Tire, telling me how good they are.

12 years ago I bought four tires in the Mesa store for my little red car,

they sounded way stupid on the freeway and there was a slight vibrations.

after three visits to the store and a call to corporate, in Scottsdale, they put good tires on it.
I was half pissed off

I've had decent experiences with them, but the problem here is that they are so busy that anything you might need turns into a whole day ordeal.

It might take a while if you're a walk-in, but you can make an appointment on their website.

My recent story:

I bought a new truck in November 2018. A few mornings ago, my low tire sensor went off for my front passenger tire. I pulled over to inspect. A nail in the middle of the tire. I limped to the Discount Tire store near my office. They inspect my tire and pull it into a bay for a plug. About 20 minutes later they call my name.

They say the plug is installed and here is my bill: $0.00

I told the guy that he must have my old Suburban in the system. This is a new truck and obviously the tires were not purchased from Discount Tire. He said, "I know"

We just hope that when you need new tires for your truck, you will come here. Have a nice day.

I was going to go to Sams, but they claim (again) that 225/R45/18s are rare and so they never stock them, would take 3-5 days to get them. Last time I tried that, it was over a week and they never called me; I had to keep calling them. Had to have them today, so I went across the street to Discount Tire. They had them. They were more expensive, but the price delta was less than the cost of a rental car even for one day.
