Here is the detailed plan to reopen Michigan. All businesses can reopen in Phase 6.

https://www.clickondetroit.com...ly-reopen-the-state/

Phase 6
Reaching this phase would mean that community spread is not expected to return because of sufficient community immunity and availability of treatment.

As a result, the number of infected individuals falls to nearly zero, and the community does not typically experience this strain of the virus returning.

All areas of the economy reopen in this phase, and gatherings of all sizes can resume.

Yes you read that right... There has to be zero cases and no chance of return before everything can open. For all practical purposes, maybe 2021 to never.

For those of us imprisoned by the evil queen of MI and who might be wondering about her executive orders:
Its now 60+ in 57 days.
Rather than the filing of a lawsuit, the legislature should be mobilizing an aggressive statewide signature drive to remove her from office.
I would be happy to wear a mask to sign that!

The thing about the military not accepting people who've been hospitalized by the virus is not true. The said policy memo is a draft that got leaked. Per Chariman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff - Gen. Mark Milley. Link

Further, even if it was true, the number of enlistment-age people hospitalized by the virus and who don't have some other underlying and disqualifying condition has to be an extremely small number.

Yeah another non story by someone pushing an agenda. The military excludes people from enlistment all the time for all sorts of conditions.

Life is as good as can be expected in s Indiana. Plenty of meat in Kroger today and prices were same as usual. About 2/3rds wore masks but I got no evil eye because I didn't. Indiana has gop house, senate and governor and our local mayor is gop along with a majority of city council. I am disappointed in Menards. They are forcing customers to wear masks if you want to shop. I needed to shop there a couple days ago so I paid a buck and bought one of their disposable masks but today I needed something from a hardware store so I called Menards and asked if their silly mask rule was still in effect. It is and it's a corporate decision. I said fine, Rural King is closer anyway.

Since March there have been large gatherings in our riverfront parks on pretty days. No one complains or tries to be a Fauci fascist.

Louisville is in plain sight and they are having a hell of a time worrying about we reckless hoosiers but then they have a snowflake governor and Louisville's ultra liberal mayor both spend their time thinking up ways to control their minions and keep them from enjoying freedom that's just across the river.

Won't be a problem as we won't be camping in Michigan. Public and private campgrounds are closed in Ohio as well. We can stop at a Wal-Mart in Ohio if we have to, but the plan is to get through Ohio to Ann Arbor where my wife and two younger kids will be. The 5th wheel has an 18cuft fridge so I can bring quite a lot of food up. I wanted to leave it home, since Cedar Point isn't happening for us this year. On the other hand, I wasn't sure how to carry 4 kayaks, 5 bicycles, and all the rest of our stuff for the summer in the truck alone. Plus, we have guests coming up this summer and our house is only 2 bedrooms and 1 bath, so the extra space would be good.

I wonder how closing the state parks affects the boat ramps in the state parks? I also have to wonder how it affects the ATV trails in the Black Mountain Recreation Area?

Matt Ridley is my favorite lay science reporter/writer. Everything I've read by him has been clear, cogent, and common sensical.

In this article, he writes about what we know and (mostly) what we don't know about the Wuhan virus, raising questions about the rationale behind lockdowns etc. and pointing out where we know some science and where we are stumbling around in the dark.

quote:
We know everything about Sars-CoV-2 and nothing about it. We can read every one of the (on average) 29,903 letters in its genome and know exactly how its 15 genes are transcribed into instructions to make which proteins. But we cannot figure out how it is spreading in enough detail to tell which parts of the lockdown of society are necessary and which are futile. Several months into the crisis we are still groping through a fog of ignorance and making mistakes. There is no such thing as ‘the science’.

This is not surprising or shameful; ignorance is the natural state of things. Every new disease is different and its epidemiology becomes clear only gradually and in retrospect. Is COVID-19 transmitted mainly by breath or by touching? Do children pass it on without getting sick? Why is it so much worse in Britain than Japan? Why are obese people especially at risk? How many people have had it? Are ventilators useless after all? Why is it not exploding in India and Africa? Will there be a second wave? We do not begin to have answers to these questions.

As a result, we don’t really know what works. It is possible that washing your hands, not shaking hands with others, not gathering in large crowds, and wearing a face mask in public, but no more than this, might have been enough, as Sweden seems to suggest. Forcibly shutting schools and stores and aggressively policing sunbathers in parks may have added little in terms of reducing the rate of spread.

There is one vital fact that emerges from the fog. Countries that did a lot of testing from the start have fared much better than countries that did little testing. This is true not just of many Asian countries, such as South Korea (though Japan is an exception), but within Europe too. Up to the middle of last month, Iceland, Lithuania, Estonia and Germany had done many more tests per million people and recorded many fewer deaths per million people than Belgium, Britain, Italy and Sweden. As Max Roser of the website Our World In Data puts it: ‘The countries with the highest death rates got there by having the lowest testing rates.’

More good stuff in the article.

Millions of people are expected to fall ill with tuberculosis due to coronavirus lockdown

https://www.cnbc.com/2020/05/0...circ=taboolainternal

There will be many, many more things like this happen because of these “lockdowns”. Aka, unforeseen consequences.

The fact they were shut down for more than a week demonstrates just how incredibly incompetent the response to this bug has been. For god sake, shut down and disinfect while tested and isolating whomever necessary, then open the doors and get back to business. Another completely unnecessary, man made, crisis.

OK I get that you and your family are quite upset over the lockdown. What part of the lockdown bothers you the most?? Are you suffering economic harm from long term unemployment, is it governmental tryanny, lack of freedom? Or just venting??

One thing that I am seeing is people are so frightened they are putting off necessary medical tests such as echocardiograms, chest X rays etc. We all know the consequences of not getting needed tests. Most physician's offices remain very slow.

My two little boys are really starting to act out and have a hard time. There are no parks and playgrounds to go play at, they can’t be around their friends, we aren’t even supposed to be having family get togethers which we haven’t really adhered to as we still let the boys see their Nana and Pops (my wife’s parents). We need to buy a van soon, not allowed to do that. My wife and boys desperately need haircuts, can’t do that. Luckily I still have my job, and have a work from home schedule now except Wednesday’s where I must stand in front of a thermal imaging camera with a guard who scans me before I can proceed, then I have to wear a mask at all times inside the facility.

It’s just the way this asshole keeps extending this state shutdown/lockdown each time the deadline comes up that really pisses me off. I’m just glad I’m not a realtor; the real estate industry in the state of PA is completely DEAD since March 19th, realtors are NOT allowed to do anything in this state, not even virtually or over the phone.

Our state is fucked, and that was the plan all along. Crash it hard and ensure Trump does not win it again in order to win the election (we put him over the top in 2016).

Forgive me for interjecting here, but I think its the same thing we're seeing virtually everywhere across the entire country. The masses (i.e. us) are about fed up with incredibly unimpressive and incompetent bureaucrats, drunk on power, F-ing up everything they touch and refusing to allow people to return to their lives, even when the 'science' doesn't support their retarded decisions. Personally, I think the public's approach in all of these states should be the same. Huge majorities of the public should give their elected morons the big middle finger as they head back to work and their lives, assuming that is even possible at this point.

But it is rather interesting that two of the states most hellbent on destroying the lives of their residents are Michigan and Pennsylvania, two of the three states that gave Trump the oval office in 2016. I'm sure that's just a coincidence. Roll Eyes
