One, a 1990 Honda CRX SI. I loved that car until a crazy ex slashed the tires and keyed the crap out of it. Had some great times in that car cruising all over CA

Yeah, I bought a car new (13 miles on it) last year. It is really nice to not have to worry about everything breaking down right away. Paid cash, so no payments either. A year later, it still looks new and only has 2.5K on it. H&K-Guy

I have had three new cars in my life a 1970 Chevy Pickup which I had for two years, a 1974 Mazda RX2 which died a horrible death after two years. My 1987 Audi Turbo Quattro was purchased at the height of the unintended acceleration scare; I wasn't concerned as it was a five speed, that combined with being at the end of the model year, the deal was too good to be passed up. I picked it up at the port of Seattle and never looked back. It was one of my favorite cars; other than for the expensive maintenance and parts. For the last 25 years I have purchased low mileage used cars and have been more than happy with the results. I will never buy another "new" car.

Got my first one ever in my life three years ago at the age of 47. I drove a used 4Runner for 19 years and decided to get a new one for myself when the old one was totaled. ______________________________________________ Aeronautics confers beauty and grandeur, combining art and science for those who devote themselves to it. . . . Nope no way never. I must be an outlier. I'm comfortable purchasing a used vehicle with over 100k on the odometer. I do a fair amount of homework on the type and model first to know what I'm getting into. I'll purchase outright for less than $10k. I typically hold on to them for 5-8 years and typically break even or close. For me it has worked out well, but I like cars and am not afraid to turn a wrench or replace a bulb. Cheers~

Certain trucks, like the Tacoma, retain value for so long a used model is not a bargain. Passenger cars, however, are different. I went looking for a new Corolla a couple of years ago, and found the model I wanted at the dealer with 1500 miles on it. Some woman didn't like it and had traded it in. I got it for about 80 percent of what a similar car would have cost new. I also bought several cars with less than 20k on them from Carmax and Enterprise. If you just want the experience, go new. If you want to save money and have all the same benefits, get a rental or Carmax used.

I've only bought new cars in my adult life. I've bought a lot of them in the last 30+ years. It isn't the wisest financial move but it is my wife and I's splurge. We only make payments on our house and cars and have no other debt. We have high income so we can afford it. ____________________________ NRA Benefactor Life Member GOA Life Member Arizona Citizens Defense League Life Member

I bought new cars when I was young and stupid. No more. I'll buy a low mileage pre-owned vehicles from this point forward...let somebody else take the depreciation hit.

Bought a new 2002 Mazda 626 with a V6 and leather seats after my divorce. Lasted about 9 years before it started having problems. Traded it in for the 2007 Jeep Commander I have now. Hoping to keep it running until I can afford a new Tundra. My Jeep is at 183k miles. I’ve heard it said that the only cars not worth keeping after the warranty are BMW’s, MB’s and Audis. Tony. 93 Ford Ranger (still have, 120k mi) 01 Taurus. Sold to my brother in law at 99k miles, he put another 90k on it. Comfy car. 08 Honda Odyssey (still have, 165k mi) Others were used, low mileage. I tend to keep a long while. -- I always prefer reality when I can figure out what it is. JALLEN 10/18/18 https://sigforum.com/eve/forum...610094844#7610094844

We have been buying new for as long as I can remember. I get it that opting for a gently use, low mileage car has some financial benefits as you don't take that initial 'drive off the log' depreciation. But we buy Toyotas and Hondas which soften this quite a bit in my experience. And I like getting a new car that doesn't have several years of someone else's farts in the seats. 3 trucks total. 1994 Chevy S10. Got a great deal on it. Employer discount offered, and I didn’t pull that card until they gave me the first price. They lowered it more after I told them. Was a great truck until was in a accident with black ice. Got totaled, luckily nobody hurt. 1996 Chevy S10. Great little truck, finally decided I wanted something a bit bigger, traded for a full size SUV 2018 Chevy Silverado, couldn’t resist, dealer was having the employee pricing, saved 10k, which was the only reason we jumped on it. Used ones going for just a bit under the price we paid for a new one, so it was worth it. Love it so far.
