Not at all. Hes a total DNA nerd.

Collins used to be head of the NHGRI...National Human Genome Research Institute. During his tenure the human genomes was Mapped and sequenced, taking over lead on the Human Genome Project from James Watson. I think NHGRI came to be an official NIH institute under Collins.

When he ran a research lab the goal was to map and identify genes mutated in specific human diseases and his team ID's three major ones: Huntington's, Duchenne Muscular dystrophy and cystic fibrosis.

In that case, having had known folks who died from CF, and Huntington's, the good doctor can put whatever he wants on his guitar.

The lady I've seen seeing got sick on Wednesday with a cough and headache, and tested positive on Thursday. I took a test on Friday out of an abundance of caution and was positive, but asymptomatic.

So now I'm on Day 2 of a 5 day quarantine. Still no symptoms so far.

16 of 25 Belgian Antarctica base hit with COVID. All crew were vaccinated and tested before arrival.

When 2/3s of your crew in the most remote place on the planet come down with COVID, maybe it's time to reevaluate if the vaccines are doing their job.

Could you imagine the polio vaccine with the high possibility of getting a "mild" case of polio?

I think I’ve got the Wu Flu now, started to feel a little “off” last night and woke up this morning feeling like dog shit. Got a 100 temp, congested, sore throat, chills and just feel like I’ve got the flu. Spent the day in bed because I just feel wiped out.

Or it’s just a plain old cold or flu Roll Eyes

What a hell of a way to start the new year! Confused

How about smallpox? Hell, why focus on any particular virus. When have we even as a country approved and taken a vaccine without 'some' assurance of acquired immunity as a result? I can't remember a single example.

First person in Israel jabbed with 4th vaccine dose

https://www.i24news.tv/en/news...ith-4th-vaccine-dose

Lead researcher of clinical trial on second booster shot calls it 'an exciting moment'

The first participant of an Israeli study on the effectiveness of a fourth vaccine dose against Covid-19 was jabbed on Monday morning at Sheba Medical Center at Tel Hashomer near Tel Aviv.

The trial is meant to shed light on the efficacy of a second booster shot and help lawmakers set policy in Israel and globally.

Dr. Gili Regev-Yochay, director of the Infection Prevention and Control Unit at Sheba and the lead researcher of the trial, called it "an exciting moment," adding that "we may have reached a maximum of antibodies and a fourth vaccine will not give much." Eek

The study will have 6,000 individuals, including 150 medical staff, receive a fourth shot.

To be included in the study, participants must have received their third shot no later than August 20, 2021, and they must have a serological result below 700.

The study is being carried out in conjunction with the Health Ministry and was approved by the government's senior panel on human medical trials.

Over 4.2 million people in Israel have received all three available vaccine doses against the virus.

This is a reminder guys: Around here, we do not use the terms "vaxxed" or "unvaxxed".

Vaccinated

Unvaccinated

These are the terms I wish for you to use.

I can make this 'vaxxed' stuff a trigger word but it gets in the way of the posting of some news articles. If necessary, I'll do this, but one way or another, the members of this forum are going to refrain from using this annoying shorthand.

It's surprising, to me, how you are obliged to repeat the same, simple guidelines, over and over again

So now the most common variant is about equivalent to a bad cold and it has mutated enough from the original strain to make the mRNA vaccines ineffective.

Yet we are still requiring people who test positive to leave work or school and quarantine because they might infect someone else at work or school with the equivalent of a bad cold.

At what point do we stop testing people who are not sick to see if they are infected with a virus that might or might not make them sick, and might or might not make someone else sick?

The exceptions being the elderly and people with confounding health factors who should take extra precautions. But then elderly sometimes die of the common flu as well, so they are almost always at higher risk.

If I'm going to eat in a restaurant, I want a physical menu and nothing else, and waitstaff must be unmasked. This is not negotiable.
