Remember, the guiding principle of the design was to make it near impossible to do things in the absence of a broad consensus in agreement.

Except... where that really breaks down is on spending money. The "near impossible" is to limit spending, not to spend it. It's backwards.
Why? Because of 'entitlements' it's automatically scheduled to go higher. With any disagreement, there is a government 'shutdown' and we just can't have that.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

2 keys here:

Ford has to be pressed to reveal the holes in her story, and

Kavanaugh has to stay ultra cool under what may be the most unbridled fury of DEM fanatics that we have witnessed

There are no guarantees, of course, but this is a potential honey hole.

The Dem politicians are in a hurry to push their own political position. This may or may not coincide with strict adherence to the evidence, because it will be based on the Dem's political objectives. This also may or may not coincide with what Ford wants or is willing to say - what the Dems think is important and how the Dems want to portray things simply will not take Ford into account as a person because her future, her objectives and what she actually said are all less relevant to the Dems than the Dem's political objectives. There are a couple of fun ways in which this plays out.

First, there may be a disconnect between what Ford is saying and what the Dems think will win the political argument. In its mildest form, this will result in overt and obvious coaching from the Dems to Ford - and she may accept their coaching or not. In a worse form, some Dems get angry because Ford will not say exactly what they want her to say. In a slightly worse form, Ford gets pissed at the Dems and either goes off the reservation or says something that undermines her testimony or makes her sound like a nut. In the worst form, Dems may wind up having to attack Ford's testimony and credibility in order to make the political point they want to make.

But there's more! As the Dems try to coach Ford through the testimony that the Dems want to hear, any disconnects between what they want to hear and what Ford (at least initially) says will require clarification and a slightly more detailed discussion. This winds up being an opportunity for the Reps to find and exploit gaps or inconsistencies in her testimony. It's an extension of the Dems' strategy - the longer things go on, the more things get said, the more opportunities arise for things to go wrong.

Somehow I think the woman they've hired to do the questioning won't have to work very hard to expose the reality that Ford's story is complete nonsense.

This I see as a huge plus. The more extreme and demented they get, the more they will turn off a majority of the electorate.

Agreed, but I don't think that poses much of a challenge to even a half ass attorney.

Given his previous demeanor and character, I doubt he'll have much issue dealing with the slime on the committee.

Question? Will Kavanaugh channel his inner Clarence Thomas and offer a closing statement admonishing the committee for the corrupt, unethical, partisan, garbage they are? Justice Thomas' speech was one for the ages and an incredible example of courage in the face of lies. I for one hope Kavanaugh unloads on them like Thomas did.

Well then if they wanted more than a majority they should have said so. Personally I think you could give them 60 votes and they would STILL fail at their promises.

And all that is required for this nomination is 51 votes. If it were 51/49 in the leftists favor a shiny new progressive member of The Democratic Socialists Of America would be being seated on the court Oct. 1st.

Anyone know the whereabouts of the Shitshow Caravan? They should be around KCMO by now.
Where are the helicopters and airplanes recording this historic event?

Eastbound?

You should recall that when this current crop was elected, it wasn’t that way for the Court. It was only in the Gorsuch confirmation that the “Reid Rule” fka nuclear option, was invoked for Supreme Court.

We’d be better off if we spent our time learning the rules and dreaming up loopholes instead of perpetual circular firing squads.

Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

When you had the votes, we did things your way. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way. This lesson in political reality from Lyndon B. Johnson

And the rules changed. And if people don't change to accommodate them they will continue to lose.

Reality is modern politics are not yesterdays politics. We can wish they were all day long but they are not. The right needs to learn to deal with the new rules or all they are doing is delaying the left. They are not putting people and policies in place to stop them, they are just delaying them.

I'm actually surprised 4CHAN hasn't found Facebook pics of Christine Ford in a pussy hat holding an anti-Trump sign at a Women's March yet.

That shows you the level of detail that the left went to hide her after getting the letter but before it went public. IE, social media scrub & bleach, etc, etc.

And then again remember that 4Chan isn't especially political (as I understand it). They often just want to put people in their place / embarrass over - achievers like the creepy porn lawyer. They are probably just sick of seeing him pop up on their twitter feed and said "hey, lets fuck this guy up".

'CON GAME': Trump Destroys Kavanaugh Allegations, Bashes Democrats

President Donald Trump came to the defense of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh on Tuesday while speaking to reporters, calling the Democrats "con artists" who have brought harm to Kavanaugh's wife and children.

"I think it’s horrible what the Democrats have done," Trump said. "It’s a con game they’re playing. They’re really con artists. They don’t believe it themselves."

"They’re playing a con game, and they play it very well," Trump continued. "They’re lousy politicians, and they have lousy policies. They don’t know what the hell they’re doing. They want to get rid of ICE. They want to get rid of law enforcement. They don’t want to take care of our military. They want to raise your taxes. But they’re good at one thing — they’re good at one thing: that’s obstruction and resisting and con."

Trump highlighted Kavanaugh's character, academic record, and intellect as he defended his Supreme Court nominee, adding that he has "never had any charges like this."

"Thirty-six years ago? Nobody ever knew about it? Nobody ever heard about it?" Trump said. "And now a new charge comes up, and she says, 'Well, it might not be him.' And there were gaps, and she said she was totally inebriated and she was all messed up. And she doesn’t know it was him, but it might have been him. 'Oh, gee, let’s not make him a Supreme Court judge because of that.'"

Trump also noted the connections that the lawyers who are fighting against Kavanaugh have to the Democrats and how they have been involved in political fights like this "for years."

"It’s a shame that you can do this to a person’s life," Trump continued. "His wife is devastated. His children are devastated. I don’t mean they’re, like, “Oh, gee. I’m a little unhappy.” They’re devastated. And it’s because these Democrats — and they know. They know. When I see Schumer, who never even saw this woman, 'I believe her 100 percent,' and I see these other senators that I deal with on a daily basis — I know them better than they know themselves — it’s just a game for them. But it’s a very dangerous game for our country."

Maybe Grassley should say:

"If your ass is not in a seat here in DC by 10 am on Thursday, we are taking our vote."

I'll bet THAT will get her to "suddenly" realize why, she LOVES flying!

Nope. She isn't coming, period. That was never in the cards. She has nothing to share she hasn't already trotted out. That and sitting in front of the committee and lying could buy her a pergury charge and jail time (unlikely, but possible). The game is the same today as it was yesterday....Delay, delay, delay.

If she fails to show on Thursday or withdraws prior to, Grassley needs to be ready to take this to a vote.
