This is not about Anti or Pro Vaccine, Anti or Pro mask. Just want to layout the facts of the situation. 1. Step-daughter (Nurse). Fully vaccinated w/ booster shot. High risk for exposure due to working on the medical floor with Covid pt. Symptoms at Day 1-3 was the worse (fever, headache, chills). She took the Covid test at Day 2 (Negative). Took another test at Day 5 (Positive). Just took OTC medications for the symptoms, isolated in her room until she got rid of most of the symptoms. She still have intermittent cough. Hospital cleared her to go back to work at Day 10. 2. Wife (Nurse) - Fully vaccinated, no booster shot. She had the same symptoms at around the same time. She may have been exposed at work as well. Took Codid Test Day 4 (Positive). Same treatment at home. Just monitored the symptoms and OTC medications. I am worried about my wife as she has a heart condition. She is cleared to go back to work at Day 10. 3. I also got hit with Covid. (J&J vaccine). I was exposed to possibly 2 sources at work. Covid+ pt on room isolation. I had to go in and out of the room to bring his meds. I also share the nurse station w/ a fellow nurse who was just cleared to back to work from Covid. Same symptoms. Same home treatment and isolation. I was cleared to go back to work at Day 5 of the first symptoms. I said NO. I feel weak and was still coughing. I dont want to give what I have to my patients and co-workers. Just not fair. Our son just started having sore throat 3 days ago. He did the Covid test yesterday. I hope he is Negative. Be safe out there fellow Sig Forum members. We lasted almost 2 years before catching it. I don't think the new strain is as bad as last year's. But each individual will deal with the virus differently. _______________________ P228 - West German

We went through twice, 15 months ago, I was the worst. The rest had midlin symptoms. For me it was comparable to a serous bought with the flu, 2 weeks worth. The 2nd time, 3-4 weeks ago, likely ‘Omicron’. This was shorter & much less severe. The sore throat was one telltale sign, light headache, body aches & fatigue. This lasted about 4-5 days, I kept a little margin off work & going out. I had the J&J shot, no biggie. I was never tested either time, why do the hassle. If someone says, ‘maybe you never had Covid’, I taint using one breath to argue with them. I just used standard, home flu methods to recover.

Best wishes for full and speedy recoveries, for all of you. I'm wondering, just for my own knowledge, how long it was from the exposure until y'all noticed definite symptoms? הרחפת שלי מלאה בצלופחים

VTail, really hard to pin point on when we were first exposed, or from where or from whom? What I can tell is that if ever you want to get tested when you start getting symptoms, wait until the 4th or 5th day "when you felt the first symptoms". Otherwise, you may get a FALSE NEGATIVE like what happened to my Step-daughter and myself. We would like to get tested and know it is seasonal Flue or Covid (some test include Inluenza A and B). They would like to know at work what we got.

Glad you all survived it. The DF family got it in Aug of ‘20. Once it’s in the house it’s going to infect everyone. We were doing everything we were told to and still got it. I’m convinced everyone will be infected eventually. It was back in our house around Christmas. We all got it again but this time the symptoms were fewer and resolved faster. The thought of getting Covid really scares the hell out of me, being diabetic, hypertensive and history of cancer. I remember watching the news last year and seeing those intubated patients who did not make it. I am glad my 78 mother went back to the farm in the Philippines last November. She did not get exposed to all 3 of us who got hit with Covid recently. _______________________ P228 - West German

The tests have a huge chance of false negatives if taken too early. The one number I remember is 50% chance of a false negative on day 3 of symptoms vs. 2% chance on day 5. Your family’s experience bears this out. We made it 2 years and got it this past week as well.

For me, my wife was exposed unknowingly and it wasn’t until 9 days later she felt the first symptoms which she thought was just allergies. The crappy thing is you can be contagious 1-2 before showing symptoms. I didn’t test positive until the end of day 3 of horrible symptoms. One of her friends who was at the same gathering didn’t get first symptoms until 15 days later. It was a group of five of them who got together to mourn the loss of one of the friend’s mom to COVID. Obviously one of them was contagious with no symptoms yet and to be safe all tested before meeting and all tested negative. All of them later tested positive and had symptoms. I have been so careful but I got it from my wife. NRA Benefactor Life Member

We all took TheraFlu OTC. This has 3 combination (Acetaminophen aka Tylenol). Takes care of fever, pain, cough. The night time was good as it has Diphenhydramine, which helps with sleep. Plenty of rest. Most important thing we watched out for is our Oxygen level Saturation. Get on of those monitor that you place on your finger at any pharmacy. Watch out for shortness of breath and/or chest pain. Go to ER immediately for either of those 2. Im not a doctor. But that is what we watch out for at work. Fever was about 2 days. They it went away.

Glad it seems to be fairly minor for everyone. It was about the same for my family. ________________________________________ -- Fear is the mind-killer. It ripped through our household as well. Oldest was down in NOLA for the Sugar Bowl and brought it home. All his fraternity brothers went home with it as well. We fortunately went through it with relatively minor symptoms and all have since recovered. Both kids had a more severe Covid infections in earlier in the pandemic. I concur with many, we’re all going to get Covid and many may get it more than once. Those too afraid to live with it should hide themselves and stop trying to run the rest of our lives. Glad your family has recovered and wishing everyone the best. _________________________ "An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile - hoping it will eat him last” - Winston Churchil

You have cow? I lift cow! |
Our whole family got it over Christmas. I think it was cause were were wiped out from driving over 50 hours, skiing, parties, too much beer for me, etc etc. 1. Kids. Basically nothing. 2. Wife, vaccinated with Moderna early on cause she was scared the Army wouldn't have enough doses and she'd be outta compliance. She got it the worst. Still dealing with mild stuff. 3. No shot for me, ever. Haven't had a flu shot in over a decade. I have mild Asthma. Don't get sick much. I basically had a chest infection. Skipped the sinus and straight to the lungs. I took it easy for 4-5 days and worked out ever since. I took the horse paste so I can piss off my in laws and tell em it worked. Not sure if it did or not. Personally I think the only reason I even felt it was from exhaustion. Literal exhaustion. I did lose taste/smell a little for about 3 days, I actually enjoyed it for reasons I won't go into. That's the only reason I think it was Covid. She tested positive but it's basically fact at this point PCR is horseshit and I don't trust it. I never took a test. Threw the made in China tests for the kids away. Aint putting that shit up their nose. 2 years ago, wife went to Korea right before Covid for Army stuff and came back literally the month before the start of this nonsense. Her whole unit, and family members all got sick with what is basically the same thing I felt this time. It skipped the sinus for me and straight to the lungs. And it lingered after the initial round, in the lungs. Like first thing in the morning, gotta cough out some clear stuff. Patented man made virus skipping the sinus and creating immediate lung stuff. Pisses me off to no end. Who ever did this HAS to hang. Aint taking me out though. Kids were so sick they were doing backflips off the couch. Good thing they have to wear masks all dam day at school. Stuff I took besides the Horse paste. I take all this regularly anyway. NAC daily- Beer on weekends. Vit D - couple times a week Quercetin with C - Daily Zinc- Daily B complex - dialy Iodine, 3-4 times a week Been doing this for 15 years for lifting. So not sure what it did or didn't do. But if you aren't taking it regularly, will probably help you if you get sick.

My wife and I are just getting over Covid. Been a week or so. We both had strong flu symptoms, fever, chills, cough. I seem to have a lingering cough. I was pretty nervous, and monitored my blood pressure and oxygen levels 2-3 time every day. We took ibuprofen and tylenol, and I took Nyquil at night. Be safe everyone. Semper Fidelis
