I have worn a Suunto Spartan Trainer HR smart watch for a few years. Way overkill for what I wanted but no one made what I wanted.
A simple true analog watch with a digital background for phone notifications.
Finally Citizen has done it true analog hands not just a digital screen with hands and to top it off a good sized stainless steel case!
The watch is a great size and has some weight to it. Unlike the Suunto which was all plastic and rubber and weighed nothing.
So of course I reached out to our good friend Dave and he had one to me as soon as he could get one. It arrived today and I have been learning and still have a bit to learn but have it setup to my needs pretty well.
True analog hands I just wish it had a second hand. The luminescence on the hands and around the face is super bright after coming inside but fades rather quickly. It does have a backlight so that is helpful. I much prefer metal bracelets so I am hoping the black stainless bracelet of my Citizen Nighthawk that died years ago fits this thing.
So far my biggest grip is that it appears one cannot set an alarm from the watch itself and must use the phone app. I hope this is not the case but can’t find any way to do it. I have a message into Citizen as I have googled and Youtubed with no luck.

However there is one bit of a problem. You may notice that my top Circle is jacked up. I am not sure the deal. No matter what function I put in that circle it is all jacked up and barely readable. Unlike all the other circles nice crisp and clear.
However if I invert the color on that circle it is crisp and clear.
So just waiting to hear back from Citizen as to what needs to be done to remedy the issue.

Cool beans ... I love the simplicity of the face. As I have gotten older, being able the read the face easily matters. And, being retired ... being able to set an alarm does not matter any more. Smile

One can do a bunch of stuff with it. Camo patterns add your own pictures, carbon fiber, chain link, mesh, etc.
I like to keep it simple as well.

I dug out my old Nighthawk and that bracelet won’t fit.
Top link is contoured to the round case of the Nighthawk. CZ Hybrid is flat where the band meets
The watch.

That's certainly a great looking specimen of a hybrid watch. I'm happy for you. Enjoy it.

Me, I wear a mechanical watch on the left and an apple watch on my right. It shows my schedule, the weather, the UV, and temperature. It also flashes any incoming emails or calls.

My wife says I'm advertising I'm a nerd.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." I'd like to see the digital background with phone if you don't mind.

Nice watch. I'm wearing the Titanium Citizen watch he sold on a group buy a while ago. Simplistic analog face too.

I am presuming you mean phone alerts. If you are looking for a super detailed pic or anything like the Apple Watch or Samsungs this is not the watch for you. It uses the same display type as a kindle so you are limited to black, white, and greyscale.

Here is a picture of an initial alert the notification source is in white at the top and a preview in black. Pretty cool that when an alert arrives the hands default to read 9:15 so the text is not blocked. I have an Amcrest Doorbell Camera and this is the alert I receive when motion is at the front door. So this is a notification from the Amcrest app. Each app/notification is slightly different. But gives you an idea.

You can then select the alert and see the whole thing. Based upon how
Much text is in the alert you can scroll down to see more. I believe I can still make the text smaller to have more show on the screen

I can’t figure out why the top circle is always jacked up with a black background because when the screen is black with white/grey text for an alert it is nice and crisp but for some reason that top circle is jacked up when it is displayed.

If you are wanting a super computer on your wrist this is not for you. I frankly don’t want a smart watch at all Unfortunately most of my day at work is being recorded with a body camera on my chest. I needed a way to be able to know who was calling, texting, what notification on my phone was without my phone coming into view of the camera and becoming public record.

Having it on the wrist is much easier to keep out of camera view compared to the phone coming out of the pocket. Especially since my phone is in the pocket directly behind my camera. If it weren’t for that I would not have a smart watch at all and would be back in a nice automatic of some sort.

I have never seen someone wear two watches. I could never do that. It weirds me out when I see guys wearing more than a single wedding ring.

I had an Apple Watch for about a week. I hate square watches very much so there is that but the whole charging daily thing is terrible.
This thing is supposed to go 15 days but we shall see. I’d get about a week and a half out of my Suunto as long as I did not use the GPS.

You can also control your music. This will come in super handy when I am mowing or working out in the yard. Controlling the music with my ear buds is a pain. With short taps, long taps, hold, etc. really sucks when sweaty or dirty.
This will make it much easier and not have to take the phone out of my pocket. Also if a song comes on I don’t know the artist or name just push the lower bezel button (you can specify which button you want it to be) and no need to open the phone up.

Does the analog use a different battery than the digital? So if you don't charge it the screen would go out but it would still work as a watch?

I don’t believe so.

Citizen confirmed there is no way to set an alarm on the watch itself only by way of the app. That is a huge design flaw in my book especially for a hybrid watch. Not sure how they let that slip through the crack.

Also there is no snooze for the alarm.

Now Need to find a 26mm bracelet with a flat top link as that is what they advised for a bracelet.

I like that a lot. I've been considering some form of smartwatch, but didn't want just a full digital screen.

Are you paired with an Apple or Android phone?

Looked up the MSRP, and that's not bad at all.

No doubt!
I've got a pending issue to send to Dave next week, may inquire on one of these at the same time.
Is yours the blur or black? Looks like both in the different photos. Think I'd go for the blue, which would likely put my F150 into the rarely worn category my Movado has been relegated to.

For some reason (work filtering, I'm guessing) I can't access specific model pages, but can view the index of all models.
Will have to take a look on my phone or when I'm home.

Must be having website issues. I can’t access them on my phone now either.

I really like that watch.

I was one of the unfortunate souls who got Citizens first smart watch the Citizen CZ Smart. While it had some neat functions it really left a lot to be desired.

Your watch looks like Citizen learned from their mistakes and has drastically improved their design. Smile
