https://www.newsmax.com/us/don...dkt_nbr=010502sfz7mv Trump Planning $20 Billion Dulles Airport Overhaul President Donald Trump is expected to announce a more than $20 billion plan Wednesday to overhaul the Dulles International Airport, located just outside Washington, D.C., replacing its long-criticized mobile lounges with expanded rail service and constructing five new terminals as part of a yearslong modernization effort. According to sources familiar with the plans, the project would expand the facility's underground Aerotrain system to serve all terminals, eliminating the use of the airport's mobile lounges, commonly known as "people movers," reports The Washington Post. The proposed design features large glass windows and gold accents throughout the airport, including gold-mirrored ceilings. The project is expected to cost more than $20 billion and take several years to complete. Trump is scheduled to unveil the proposal during a 3 p.m. ET Oval Office event alongside Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, reports the Post. United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby, Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority CEO Jack Potter, and MWAA board member Trent Morse are also expected to attend. United Airlines, which operates a major hub at Dulles, has agreed to help finance the effort. Most of the funding would come through bonds issued by the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, which operates Dulles and nearby Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. The planned renovation is part of Trump's broader effort to remake the nation's capital and surrounding region, which has also included proposals for a new White House ballroom and a large triumphal arch. Trump has repeatedly criticized Dulles despite praising the original terminal designed by Finnish American architect Eero Saarinen. "It should be a great airport, and it's not a good airport at all. It's a terrible airport," Trump said in December. "We're going to make that into something really spectacular. We have an amazing plan for it." The airport's mobile lounges have long been a source of frustration for travelers. Designed as part of Saarinen's original 1958 vision, the vehicles transport passengers between the main terminal and concourses. Although the Aerotrain opened in 2010, many passengers still rely on the mobile lounges to reach certain gates. Criticism intensified after one of the vehicles crashed into a concourse docking area in November, sending at least 18 people to hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. Following the incident, Morse called the mobile lounges slow, outdated, and dangerous and said they should be replaced. Dulles, located about 25 miles west of downtown D.C. in northern Virginia, serves as one of the nation's busiest international gateways and is United's primary hub in the Washington region.

The mobile lounges weren't so bad when they took you directly to the plane, but interposing the concourses diminished the experience, and delayed the check-in/boarding process significantly. The open plan isn't conducive to TSA checks either. And, as with all major airports it seems, the place was not designed for the level of traffic it now sees. Over the decades, it has become somewhat dingy and dated, overdue for a refresh, but I am a little skeptical about designers getting it right, especially where traffic and parking are concerned. It seems like like every designer these days hates cars, and incorporates maximum inconvenience for drivers into their plans.

Airports either facilitate efficient human movement or efficient aircraft movement. Air traffic volume has increased so much that prioritizing aircraft movement is necessary to prevent gridlock on the taxiways. Older airports such as Dulles were designed when traffic was low, and thus the human movements were prioritized. Expect the passenger experience to feel worse after the redesign, but keep in mind you are trading off for more flights operating with much less delay. Like DEN and SLC, you walk forever to get to the gate, sometimes more than a mile from the front door of the airport. But your aircraft move without much delay.

^^Those people movers at Dulles always made me think of the AT-AT walkers from "The Empire Strikes Back". Hoping that in a few years down the road, they rename that airport as Donald J. Trump International.

