When your time allows, CPD SIG, can you please explain what the term “defensive fire” is that is being used (and repeated in every article) in the context of this event?

Thank you!

In light of the Portland PD arrest of the reporter yet no arrests for Pantifa I have come to a conclusion. I am really against "Consent Decrees" on Police Departments (ask yourself, in all those "bad departments" and "horrible officers", how many officers were EVER charged by the Obummer and Bidet Just Us Department? The answer is NONE) but in Portland PD's case, I say go for it. They are so screwed up that something will have to be done to get them corrected.

After listening to the Chicago PD radio broadcast, I think the Chief of Patrol may have just cut a few Fed Police Grants and might be getting a visit from Federal Agents.

Re: “Dispatch audio CONFIRMS Chicago police were ORDERED not to assist Federal Agents that were cornered earlier today in Chicago.”

I’d guess that the Federal Agents could defend themselves quite well. And maybe capture a few perps in the process. And hit ‘em with Federal charges.

Where the hell is the Chicago police union in all this? Do they approve of their members being thrown under the bus by the politicians who are giving the orders?

I'm not advocating that the CPD officers themselves disobey any orders, put their rank or pension at risk, or individually go out on a limb; that's an awful lot to ask when it isn't an unconstitutional order. But where is the union to protect their reputation?

Why doesn't every officer go see their local sympathetic doctor and mysteriously be sick on Monday?

Again, I am explicitly NOT calling out the CPD. We have a number of them on this board, and they have made their personal feelings known as well as they can without personal risk, and I appreciate the predicament.

Is anything going to change? Are we going to send in enough US Marshalls and ICE guys to do a mass round up of these thugs, and put them in solitary on federal charges awaiting trial, you know, like the Jan 6 folk?

In short, when do the gloves come off?

I read yesterday that the only difference between Portland PD and Antifa is the color of the uniforms.

I'd say a lot has changed since DJT replaced FJB in the White House. The difference is stark... and it's only been 9 months.

But I hear you, the US Marshalls and ICE guys may have to take the gloves off. Using live ammo instead of tear gas and "less than lethal" would be a game changer.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

^^^^^^ Oh, I agree, chellim, things have changed significantly with DJT. I should have been more specific. I'm really referring to the unending disruptions in Portland and Chicago.

Plus, I really want to see someone stick it to the leadership in those towns and states, not just the protesters themselves.

I have high hopes, but I'm inpatient.

And if anyone even thinks the police are on the side of anything other than their paychecks need to read his account.

He was being beaten by rioting THUGS and got arrested.

Guess who the good guys aren't.

I suspect this is one of the desired outcomes of the TDS leftists running some of these cities. They want the terrible optics of federal agents opening fire on attackers. Rather than the local police controlling the crowds before things get too out of control, using more restrained methods such as tear gas, they are willing to let the violent agitators whip themselves into a frenzy and then become martyrs in the leftist cause.

It is either that or they want federal agents to be killed or grievously harmed by the antifa attackers.

There's no other explanation I can think of. The protestors' actions are not going to dissuade DJT from enforcing immigration law.
