Sonderling, who serves under DeRemer, will become the agencies acting secretary.

Her exit comes after a whistleblower complaint accused the labor secretary of an affair with her security guard, drinking on the job and using staff to fabricate official travel for personal trips at taxpayer expense.

Over 250 Journalists Sign Letter Demanding ‘Forceful’ Protest Against Trump at White House Correspondents’ Dinner

More than 250 journalists, including Dan Rather and Sam Donaldson, have signed an open letter demanding that the White House Correspondents’ Association turn this Saturday’s dinner into a stage for a direct, “forceful” confrontation with President Donald Trump.
The letter, sent to the WHCA on Monday, calls on the organization to use the podium at the 2026 White House Correspondents’ Dinner to deliver a “forceful defense of freedom of the press and condemnation of those who threaten that freedom, followed by a standing toast to the First Amendment.”

“Speak forcefully, in front of the man who seeks to undermine our country’s long tradition of an independent, strong, and free press,” the letter says.

The letter reads in part:

We understand that some journalists plan to wear pocket handkerchiefs or lapel pins with the words of the First Amendment. And continuing in that spirit, we believe the White House Correspondents Association should take stronger action by issuing – from the podium – a forceful defense of freedom of the press and condemnation of those who threaten that freedom, followed by a standing toast to the First Amendment and a pledge to continue upholding such a critical cornerstone of our democracy. Speak forcefully, in front of the man who seeks to undermine our country’s long tradition of an independent, strong, and free press.

We also urge the WHCA to reaffirm, without equivocation, that freedom of the press is not a partisan issue and that the Association will not normalize this behavior but instead fight back against any officeholder who has waged systematic war against the journalists whose work the dinner celebrates.

The signatories include journalism groups such as the Society of Professional Journalists, the Coalition for Women in Journalism, the National Association of Black Journalists, and the Freedom of the Press Foundation, along with dozens of individual reporters.

The letter accuses President Trump of attacking the press through defamation lawsuits against media outlets, showing favoritism toward conservative voices, actions by FCC Chairman Brendan Carr, and his decision to pardon January 6 Capitol rioters, which they claim sends the message that “attacks on the press will be forgiven.”

Former CBS anchor Dan Rather explicitly urged the Beltway press corps to “forcefully demonstrate opposition” to the president at the event.

Many journalists attending the black-tie event also plan subtler acts of protest, like wearing lapel pins or pocket handkerchiefs emblazoned with the text of the First Amendment.

President Trump is scheduled to attend the dinner. He previously boycotted the event, citing unfair treatment by the press.

In a recent Truth Social post, Trump said he is now looking forward to it and hopes it will be “something very special.”

This letter comes during a time of record-low trust in the media.

Gallup polling last year found that only 28% of Americans have a great or fair amount of trust in mass media, with even lower numbers among Republican voters.

The White House Correspondents’ Dinner is supposed to celebrate the First Amendment and journalism, yet here is a large group of so-called “objective” reporters openly plotting political theater against a sitting president they despise.

Absolutely, this is the ONLY way to possibly deter others doing the same corrupt crimes. Look at Swalwell- pure public humiliation, his professional and personal life ruined in front of the whole world. Quietly putting them in prison is not nearly enough, they need to be dragged thru the mud, piss and shit; figuratively placed into the gallows for those to throw rotted fruit at them. And maybe this might put a speed bump in front of other grifters.

So not much if anything will change for the long term. We have less than three years of Trump remaining and perhaps only months if the midterms don't go our way. I have not seen even the slightest of tangible effort to drain the swamp. I realize draining the entire swamp is not realistic but if we cut deep enough into it it may deter others who are like minded of committing treason.

Ilhan Omar is the marker for me. If you can't or won't take her down then draining the swamp is nothing more than a campaign slogan that we bought into. Trump Just Went Scorched Earth on Supreme Court Over Recent Rulings

President Donald Trump railed against the Supreme Court over its recent rulings on his tariffs and upcoming ruling on his birthright citizenship executive order.

In a Wednesday post on Truth Social, Trump wrote, “How can the Democrats not like how the U.S. Supreme Court votes. The Democrat Justices stick together like glue, NEVER failing to wander from the warped and perverse policies, ideas, and cases put before them. They ALWAYS vote as a group, or BLOCK, even that new, Low IQ person, that somehow found her way to the bench (Sleepy Joe!).”

The president complained that “The Republican Justices don’t stick together, they give the Democrats win after win, like a 159 Billion Dollar pile of cash on a completely ridiculous Tariff decision, and nasty, one sided questions on the country destroying subject of Birthright Citizenship, something which virtually NO OTHER COUNTRY IN THE WORLD IS STUPID ENOUGH TO ALLOW.”

He further explained that birthright citizenship “was meant for the babies of slaves, not for the babies of Chinese Billionaires.”

The Supreme Court ruled in February that the International Emergency Economic Powers Act did not grant the president the authority to impose sweeping global tariffs that he announced early in 2025. The court found that the Constitution grants Congress the power to impose duties and that the IEEPA’s reference to “regulat[ing]” importation could not be stretched to include virtually unlimited tariffs.

Justices Clarence Thomas, Brett Kavanaugh, and Samuel Alito dissented. The ruling paved the way for the administration to begin the process for refunding the tariffs which had grown to about $166 billion.

On April 1, the Supreme Court heard arguments related to President Trump’s executive order eliminating birthright citizenship for the children of illegal aliens and temporary visa holders. Some of the justices pressed the administration’s lawyer on whether a president can unilaterally rescind a constitutional guarantee that courts have treated as settled law.

The court has not issued its ruling on the matter, but the justices have expressed skepticism about whether a president can make such a sweeping move.
