in the same vein as the pregnant lady getting shot this one is kinda crazy also (not similar circumstances -- just a crazy scenario)

starts off as a custody dispute on private property and goes downhill from there

Idiots. Neither parent should have custody of the children.

The shooter doesn't seem phased at all by the fact that he just shot someone and that he is standing next to a guy that's dying or dead.

The way the father is talking, you can tell the mother has been pulling crap with his visitation on a pretty constant basis. She thinks it perfectly reasonable to just keep the kids whenever she pleases.

Pistol caliber I think.

Sad situation where people feel the need to resort to this. I feel for the kids involved.

There is a 2nd video from inside the house with a much better view of dead guy trying to take the rifle away from the shooter.

Perhaps. I would think the Dad has done plenty of stuff as well. In these situations BOTH parties are at fault.
Yelling and sreaming in front of the kids is beyond stupid.

WTH? The wife of the guy that got shot keeps arguing with the shooter for damn near a minute before calling police and ambulance? No one cares he's laying there motionless, and she doesn't freak out "OMG! OMG! my husband is shot and dying, OMG!"?

Pretty sure the shooter is going to get charged for this. I don't see any evidence that the father could reasonably be construed as a deadly threat to justify confronting him with a firearm. But the father was pretty damn stupid to escalate with a guy pointing a gun at him.

Shooting happened 20 days ago and he still hasn’t been arrested. Apparently the cops might think it is justified or they are waiting to see if a grand jury will bring charges.

Just having a gun, on your own property, is not justification for the dead guy to get offended and attack. This is exactly a Kyle Rittenhouse scenario. Probably shouldn’t have come out of the house with the gun, but it was legal for him to do so. It was not legal for dead man to assault the homeowner.

It may go to trial, but I think the homeowner will not face prison time. Certainly not 1st or 2nd degree murder. Maybe a lesser charge.

Part of it is that the shooter is actually the husband of a local judge, though they're getting divorced. So the local cops are apparently referring everything to a different jurisdiction to investigate and prosecute due to conflict of interest issues.

Baloney. He wasn't attacked. He got his feelings hurt.

The shooter fired a shot at his feet (with his wife in the line of fire) and the dead guy threw him off. That's it. No justification and no self defense IMO.

And don't get me started on the utter disregard for human life by all parties there. Sickening.

Seems like both parties could have made better choices. I guess the point of having a legal system is to resolve disputes without having to resort to violence too bad both didn’t make use of the legal system instead of getting in a pissing contest.

Well now visitation will be impossible. Better to have the fight in court. That gun looked like a Hipoint.
