Why? We wonder. Seems as though that would be SOP.

Yeah, body cams cost money, then there’s storage of said vids, then someone to monitor and deal with the demanded videos(someone will have to edit out children and others, when the cop is inside a home (4th amendment issues),etc). Then there’s daily charging…the list goes on

I was the guy my department tried out the cameras, placement, charging etc. they really are a PITA. How long do you keep info? How much is the budget for that storage?

At a regular PD or SO it’s not too difficult. You go into roll call and pick up your camera and taser(if not issued), but what happens if you are on the way into work and trip across something - then it looks fishy if you aren’t wearing one.

There’s a myriad of issues for officers deployed to other towns where they usually don’t go.

I don’t have a problem with them not having cameras because I understand why they wouldn’t. But Joe citizen might not-or believe why said fed doesn’t.

Fox News’ @brithume on Minneapolis shooting: “I don’t think I’ve seen a conflict between the federal government and the states as intense as this since the civil rights movement of the 1960s when southern states were trying to block enforcement of civil rights laws and the rest of it.”

“These ICE agents had every right to be there and, indeed, one might argue had a duty to be there. They are this nation’s enforcers of the immigration laws and they certainly would like cooperation from local and other officials. This is their job and there’s no evidence here they weren’t doing their job or doing it improperly. The way these local officials are reacting is extraordinary.”

“That statement the Mayor made laced with obscenities telling the agents to ‘get the F out of Minnesota’ is something we haven’t seen in a very long time and I can’t believe across the country this will sit well with the public.”

Because exactly at what point do you go from a legal first amendment protest to a criminal act of impeding a federal officer performing duties? Then, will the conduct be sufficiently egregious to result in a high bail and an indictment? And if you do get an indictment, what is the likelihood of getting a conviction? And is that use of limited prosecutorial resources the best use, or are you better going after terrorists, fraudsters, murderers, and child molesters?

Going after protesters before they cross a really hard line is a low likelihood of success endeavor.

We are 37tril in the hole throw money at every sponge that exists and we can’t find a few thousand per uniformed federal officer ? We have data centers around the country storing every text, email phone call and internet search anybody makes. There may be all kinds of reasons not to but lack of funds is not one of them.

Bodycams aren't without their challenges, but plenty of other federal agencies of comparable size use (and mandate) bodycams.

Heck, even my small town agency has two body cams per officer (the battery only lasts ~8-9 hours of intermittent use so you have to swap partway through a shift), and the means to sort, store, track, edit, and release footage.

In 2026, the reason an agency like ICE doesn't have bodycams is because they haven't made it a priority. Not because they can't afford it, can't handle the logistics, etc.

My son is a county deputy in WV, they have had body cams for a while.
Multiple people in the office to review, categorize etc.
I can’t see it as a money issue for ICE.

I understand with regard to the protesters. I was more talking about those in charge. The Governors, Mayors, Congressmen, etc..., who are lighting the fire under the protesters.

IMO, we'd damn well better cut the head off the snake, or this shit is going to get really ugly...which is what they want.

The uglier Walz and Frey can make this the more they will like it. This will replace the fraud in the news cycle for weeks. This stupid protester that got shot gave Walz a huge gift. Don't even act like you have any empathy for this woman Timmy you are damn grateful she did what she did.

Nah, I'm not seeing that happening this time.

I'm going to pray you're correct. my expectation is with the fed's and the state officials holding different positions that ratchets up the chance of conflict.

Depends on what side you’re on.
Where you’re at in Montana is probably going to take a pretty hard stand against the protesters when they commit crimes.

Here in Illinois, Cook County, Chicago…
Our government encourages that behavior.

Funny how most people understand that this means STOP! DO WHAT YOU'RE TOLD" (illegal)

But fail to understand that this LEGALLY means.. "STOP! DO WHAT YOU'RE TOLD"

I go to therapy generally once a week and the office I go to is immediately next to ICE's Massachusetts facility. The cast of characters you see out there is something else. I went yesterday; very glad I'm not going today. I did see yesterday though, that they got a delivery of a couple dozen new cruisers.

Not well considered, retard.

President trump, END ALL FEDERAL FUNDING GOING TO MINNESOTA. Governor Walz says they need NO HELP FROM THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT.

But keep collecting federal income taxes from Minnesota as that is mandatory under the 16th Amendment.

That'll save about $43B annually. Source

“It strikes me that we are undergoing an epidemic of political vigilantism right now.

Why are people showing up in vehicles, in convoys, not just in Minneapolis, but all over the country in an effort to obstruct lawful federal law enforcement activities?

This is not an isolated incident. We’ve had hundreds of car rammings against ICE agents across the country.

According to DHS, this lady in this car today, along with other vehicles, had been tracking ICE agents around. Why are people believing that they can drive their car into a federal law enforcement situation, and that’s somehow appropriate?

I understand they don’t like the fact that these agents are enforcing existing immigration law… but that’s not how we change laws in this country.

If you don’t like the law, you talk to politicians. You don’t drive your car into the middle of a building or a law enforcement situation.

If I don’t like how much the IRS is charging me in taxes, I don’t drive my car into the Treasury Department. I call my congressman.

Political vigilantism is being encouraged by Democratic officials like Minnesota Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan, who earlier this year told people to, quote, ‘put your bodies on the line.

And Governor Tim Walz has been calling these guys Gestapo all year.” “What do you think happens when you radicalize a base of people like this?!”
