It’s interesting that a couple of you guys say Discount put a “plug” in your tire to repair it. Discount has refused to rotate or balance a tire repaired with a plug because “plugs are unsafe”. They wanted me to buy a tire to replace the one that had been plugged by a shop in my home town.

The DT near my house is great. Even with the 1 issue that the manager had to take care of (they put a different time on my wifes van and when it had an issue the first guy said no dice because not it the system, the manager finally saw what happened and fixed it) they have been gangbusters. The next closest store is a different matter all together, never going there again. All the other places have been great. Houston Texas, if the heat don't kill ya, the skeeters will.

I don’t doubt these reports. I’m just reporting my experience. I’ve bought many sets of tires from Discount. Most of the time my dealings with them have been satisfactory. I guess I need to avoid the specific location I’ve had issues with.

If there is a location that is not up to their customer service standards, Discount Tire corporate needs to be informed. They will want to take care of the situation. Trust me on this. They can't fix it if they don't know that it's broken. A polite letter to corporate headquarters giving them facts -- location, date, time, name(s), problem(s) -- will get their attention. I wrote a letter on paper, in a stamped envelope. I thought it would be more effective than email. A definite cure for the problem was effected. Regional VPs are summoned to headquarters on a regular basis. Quality control starts at the top in this company and rolls downhill. I provided their mailing address in an earlier post in this thread. Contact them. You will probably be pleasantly surprised. Give it a bit of time after your letter, if it is not an emergency situation, the process might take a little time, but it will work. הרחפת שלי מלאה בצלופחים

Discount has always been good for me. They rotated tires that came on my new car for free, three or four times. The fish is mute, expressionless. The fish doesn't think because the fish knows everything.

(Yes, I know: The thread's a couple years old.) Bought my 2015 new-to-me Jeep Grand Cherokee in 2017. About a year ago one of the tires developed a slow leak. Very slow. Finally got fed up with it a couple days ago. Took the Jeep into Discount tire. Diagnosed as a leak around the valve stem. (So new wheels for the Jeep, soon.) They pulled out the old valve stem, cleaned up the hole, put a bit of sealant around the new stem and installed it. Problem seems to be solved, for now. In and out in less than an hour. Guy pulls my Jeep up front, hands me the warranty paperwork and the fob. "I gotta go back inside and pay." "There's no charge," he replied. Wow. And I didn't even buy the tires there. They were on the Jeep when I bought it. I've been getting all our tires from Discount Tire for over thirty years. This is one reason why. "America is at that awkward stage. YOu all know Discount Tire in CA and AZ (maybe a couple other states?) is, or at least was, not the same store as the Discount in other states, right? Discount Tires in CA and AZ is called America's Tire in other states. Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it. Slightly jumbled. Here in CA, I go to America's Tire. Superb service. The rest of the country calls this store Discount Tire. One in the same. The branding is all the same, the stores look the same, they're just called America's Tire here.

I was surprised to see that they are a large but privately owned company. That may be a big reason why, they aren't under the same pressures to only perform financially as most public companies are. ___________________________ Avoid buying ChiCom/CCP products whenever possible.

Many, many years ago, I needed to have some new tires mounted on some expensive true magnesium wheels. I went to Discount Tire and explained about the wheels(they were in the back of my pickup). I met the manager and he looked the wheels over and said that HE would do the mounting and balance.....HE DID! I got this young man's name and even though the Company moves him from time to time to different stores, I find him and deal only with him. He remembers me, and always tell me no problem and it is good to see me. I have no idea how many tires I have purchased from him....a bunch!!! He just keep getting moved up the ladder. I do hope I can keep dealing with him.

Yes a very old thread back from the dead.... That said we'd been a Tire Rack customer for decades. Narry an issue. But we finally got a Discount Tire store opened locally a number of months back. Their prices were the same as Tire Rack but included installation. Well that was a no brainer. Add to that ordering and scheduling online for additional discounts and then great service for the installation and I'm a convert. Have always had good experiences with them including the free fire repair whether you bought it there or not. Last set I put on my truck I finally told the guy please delete all the previous 1/2 dozen cars the last 25 years in your system under my name. The 94 VW is long dead Anyway I wanted non OEM size tires on my Tacoma. Amazon had a seller with the AT Ko2 for a stupid price. I used the price match functionality on the discount tire website. A live person emailed me a few hours later and asked for the link. I sent them the link to the price of the tire I wanted and within another hour after that he emailed me a code to take to my local shop for the same price. And this was on a Saturday. Only issue was local discount tire shop made me prepay in full and they had to special order and I went back a few days later to get installed. So wasn’t that bad and not unreasonable on their end. Then I moved across country. Wife put a nail in her tire and was leaking slowly. I take it to my new local shop and they fixed no problem

My latest love story with DT: I needed new tires (I tow a lot in the hot desert) and took the truck to DT. They priced me new odd-sized KO2s at about 1600$ installed. I told him I only had 1200$ to spend. I love my new tires! ___________________________ He looked like an accountant or a serial-killer type. Definitely one of the service industries.
