Well, we new that it wouldn’t take long for Philadelphia’s new police chief fresh in from Portland, OR to make her mark and thoroughly fuck things up in Philly, so from the proverbial chapter of “What Could Possibly Go Wrong”, sub-chapter titled “What Were They Thinking”, we have this as reported from The Conservative Treehouse -

Thunderdome 2020 Begins – Philadelphia Police Will Not Arrest for Burglary or Theft Due to Coronavirus…

A misleading headline, as they WILL respond, collect info and IDs and issue paperwork. It would seem just delaying the in person processing. Given how slow the justice system is, I guess this just adds a month or two to the same net effect.
My neighbor is a deputy with the largest county in the Houston metro area and says they’re just issuing paperwork too for non-violent (you go to jail for violent and violence is up) because they’re concerned about Wuhan virus getting into their jails. He’s also concerned shitbags will cross state lines and not show because it’ll be too minor to extradite (he said no problem with other Texas cities sending them back).

Even if it is “violent”, unless they kill somebody, they are being immediately released ROR.
Is that your jurisdiction, Harris County (Texas), or both?

And the "M" word has just been uttered by a state governor.

“[W]e have the ability to do martial law … if we feel the necessity,” Newsom said during a press conference on California’s ongoing response to the deadly illness. In what would be an extraordinary measure, martial law is the suspension of ordinary law and the imposition of direct military control of a population. The governor has already placed the California National Guard on alert for humanitarian duties, including food distribution and public safety activities."

We get it asshole, you have the power to declare martial law. But it is stupid to say it during a press conference while your people are ordered to "shelter in place" and forced closure of most businesses. While people are stressed beyond belief.

FYI from my brother the ER doc if interested:

Hey guys, I have been meaning to send a text out to you especially after the meeting I had this morning with the other doctors at my hospital (by phone). It was all about the coronavirus. Initially I think we all felt this was just a dumb virus and there was a lot of social over reactions, however we are seeing two things happening, number one this is more deadly and more contagious than influenza by a long shot, And hospitals are already being overwhelmed. People are getting very sick, and especially the elderly, by which I mean anyone older than 65.
All of the data shows that by decreasing the rate of spread we will prevent the high spike in transmission which will help hospitals not be overwhelmed. Which helps people not die.

New data shows about 25% of infected patients don’t have symptoms, but they are highly infectious. Especially in the first week of infection.

We are also now realizing that there are likely thousands of true positive cases that aren’t reported, and I think we will all have friends or family that end up being infected by this virus.

My guidance Would be to not have any get togethers. I think we need to understand how serious this really is.

Happy to discuss this further and answer any questions. It is a daily change of information, the situation is very fluid.

Yeah... sobering. That's why we are doing all of this "social distancing".
But for how long can we shut everything down?

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

Has anybody seen any reports on this virus and the homeless population? Seems like before this crisis there was something on the news practically every night regarding the homeless (or “campers” as they seem to be referred to in PDX). Some of these camps seem like perfect breeding grounds, like they are for typhus, so are there any plans to mitigate that or is it too un-PC to talk about? Seems strange that every two seconds we’re being lectured about social distancing and sanitation and I have yet to see something on the homeless issue.

It's a good question. Funny how that happens, huh?
If anything good comes out of this, maybe it will be the elimination of homeless “camps”.

The only mention I have seen is that some of the various cities implementing "shelter in place", basically stay off the streets, have exempted the homeless from these orders.

My job was considered critical and we would be going in to work, at least the number of us necessary to keep up with our manufacturing of clinical trial material. Today that all changed. We are shutting down manufacturing, working from home and we were told it could be 3 months. Hoping not.

This is starting to have an affect on the real estate market also, with many potential buyers and sellers saying that they will be waiting a while. This could hurt us very much financially if it lasts long. Hoping there are still enough sales to keep us above water. My pay alone isn't enough.

These go to eleven.

I don't know how Trump keeps his composure when he's constantly asked the most ridiculous biased questions from leftist media. This fkn bitch today just had to keep pushing him about the "Chinese" virus. Someone needs to go off on them and their complete lack of integrity in a time when we want answers to actual pertinent questions.

The homeless know about it. I was down in St. Louis City yesterday looking at a vacant building. As I walked around back there was a homeless guy who had himself set up. I said hi and went about my business. Another homeless guy approached him and asked why he had "moved" here. He told the other he was avoiding the Corona.

UAW strikes again

I am no fan of the UAW, by any stretch. But in this case they arent wrong. The plant is thousands of people, working in close proximity, eating in close proximity. If this is so dangerous that all of the office and admin need to go home, why are the shop workers still working? This is either a major health crisis or it isn't
Yet Tesla remains open with Musk showing little interest in changing anything to accommodate this virus.

Stay home if you want, Musk tells Tesla workers as Fremont plant stays open

The showrooms are closed where I live, another of our customers.

Someone needs to bitch slap the media. Definitely a new rule, no more questions about the name of the virus, nicknames, or how someone heard someone else say another person called it _____

GM and Ford are shutting down for a very simple reason: nobody is going to buy a new vehicle until there is some sort of light at the end of the tunnel. All the 0% financing isn't going to change that if you still have to make the payments. How many people now working from home even need the vehicle they have? I won't have to take the kids to school, sports practices, confirmation class, church, etc.

Hold on a minute, it will get better. Ally just announced four months till first payment. If they keep this up I may have to trade the wife out of her ride.
