Chasui not Chasu? Looks good. Did you use pork belly? Is chasui made w/ pork belly or pork loin or shoulder? I like chasui and chasu, but really love either wu shing pai gu (sp? - 5 spice braised pork belly) or kakuni. Both are kind of similar with some differences in spice. Char siu, not char sui. Can also be spelled cha su or cha siu. Fatty cuts like pork butt or shoulder work best (I used shoulder). I did use Chinese five-spice powder.

Oopps. Sorry. I'm not really familiar with cantonese, only mandarin. So, perhaps I'm not saying it phonetically correctly in cantonese. Neither spelling sounds like how it's called in mandarin. But i was kind of kidding with you and was asking why char siu (chinese) rather than cha su (japanese). Anyway, looks tasty. I loved it when i was younger (and still like it); but now i prefer wu shing or kakuni. "Wrong does not cease to be wrong because the majority share in it." Well, I'm half Japanese and half Chinese, so there's that. It gets confusing even for me.

That looks like a mighty fine meal. I haven’t had a steak in months… "Wrong does not cease to be wrong because the majority share in it." L.Tolstoy "A government is just a body of people, usually, notably, ungoverned." Shepherd Book

One of my traditional Halloween dinners. For some reason, it been one of four things most of my life, I joke they are traditional Halloween dinners. They are pizza, homemade, frozen, or delivery. Not this year. Chicken A-La King. Frozen or homemade. Not this year. Welsh rarebit. Not this year. Or Chili, yep this year. I like Chili with beans, the more beans the better. One pound of ground beef. One pound of ground pork. Add Chili powder of your liking. I use a homemade blend. One jalapeño pepper finely chopped. Half sweet onion finely chopped. Green sweet bell pepper finely chopped. 32oz of diced tomatoes 1 cup of your favorite salsa Can Pinto beans Can large Red kidney beans Can red kidney beans in Chili Cab Black beans 1 table spoon of aged black garlic powder Salt and pepper to taste Half table spoon Cayenne powder Half tablespoon Chipotle powder One can of beer, rince the bean cans with the beer. One teaspoon of cinnamon One dark chocolate square. Brown meat, drain fat, add to pot all ingredients and simmer until the thickness prefer. This has won Chili cook offs. I know that people say it's not real Chili, or call it Chili soup. I don't care. I like beans, this is good and it has won Chili cook offs. I have a more ingredient, spicier, with different meats along with the ground beef and pork that has won more awards.
