I’d bet that most maskless people aren’t trying to convince anybody else of anything.

They just wanna be left alone.

It’s not about trying to educate the Karen’s.

It’s about getting rid of an obnoxious busybody (and likely hormonal person) with more baggage than I care to deal with. How I do that, is my call.

Yeah, just leave me the fuck alone. If people think that the little cloth security banky on their face is doing anything for them (or for others), they are welcome to believe this, but I do not believe it and I am not participating in this idiotic charade.

Next time someone scolds you about not wearing a mask, ask them if they know how many billions of these disposable masks have been made, and ask them what they think happens to them when they are discarded. They are going into landfills, they are littering the roadsides, and some of them are ending up in our oceans and lakes. It's obscene.

I doubt that most Karens would even know what "relative efficacy" means.

Around here the mandate is still in place, in fact they're talking about making it permanent (they keep saying that doesn't really mean "permanent", it's just a convenience so they don't have to keep announcing temporary ones, "but eventually it would be repealed"). Point being, going into a store unmasked isn't an option. Early on in the scamdemic I accidentally walked into a place and the woman working there yelled at me to put a mask on. I didn't have one with me, so I said "Sooooo, my money's no good here?" To that she said "Oh, OK fine, just hurry up and then get out." I did, without buying shit.

Now, if I found myself in that situation I'd try to just ignore Karen. If she persisted I think I'd escalate to a death-daggers glare and tell her "Lady, mind your own fucking business."

Yesterdays "Big Tobacco" is todays "Big Pharma".

Some of us old geezers remember how everything that was in the public eye was "touched" by the cigarette industry. Movies, TV's, candy, you name it, someone was firing up a smoke.

It so pervaded everything, you could not get away from it.

And it killed of it's customer base, but no problem, people were making babies and they were being groomed to smoke from the time they were old enough to retain memories.

There is nothing new under the sun, it is just takes on a different appearance and occupies a different place, right in front of everyone.

Just hope that the fooled figure it out before decades go by.

But I suffer from occasional nicotine deficiencies …

Government is the big co-conspirator here just like tobacco. They’re in on it and collect and a huge portion of the revenue.

Mask nazis won’t leave you alone. Government agents convinced them you are responsible for others’ health. So now freedom and personal choice are off the table. If you don’t comply, you are selfish, dangerous…..the enemy. You are less than now. You can be persecuted, segregated, maybe even eliminated. At a minimum you should be shamed and government agents can manhandle you in front of your family. You can be doxxed, your business stalked and your property vandalized and no one who should will come to your aid because government agents are never wrong, manipulative nor illegitimately destructive.

Now, do as you’re told or it’s room 101 for you.

Just spent 5 hours on an airplane flying home. Didn't spend a single second wearing a mask walking through the airports. Not one second. Only wore it through security and when entering the sky club. Didn't spend more than literally 6 minutes wearing a mask on the airplane (time to board and get to my seat). Didn't wear it for a single second after I was in my seat.

No one bothered me. People simply need to en masse stop wearing the dirty face covering.

Not about masks, but in general I love watching public freakouts and the best is a guy on Reddit who reacts with sublime chill when a Karen is mad about her NYC bus being late. Answer confrontation with smothering Canadian-level kindness and Karens implode. Big Grin

I'm all for being polite as frayedends suggests, and lots of people are well-meaning, so whenever random people try to engage in random conversation with me about their grievances with the universe, though, I try to simply "Oh." or "I hadn't considered it. Thank you." my way out of it.

If I can't, whatever the topic is, an extra polite "What would you like to happen next?" is a fun go to reply. When I ask that in meetings or to strangers, it's like the person who was yelling just got stuck in their own little choose your own adventure book and forget what page they are on.

Some people are so about exercising agency and being "right" about something that they don't actually know what they want..

Actually, my sister's name is Karen. Back in November she texted me and asked if I'd caved in and gotten vaccinated yet. I said no, and she asked me to not come to the family Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Which surprised me because she usually has her head screwed on pretty straight. She's drunk the koolaid on this one though for sure, and passed it around to her family. I talked to my Dad a while back and he told me her whole family is against me now. I assume this means I'm banned from my nephew's wedding in a few months too.

Don't send a card or gift, it could have your cooties on it.

Heaven forbid! The whole clan, the preacher, the guests, might all fall over dead a few days later. I wouldn't want that on my conscience.

With family members like this - who the hell needs enemies? (not specific to your family - we all have these relatives)

Maybe just politely ask if they behaved like this before taking the Trump vaccine.
