I actually think she did the ethical thing. I think she did not believe that Iran was an imminent threat. Rather than come right out and state that she disagreed with Trump, she gave an answer that allowed her to not lie about what she believed while also not publicly going against Trump. I actually tend to agree with her on this issue and don’t really believe that Iran was an “imminent” threat. I’m not expressing an opinion on whether or not the current actions against Iran are warranted or not, but I definitely don’t believe that Iran was an imminent threat that needed an immediate response to prevent something severe from happening to the US. “It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. I can’t give an accurate account of how imminent a threat Iran was, but in one way, shape, or form, they have been a threat for the better part of five decades. Do politicians paint a picture in a light favorable to their view? Do they tell half truths to misdirect or diminish an opposing viewpoint? They sure do. Every one of them. The president in his last address talked about the Obama administration handing 1.7 billion in cash to Iran. He sure did. From 400 million in cash Iran gave us 35+ years ago for an arms deal that went sideways and we held that money captive. 1.7 billion was negotiated in that shit deal Obama made with Iran. Trump didn’t lie, just never fully explained how it all happened. Sure gives a different impression when you don’t know the whole story doesn’t it? Obama still made a shit deal. That aside, Iran has been responsible for the misery and death of more lives than we will ever know. Has Trump stretched the truth about Iran? I’m sure he has. Does that diminish the evil the Ayatollah was responsible for? Not at all. I can’t blame Tulsi for taking the position she did. Noem, I’m glad she’s elsewhere. Bondi, tough talking approach, horrible closer. That became more apparent over time. Personally I think that may have been her strategy all along. | |||

I would have been much happier were the direction to U.S. instillation commanders mandating DoW authorization of open and/or concealed carry for active duty and retirees IAW existing state laws…kinda similar to vehicle access. I tend to agree. I obviously don't have access to the intel, so I can't speak to whether or not there was any credible intelligence that Iran was more of an imminent threat at the start of this than they have been for the past 10 years or so. But I think it's important for the President to have people around him who will give him information that he might not want to hear, and also have the courage to disagree with him on policy decisions. I don't know what's going on behind closed doors, but the rumor is that Tulsi is doing that. At the same time, she's publicly acknowledging that it's her job to provide information but that her boss is the one with the authority and responsibility to make the decision and act on it. Loyalty doesn't mean being a "yes-man" (or in this case, "yes-woman"). It's important to hear dissenting opinions and information, provided it's delivered in good faith. Everybody has a God given right to self-defense but for too long the men and women who defend our freedom have not had this basic right on base. He gave 3 examples of the threat being inside with highly trained people nearby willing to neutralize quickly, but they were unarmed. The letter he is signing is to direct every base commander the basic presumption that every member of military will be given the right to carry after applying in writing. Specific reasons have to be given in writing if base commander doesn't grant it to an individual.
