Great news.
Except Georgia will still require the ATF Form 4 according to Silencer Shop. Georgia code 16-11-124(4), states that a person may have a suppressor that has been “registered in accordance with the dictates of the National Firearms Act.” In other words, for Georgia residents nothing has changed. The process is still the same. Fill out an ATF Form 4 and wait for approval before you can possess the suppressor.
Found this out because I just went to Silencer Shop to order another suppressor. And nothing changed. So excited for those in the totally free states and hopefully our Georgia legislature will get this corrected pronto. Oh well, saved me some $$.

Does this mean I can just use one of those oil filters as a suppressor and not have to worry about it?

Guess I will call the fellas at Ridgeback Defense today. They are just down the road manufacture suppressors and sell them directly from their shop.

I'll be anxiously awaiting Form 4 to fall or at the very least the additional engraving requirement but in the meantime I think it's time to learn about suppressors. One more reason to be happy I left NY for FL.

Lets see how this does with prices, if demand goes up, and it will, I see major price increases as production ramps up, at least in the short term as new customers enter the market without all the NFA restrictions.

Email from Capitol Armory this morning:

"Capitol Armory's transfer process is unchanged for now. We will continue using the established ATF transfer process for new orders, pending Form 4 applications will continue through the normal approval process, and we will not skip a required step until we have clear written guidance from the ATF and approval from our counsel."

Silencer Shop's role in the lawsuit as a named plaintiff and their dealer network business model taking a big lead over Capitol Armory for the forseeable future.

Ok, $0 tax and no Form 4 on SBR, SBS and suppressors. Does that mean I can now sell my previously taxed item without ATF hassle and w/o passing the transfer cost to the buyer or a 4473?

There's a pretty good paper trail on legally owned NFA stuff as of today. I'd tread carefully there.

Two separate laws. SBR and SBS were under the GCA (Gun Control Act) my understanding is, that's still in effect and you still need Form 4.

Suppressors were under NFA (National Firearms Act), that has an injunction thru a federal court and everything has changed (for now).

I would think you could legally sell an NFA suppressor today (certainly not legal advice). But part 2 of that, how do you get your name off the registry tied to the serial number without a Form 4 transfer? There's not a new mechanism for that yet.....

I'm no legal scholar, but reading a bunch the last couple of days and if I'm wrong someone will correct me.

The local big NFA dealer and apparently a lot of them around the nation are holding all transfers and sales and awaiting clarification and guidance from the ATF. Hopefully there will be something forthcoming today. As suggested on previous pages, doing much of anything right now isn’t advisable. People whose careers are base on figuring this stuff out are in the process of doing just that.

And us here in MA still twiddle our thumbs..

I only have one suppressor, use it on a 6.5 Creedmoor and a 243. Like I said before, I’ve never seen what the big deal is with them. Should be no more of a deal than buying a handgun.

First off, with full power ammo, there’s still plenty of noise. It takes it down some, but there’s still a gunshot.

There are already types of low power 22 ammo, quiet(and weak) without a suppressor.

There was the guy from IL that went to shoot his ex wife a year+ ago. For better or worse he used a homemade suppressor of sorts. I don’t know if it was an oil filter type or another, if there’s a will, there may be a way.

I’m not even sure if I’ll buy another if this shakes out, maybe. Of course a future administration may try to reinstate the regulations. Of course the individual States with always try to restrict whatever they can.

Statements are being released from all the local shops in Oklahoma. The big shops are all "we have 90 employees that depend on us and we are waiting for guidance." The independent owner/operator of my closest shop (just himself and 1 full time employee) made his own decision and sold out his small suppressor supply by noon.