Think about the passenger experience DURING the redesign. This is the airport I use due to its proximity to my home. I dislike the mobile lounges; however, at present it's the only way to get international passengers from the outlying concourses to customs/immigration in the main building. _________________________________________________________________________ “A man’s treatment of a dog is no indication of the man’s nature, but his treatment of a cat is. Trump reveals 'historic' deal to disarm Hamas in Gaza in 'major milestone' for Israel's security 18:49 EDT 30 Jul 2026, updated 20:05 EDT 30 Jul 2026 By STEPHEN M. LEPORE, US SENIOR REPORTER Donald Trump has struck a 'historic deal' that includes the 'complete disarmament' of Hamas in Gaza in an effort to end terror attacks on Israel. Trump said the agreement made by the Board of Peace was part of his 20-point plan to bring peace to the Middle East. In a Truth Social post Thursday night, Trump celebrated what he called a 'monumental step toward lasting PEACE and SECURITY' in the region. 'This agreement is a critical step towards Gaza finally being governed by a new Palestinian government that will work closely with the Board of Peace to help the Palestinian people,' he said. Trump added: 'At the same time, Israel will have the security it deserves, with Gaza no longer used as a base for terror attacks.' The President said the agreement will be put into place 'in carefully structured phases' that will eventually lead to Israeli forces withdrawing from Gaza. An International Stabilization Force and new Palestinian police force will work together to keep Gaza 'safe for its residents and neighbors.' Trump thanked mediators on behalf of Egypt, Qatar and Turkey 'for their important efforts' alongside his own team. 'One year ago there was a violent raging war, humanitarian crisis and hostages kept in brutal captivity. We have made historic progress and there is still much work to do,' he said. 'CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL ON THIS AMAZING DEVELOPMENT, THAT EVERYBODY SAID COULD NEVER BE ACHIEVED!' Trump has been meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu this past. The Daily Mail has reached out to the prime minister for comment. Earlier this month, Hamas dissolved its government in Gaza and is preparing to transfer power to a technical committee backed by the United Nations as part of the deal. Last October, Trump outlined the plan to end the war spurred on by the October 7, 2023 terror attack by Hamas. The US President pledged not only an 'immediate end to the war' in the Strip but 'the whole deal' to stop conflict that has ravaged the entire region for 'thousands of years'. The plan states that on agreement by both sides, 'the war will immediately end' with Israeli withdrawals timed to release of the last hostages held by Hamas. During that initial period, there would be a ceasefire. Existing 'battle lines' would be frozen in place and Hamas would lay down its arms with the terror group's offensive weaponry being destroyed. While 'full aid' would be immediately sent to the Gaza Strip. Key points include the deployment of a 'temporary international stabilization force' and creation of a transitional authority headed by Trump. The deal would demand Hamas militants fully disarm and be excluded from future roles in the government. However, those who agreed to 'peaceful co-existence' would be given amnesty. Following Israeli withdrawal, the borders would be opened to aid and investment. In a crucial change from Trump's earlier apparent goals, Palestinians will not be forced to leave and instead, the document said, 'we will encourage people to stay and offer them the opportunity to build a better Gaza.' Police would be 'nationally recruited' and 'professionally vetted' and be tasked with maintaining public order, investigating crimes and protecting civilians within Gaza. Meanwhile the ISF - a multinational force - would guard borders, stop weapons smuggling, deter militant resurgence with targeted counter terror raids, and protect reconstruction projects. The October 7, 2023, attack by Hamas-led militants that sparked the war killed some 1,200 people in Israel and saw 251 others taken hostage. Israel’s retaliatory offensive in Gaza has killed 73,098 Palestinians, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry. The ministry, part of the Hamas-led government, is staffed by medical professionals and maintains detailed records viewed as generally reliable by UN agencies and independent experts. It does not distinguish between civilians and militants but says women and children make up around half of all fatalities. Israeli strikes have lessened considerably since the ceasefire took effect on Oct. 10, but they continue almost daily. Q

Good luck with that one. These lying pricks will welch on ANY deal some American President wants. Remember the water distribution pipes? They pulled them up and cut them to make missiles…some folks you just can’t reason with. I hope it succeeds but past history says otherwise. This reminds me a high school confrontation back in the 1970's when a lowly Freshman in my school was constantly bullied by an older boy, who outweighed him by a good 20 lbs. or so. One day the Freshman met him at the school entrance and sucker-punched the old boy and then kicked him in the ribs while he was down. (I guess the Freshman believed in the theory that if you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck!) Afterwards the Freshman got a lot of criticism for his "cheap shots" while the older boy was down. His comment: "Yeah, that was dirty fighting, but that S.O.B. now has a black eye and bruised ribs to remind him that he might whip me in a future fight, but if he don't, I'm gonna sure as hell make him pay one way or the other." I don't know if that was the first "f around and find out", but the older boy never bullied the Freshman again. Maybe Israel saw the need to get in a few extra kicks to avoid future fights. Time will tell.....

Former US Olympian accused of vandalizing Trump's new reflecting pool slated to dodge ALL charges...as DOJ reveals real cause of 'damage' on the bottom 18:31 EDT 31 Jul 2026, updated 19:32 EDT 31 Jul 2026 By STEPHEN M. LEPORE, US SENIOR REPORTER and ELIOT FORCE, US NEWS REPORTER The former Olympian accused of vandalizing Donald Trump's restored Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool has had his charges dismissed. Investigations into David Hearn showed the damage was the result of a 'flawed installation by the contractor' and 'the rush to complete the project' in time for Trump's America 250 celebration. Government lawyers admitted as such in a 20-page court filing released Friday as DC US Attorney Jeanine Pirro moved to drop all charges. 'Given all of this newly discovered information, it is difficult to attribute the widespread damage to the Reflecting Pool to vandalism, let alone to establish that fact beyond a reasonable doubt,' the filing states. Hearn's lawyers said in a statement that the case against him should never have been brought. 'Its dismissal today does not erase the abuse of government power in arresting and charging a patriotic American who did nothing wrong. The government´s approach was ready, fire, aim. The administration owes Mr Hearn an apology,' the lawyers said. The Daily Mail has reached out to both the White House and the Department of the Interior, which manages the pool, for comment. Q
