From what I know about a grand jury is a damn joke. Let me explain... the grand jury is GUIDED by the district attorney.... He deciedes which direction he wants to present the evidence.. He can present it in favor of the defendent and when no-true-bill is returned then he can say that his hands are tied and he can not go further in prosecution or he can say that a true-bill is returned he can say that he Has To go ahead and prosecute...... Just because someone has a true or no-true-bill does not mean that they are guilty or innocent. It is a tool that can be used in a way that the district attorney can wash his hands and claim he is just following the grand jury"s findings eventhough he "GUIDED" them . .............................. drill sgt.

The gun was a Ruger PC carbine, pistol caliber.

The tactitards will tell us time and time again how ineffective a 9mm carbine is. Just buy a real rifle bro.

Well not to start an ammo war but if you shoot somebody between the eyes, caliber is t really so important.

What a shitshow this episode was. Arguments about the appropriate use of castle doctrine do none of us any good. Everyone in this video seem to be an asshole and a compelling argument for gun control. Fuck.

Don’t disagree a bit about it being a shitshow, but I’d argue that they are compelling arguments for asshole control, or better yet, self control.

Definitely.

This video will likely be prominently featured in the ads produced by gun control organizations.

Dixie Chicks music in the background and chickens clucking in the yard......? Mix in firearms. What could go wrong? Fucking hell.

Firearms are a last resort. How hard is that to understand?

Punch dude in the nose? OK......take your chances.

Wonder if under such high stress her brain was playing tricks on her and it took a while to sink in. possible.

Did I see correctly that there was something of a warning shot (or maybe an AD) at the victim's feet before the fatal shot?

Lots of stupid going around, but green-shirt signed his own death warrant when he grabbed rifleman by the shoulders and threw him off rifleman's own porch.

Homeowner should not have grabbed a gun for non violent argument. Father should have high tailed it out of there and involved police/courts. No good could have came from either parties actions.

The bottom line of this incident is that the child at the center of it now has to live with the decisions of both men for the rest of his life.

I would charge him. Shooter tossed off the porch, but did not look like a gun grab attempt. And he looked proud of himself for killing that guy. Hell charge the mother too.

This should be interesting analysis of the shooting.

Starts in 30 minutes from now.

^ listened to Andrew Branca's argument. I see his side and wait for Rekieta response. Man 2 anywhere but TX? His interview with Nathan Debruin today was interesting.

these situation are pretty convoluted which is interesting -- because just like with police body-cams you would think 'the truth is on the video'...

but if anything - the video actually makes matters MORE debatable because each side sees what they want to see:

is it either :

trigger happy homeowner uses gun to shoot unarmed father

-OR-

aggressive trespasser refuses commands to leave property and is shot after attempting to disarm homeowner

of course in the end it doesn't matter what we think -- my guess is it will get adjudicated by a judge / jury. could go either way.

the X factor is 'Texas' which leans more to the homeowner. i'm just sad when i see these because you think 'this didn't have to happen...'

I've watched both video's multiple times and I'm having a hard time calling it a justified shooting.

I know we don't see everything, but from what I saw the situation escalated when the homeowner came outside with a firearm.

Hindsight is 20/20 and yes the dead man should have left but at the same time, maybe the homeowner and his girlfriend (ex wife of dead guy) should have just gone in their house, locked the door and waited on the police. Now if dead guy tries to break in, different story on the self defense.

The attorney for the dead guy claims this was planned by the homeowner and his girlfriend and I do think that is a possibility.

Lastly the shooter claims in the video that he didn't want this to happen, BULLSHIT, you brought a firearm into a verbal argument. Someone just trespassing isn't justification to take someone else's life.....

Won’t render an opinion on right/wrong as I’m not really familiar with Texas law, but I will say this:

While I never want to have to shoot anybody, I sure as hell wouldn’t want to shoot someone under circumstances like that. What a cluster.

Emotions run high when kid custody is involved. Just another reason to enter carefully into marriage and to do with the highest level of commitment.

Religious opinion below warning:
We as humans sure don’t have to look hard to see examples of what happens when we step outside God’s intended design. Divorce is a tragedy, and yes, I understand it is totally unavoidable in many situations. Still a tragedy.

Well he sure as fuck has prevented the kid from seeing his father now.

He might strut around like a banty rooster for a while, but the boy will grow to hate that man.

I live in the Lubbock and have been half ass keeping up with mess. The DA has turned this investigation over to the State AG because Carruth's,x-wife, Anne-Marie is a district judge who was also a witness to all of this. If there is a trial she could be called as a witness.
