Incorrect. The safe school zone act says you can’t carry unless you are licensed by the state. It was legal for California LTC holders to carry on school campuses until a few years ago (definitely less than nine). Some assistant principal in Bakersfield IIRC had a handgun in his office (backpack, desk drawer, don’t remember). Somehow somebody found out and called the cops. Cops came, looked at his LTC, said “Not illegal.” Wonderful folks in Sacramento decided to “fix” this. Maybe 5 or 6 years ago. Up until that time I thought it was pretty cool that as nutty as CA is one could legally carry in a school here if they had a permit. Oh, in fact Montana came out with an awesome response to the Federal Safe Schools Zone law soon after it passed. It has a lot of whereas’ but from memory the gist is something like this: “Since schools are on the main roads, Montana residents have a constitutional right to firearms, everyone has a firearm in their vehicle during hunting season, etc, for the purposes of the Federal Safe School Zones law, *ALL* Montana residents shall be considered licensed by the state of Montana.” Great way to tell the Feds where to stick their unconstitutional law!

Wait, what? |
I suspect that the feds stupid ass law that protects NOBODY is universally ignored in most states. If you carry wisely and intelligently, nobody will ever know you’re in “violation” unless the shtf. In that case taking the heat is preferable to dead kids. “Remember to get vaccinated or a vaccinated person might get sick from a virus they got vaccinated against because you’re not vaccinated.” - author unknown

Dallas used to have a law against having a firearm with you when within 1000 feet of a school facility. Strict enforcement of that act would have prevented driving almost anywhere in the city--virtually any direct path would fall near a school. CA is no surprise not an exception to ignoring that law. There was an infamous case during the time when CA residents can open carry a handgun as long as it was unloaded. (And you don't have to tell me how stupid that allowance was.) Someone open carrying was called in and police encountered him in a laundromat. Everything checked out fine initially and the police left. Afterwards, they came to his house and arrested him. Someone, either the police or the DA, mapped out where the laundromat was and looked for schools inside the 1000 feet of any school grounds. "It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual."
