Striker in waiting |
But isn't that one kind of in a special category? IIRC, it was made on basically a bet that anyone could produce a movie. MST3K inadvertently made it famous. -Rob I predict that there will be many suggestions and statements about the law made here, and some of them will be spectacularly wrong. - jhe888 A=A

Swamp Thing doesn't qualify as bad cinema in my book because it's intentionally campy and the film features Barbeau's ample rack. The truly bad films are the ones that have ambitions of being great works of art. The men and women who made Swamp Thing were laughing when they made it and that lets them off the hook. Some film makers were ambitious and serious and made filsm so bad, they became legendary, and they are enjoyable because of their badness, not in spite of it. Ed Wood comes to mind, with films such as Plan 9 from Outer Space. If you've never seen it, make sure you watch it with friends. You'll have fun. The films that aren't campy, aren't funny (intentionally or not) and take themselves seriously yet suck badly- these are the truly bad films. ____________________________________________________ "I am your retribution." - Donald Trump, speech at CPAC, March 4, 2023

I think Showgirls acchieved its goal, which is to be softcore porn for adolescents and a jerkoff fantasy for the film's director. Yeah

"Santa Claus Conquers the Martians" used to rank pretty high on the list. I'm not sure if it has achieved some kind of cult status over the years because of it.

Bingo. Now you've got the range. One of the single worst screen perfomances that I have ever witnessed was Will Smith's idiot kid in that movie. My God, he cannot act. He has no business anywhere in front of a camera. ____________________________________________________ "I am your retribution." - Donald Trump, speech at CPAC, March 4, 2023

Ah, yes, The Piano. I had forgotten all about that piece of tripe. I remember sitting through it and when we got to the end I was spitting mad that we had just sat through Holly Hunter's wet dream. Leave a piano sitting in the ocean surf for who knows how long and it doesn't suffer any damage. Or how about when Sam Neill dragged her out to the chopping block, grabbed the axe and chopped down on her hand and only nicked her fingernail. Like I said, a little girl's wet dream.

True it was more or less aimed at the 'Saved by the Bell' audience..... I think it would be better, if the volume was muted if watching at home but I saw it in the theater

I'll probably get soundly smacked for this, but the only movie I've ever got up and walked out of was Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
