Un-fricking believable the level of moron-ity in this state.

SAN DIEGO — The California Air Resources Board voted to end the sale of gas furnaces and gas water heaters by the year 2030.

The major announcement falls on the heels of California also ending the sale of gas power cars by the year 2035. The two steps are the most aggressive climate actions ever taken by a state in the U.S.

“Together furnaces and water heaters typically that run on gas account for 90% of gas use in the average California household. So just eliminating these two sources of pollution is going to be a big win for our air quality and our health as well as for addressing climate change,” said Leah Louis Prescott, an environmental advocate.

California has been leading the country in the push to end the use of fossil fuels, and the latest move to electrification is signaling a sea change in ending the use of natural gas.

Doctors inform parents of marijuana use linked to youth mental health
“I do think a lot more states are going to be following in California’s foots steps and lookin at this as an opportunity to reduce the pollution in our homes and businesses,” Prescott said.

If people do have gas-powered furnaces, there is no need to panic, but in eight years, if your gas furnace or gas water heater breaks, you would have to replace it with an electric appliance.

Then Governor, Ronald Reagan signed off on the creation of CARB.
The 14 voting members of CARB are appointed by the Governor of California.

It seems like every time CARB is mentioned in the forum, CARB is making new rules that affect a whole lot of people. Seems to me California threw representation, separation of powers, and checks and balances right out the window with this.

California should change its motto from “Eureka” to “Making your state look good since 1850” or “Our state is more dumber than you”.

More people need to leave that state and let it collapse by its own policies. Then it will change for the better.

It will become a shithole like Mexico, and it will never change, because stupid people that remain will continue to let maggot dictators rule over them.

The only thing California could ever do that I would find hard to believe would be if they actually enacted smart policies or rolled back the absurd crap they’ve done already.

Hope folks enjoy sitting in the dark cause in a few years when they’re charging their EV, cooking dinner on an electric stove and showering using hot water from an electric heater, the grid is gonna collapse. Hard.

I think there should be more felt pain when you’re stupid. These mandates always take place when the current leaders are out of power. Often they’ll get adjusted or cancelled down the road. Why not just make it effective today? After all, the earth is in peril.

Seriously, how much "pollution" does gas create???

California is what single-party rule looks like when the "single party" is a collection of leftist window-lickers. Supermajority in the legislature, lock on the governor's office, and and good party members installed more-or-less permanently in the judiciary.

There are substantial pockets of right-thinking people, but they're overwhelmed politically by the sheer number of idiots who vote on the basis of emotion, on "free!" government benevolence, or on what the influencers and cool folk tweet.

I love the state, but the politics and policies are beyond repair. Total financial collapse will be the only "reset" down the line.

At least this particular moronic move won't affect the saner-49.

Raise the cost of living there, while allowing more nat-gas for the rest of us....

You'd think the CA legislature isn't concerned about their constituents.

The UK is doing the same insane bullshit, trying to outlaw gas boilers which are the norm there and force everyone into heat pumps.

People are finding out they not only have to replace the boiler but ALL the piping and radiators making it crazy expensive and not many people are doing it right now and the government just released a statement stating that they are “perplexed” that people aren’t rushing to do this.

I predict gas appliances in California and the UK will have a HUGE black market as people ALWAYS find a way to beat the stupidity forced on them.

Dont be too sure. 17 states have laws requiring them to follow CA laws on vehicle emissions, meaning they will have to follow the CA elctric car mandate unless they change their laws. Dont worry, this natural gas heating ban will spread like a CA wildfire

People don't need to move to another state, we really do NOT want their mind pollution. What needs to be done is cut the power lines at the California border. Force California to stop shedding carbon production to it's surrounding states and actually produce all that electric power within the state of Commiefornia. It wouldn't take long for the people in that state to see the nonsense in government they have voted for.

BTW, I expect that at some point we will see Federal limits on the amount of power that any state can "purchase" from out of state. I expect that in about 8-10 years everyone in Commiefornia will be riding bicycles because there won't be enough power to recharge their car batteries.

I've stopped counting.

And to varying degrees, like it or not, intentional or not, they will bring a little bit of their stupid with them. (or a lot of it)

California has tainted all the states around it and it continues to spread. NY/MA/CT did the same to the east coast, and it's working it's way west.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

California is an interesting case study. These people have been, and continue to vote against their best interest. They put up with things I thought no American would. Doesn't help my personal optimism concerning the state of this nation. I've always said we don't have a politician problem we have a people problem. California is exhibit A for that notion.
