We are in the same boat, Brother. Hopefully, 11 months of living Hell(for me) will see a brighter side later tonight - with a Trump victory.

Sorry about your wife. I bet she is up there in the heavens rooting for us all!
Trust me on this…Sigforum got me through and supported me during this difficult period in my life…I am and will be in your debt until I join her Frown
Damn brother, bless you and thanks for the reminder that it could be much worse that it is. May you speak to her presence in your prayer tomorrow with the same happy words.

Parabellum doesn’t need my thanks for how he runs the forum, but I do want to make clear my appreciation for this thread. I vividly remember the beliefs and assumptions being confidently expressed before the 2020 election, and I knew that many of the same this time might likewise turn out to be nothing more than wishful thinking. As a consequence I deliberately avoided any news on election day; waking up the day after was going to be soon enough to learn the results and would give me a day to process the events before going to bed again if the worst had happened.

It’s not defeatism to recognize and be prepared for the possible; it’s simply a recognition of the ways of the world that any thinking person should be intelligent—and courageous—enough to be capable of. But sometimes a little help is very useful and appreciated.

My being able to accept the possibility of a loss was helped by parabellum’s early comments here, and for that I was grateful, just as I’ve been grateful for countless other things because of my membership.

All of the childish and undignified reactions from the left that we see all across the internet for the past couple of days- this stuff is light-years away from how adults should behave in the face of defeat.

They wish us all dead, they wish themselves dead. The world has come to an end. There's no reason to go on. They're screaming and crying into their phones and then publishing these things to the world. Dignity and self-respect do not enter into the matter. Throwing tantrums in public and making sure that the maximum number of people have the opportunity to witness their behavior- utter madness.

Along with that crap are the smug elitists who scold and browbeat and lecture us because they think we're stupid and that they are our betters.

It's axiomatic that having an expensive education does not make one intelligent. I know some tremendously smart people who may have never set foot onto a college campus.

There is an ocean of people between the wailing children and the scolding egomaniacs, who are neither, but who still don't understand the peril in which the United States finds itself. These are the tens of millions of votes for Harris. I doubt that most of them will ever know what we have done for them and this nation, and if we had lost, those who voted for Trump would have retained their dignity, and this says so much about who we are, and about who they are.

Agree. And I'm also thankful for this thread and many others related to it.

I would contend that SF, in the vastness of the entity called USA, or even the global interwebz, is a black hole of maturity, rationality, intelligence and wisdom. Not in the sense of void of. Rather, as a dense concentration of. The resulting stoicism is enabling.
